Are Viruses Alive?

Many scientists have debated if a virus is alive or not. A virus by make copies by taking
over another cell. A virus does not make or eat food for energy. According to Buzzle all
living organisms need energy to develop, grow, repair, and reproduce. Science of
Learning hub lists respite as one of the seven characteristics of life. A virus does not
respire. In the video of Characteristics of Life by Mark Drollinger he states that living
things need energy. A virus does not consume food and does not use any energy. The
conclusion is a virus is not a living thing.
