TASK PERFORMANCE

TNT EXPRESS

I. Background of the study

TNT Express is a company that focuses on providing worldwide courier services. Every week, it
sends an average of 4.4 million shipments, papers, and freight to 200 nations. TNT Express was
established with the objective of establishing a consumer standard for transporting all packages
and documents across 200 countries. In 2004, TNT, on the other hand, suffered a huge setback.
As a result of the hiring of their new CEO, they are not meeting the goals of their new plan.
Suddenly, negative feedback from their organization appears, alleging that delivery of 4.4
average packs of things have been delayed due to a shift in operations. Staff, particularly the IT
system, is one of the most affected, as they are unprepared to handle a more complicated
shipping method as well as the full shift. The success of their company has had a significant
impact on them.

II. Statement of the Problem

a. To train the most efficient and dependable members of their team, they can use the 10-
step approach that acts as the cornerstone for a quality culture. To do so, they must first
determine the organization's mission, and the organization is responsible for ensuring that
its employees are aware of the company's quality culture and their role in its overall
success. As a result, their business will profit. Leaders must also be aware of their
employees' development, invest in quality training, ensure that quality-related attitudes
are incorporated, maintain quality organization, and ensure that their employees have
quality-positive attitudes. While creating a new culture, take a heart-and-mind approach
to the employees' feelings.
b. To identify and isolate the problem's causes, they should design a cause-and-effect
diagram. It can aid in the brainstorming and categorization of ideas into relevant
categories, as well as the identification of possible causes for a problem. They'll be able
to figure out what's wrong and come up with solutions by mapping existing procedures in
this platform. They will be able to integrate the present IT systems to a more
sophisticated system that will be effective in monitoring the shipment and delivery of
items after they have addressed the root of the problem.
c. Implementing ISO 9000 for continuous business performance improvement may result in
higher-quality service, suggesting that customers believe the company provides quality,
which helps with customer retention and development. TNT Express believes that
applying ISO 9000 will help them improve customer satisfaction and compete more
effectively. They also desire a better understanding of their internal consumers' wants and
needs. If their company is ISO 9000 certified, they will have a significant competitive
edge.

III. Areas of Consideration

• There is a need to increase employee training quality.

• Failure of the System

• A lack of comprehension

• If a shipment is delayed, it may not reach the customer on time.

IV. Alternative Courses of Action

a. To avoid delivery delays, they must place a strong emphasis on time management.
Double-check the system before you begin working to verify there are no
problems. This strategy has the advantage of allowing them to profit for a long
time. The drawback is that employees are already accustomed to managing their
time. Prior to the arrival of the new CEO's advocacy, they were aware of the
situation.

b. Employees should be taught and trained on a regular basis. As stated in the issue,
employees were not prepared to handle a more complex process in the distribution
of goods. The CEO should inform and train her personnel about the new
advocacy. This technique has the advantage of allowing these new employees to
train new colleagues in advocacy. The drawback is that they will have to put their
earnings into it.

V. Recommendation

The organization of TNT Express must rely on its previous accomplishments for support.
They are more successful with their services and serve their markets better than their
competitors, according to their previous approach. They are able to continue in business
for longer because they are proactive in their responses to the environment. Remove the
jargon and make sure that everyone in your company understands the strategy. Involve
your employees in the final formulation of the plan by asking and incorporating their
comments.

VI. Management Lesson Learned

Businesses have a huge impact on society and culture. They not only consume the
majority of people's time, but they also contribute to the development of new ideas and
technical developments. When people are inspired and motivated to work toward a
common goal, businesses thrive. In this example, the management lesson learned is to
always ensure that the set system accurately represents the company's aim. If the
company's former operations are to be changed, it should be for the better, not for the
worse. Changes must be useful to the company rather than damaging to its reputation. As
a result, the manager must be familiar with all aspects of the business.
