Long Beach Homeless Breakfast Program

(LBHM)

LBHM TEAM:
Braden J. Ellis, Joseph Klein, Andrew Diaz, Colby Barnes
Overview of Issue

The Homeless rate in America is 12.3%. The homeless community is in every city, county, and
in our whole country. Here in LA county the homeless rate is reaching a high peak of 16.3%.
The Long Beach Homeless Team is determined to make an impact in this community. Close to
40,000 people are homeless in the LA county area, and they need our help. Men and women
are on the streets everyday, needing a source of food and fellowship. As a community we need
to address the problem.

Mission Statement and Philosophy

The Long Beach Homeless Breakfast is a program that strives through community and
fellowship to serve the homeless population food every first Saturday of the calendar month.
Through the community, functions are held to provide food and fellowship with the homeless.
Every time LBHM holds our breakfast we do this to assist them with Christ’s love. At LBHM we
are a Christ centered program and want to assist the homeless community in anyway we can.
Long Beach Homeless Breakfast is more than just a Breakfast, we also try to provide care
packages and as we serve the food we send our volunteers out to have fellowship and
communicate with our homeless friends. LBHM strives to provide as much love and help we can
for our homeless friends.

Action Plan

Our short term plan is to get kitchenware and other helpful materials so we can feed our
homeless brothers and sisters at Calvary Baptist Long Beach. Our long term plan to grow our
non-profit is to have fellowship for the homeless people of the LA area. We want to create a
place where homeless people can experience relationships with citizens like you and me
because many do not have the opportunity to do so. It will benefit the community by greeting
homeless individuals and families with open arms and a place to meet new people, enjoy good
food, and possibly building their way up to rising out of homelessness. Our source of Social
Media that we use to spark interest in volunteers with pictures and videos of past LBHB
functions is Instagram. LBHB is different from other organizations because we focus on helping
the homeless by giving them food and having conversations with them to help them with any
issues they might have or with any mental problems they have. The Long Beach Homeless
Breakfast program wants to make an impact as much as possible in this worldwide problem
called homeless.
