Sarah Bennett, Associated Director

Arizona State University Academic Success Programs

Tempe, AZ 85281

Dear Mrs. Bennett,

I was searching for the student employment database on MyASU on March 31, 2019, when I came
across an open position as a Writing Tutor on the Tempe campus. I would appreciate having the
opportunity to meet in person to discuss the details of this position with you. Since I started attending
Arizona State University in August 2018, I have been interested in getting a student job. When I found
the Writing Tutor position, I thought it’d be perfect for me since it allows students to expand knowledge
in their own majors as well as help their fellow students using the peer-to-peer learning model.

In the past three years, I have had experience teaching my peers myself in high school. I was a part of an
audition only dance class at Dysart High School where I taught my classmates choreography that we had
to perform for our annual Homecoming assembly. I was able to teach my classmates new dance styles
and push them to try new tricks and stunts to enhance our performance by being patient and
encouraging. I have also taken leadership positions in our SkillsUSA chapter. I quickly learned how to use
equipment such as a teleprompters and video cameras and took the responsibility of teaching other club
members how to do the same.

I will help the Academic Success Program ensure student success by bringing my patience and
encouragement to my new peers. I will ensure that I am learning material in weekly meetings and
practicing writing so I can successfully teach my peers to do the same. I will be sure to leave you an
email by the end of this week. If you need to contact me beforehand, please call 555-555-5555 or email
me at emagee1@asu.edu. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Etosha Magee
