• A single piston reciprocating air compressor has stroke length 400 mm with bore 300 mm
and total volume 30,000 cm3. The initial pressure is 100 kN/m2 and air is compressed
polytropically to pressure 500 kN/m2. The polytropic index is 1.3. Examine the change in
actual work and effective swept volume if the compression pressure changes to 600
kN/m2. Write conclusion of the answer and interpret the on P-v diagram.
