LLOYD’S REGISTER GROUP

I. Background

The Lloyd's Register Group (LRG) offers security to companies with capital-intensive
investments in the high-risk electricity and transportation industries. This assists its customers in
developing secure, long-term supply chains. LRG has focused on security since 1760, and the
organization is investing time, money, and resources to fulfill Lloyd's mission: to preserve life
and property while also encouraging education and research in the transportation and engineering
sectors. LRG contributes to a safer world by providing objective advice, broad expertise, deep
experience, and closer relationships. LRG is also a global leader in developing internationally
recognized criteria for business processes and goods. The standards are those of major
independent organizations or those developed by LRG.

II. Statement of the Problem

A. How can Lloyd’s Register Group align the individual business strategies of the employees
with the company’s established standards through employee empowerment?

Decision-making should not just be focused on the top management. The supervisor must
be the motivator for each employee to express their ideas in the continuous improvement of the
company's various processes All employees should know that all ideas matter and even their
suggestions can be used to improve the company. With this, the employees will be encouraged to
speak up and share their thoughts since they are being appreciated and acknowledged.
B. What type of total quality tool/continuous improvement method should Lloyd’s Register
Group employ in order to establish a performance metric for the employees?

It is Cause-and-effect type of quality tool/method of continuous improvement. Diagrams


connect a key performance issue to its possible causes. It is used to locate and isolate the source
of a problem because of its structure, it is sometimes referred to as the fishbone diagram.

C. How can ISO 9000 contribute to the overall improvement of Lloyd’s Register Group’s
organizational performance?

ISO 9000 can assist an organization in satisfying its customers and meeting regulatory
requirements and strive for continuous improvement It was established as a set of guidelines to
assist the company in the establishment, maintenance, and improvement of LRG. ISO 9000 is
concerned with the foundations of quality management systems.

III. Areas of Consideration

The "closed-loop top management system" is blamed for these issues that the company
follows a policy in which decisions are centralized to top management of the business. As a
result of the constant noise, the employees' voices became muffled. enhancement of the
company's various processes.

IV. Alternative Courses of Action

It must also show the benefits and drawbacks of each course of action when it comes to
resolving the organizational issue.

Advantage

ISO 9000 can assist an organization in satisfying its customers and meeting regulatory
requirements. requirements, and strive for continuous improvement ISO 9000 is aware of the
compliance requirements, giving them confidence in a supplier's ability to meet them
specifications.
Disadvantage

Owners and managers lack a thorough understanding of ISO 9000. the majority of
Companies have less funding available, so they are having difficulty growing. use the ISO
system

V. Recommendation

We suggest on including management system certification for ISO 9000 quality


certification that gives employees training that will assist them in improving their individual
performance. Providing a regular knowledge and process check tests for the employees to ensure
that they are still knowledgeable of what they are doing. Provide regular seminars and meetings
to check the employees’ standing and status mentally and emotionally to ensure their well-being.

VI. Management Lessons Learned

The lesson learned about LRG is to weight both positive and negative experiences from
both customer and employees’ side. The company aims to provide excellent services for the
clients but despite of this goal, there will be a problem ready. With this, the learning should be a
company shall always have many ways to counter unexpected problems and challenges to ensure
that minimal errors will be only faced.
