Students should attend high school

By: Melanie Rasalingam

Students attending high school acquire the knowledge and exposure necessary to having a

stable future than those who do not; such as building the qualifications for employment,

obtaining the skills for entrepreneurship, and learning their characteristics of identity.

High school provides students a solid foundation of knowledge required for employment.

Therefore, to be employed, many job positions require a high school or higher diploma to qualify

for application. Furthermore, cashiers, waiters or waitresses, and receptionists are professions

that need basic level skills that can be obtained in high school; such as writing, note-taking,

mathematics, and communication. As a result, students who end their learning with primary

school, or drop out of secondary education are not able to find employment because they lack the

qualification to perform the requested tasks.

Secondary education teaches students the essential skills to becoming an entrepreneur.

Furthermore, the path to entrepreneurship requires knowledge in Arts, Math, English, French,

Computer, Marketing, Globalization, and Business. Consequently, the skills obtained from these

courses will assist with leadership, teamwork, marketing, and networking. Therefore, students

who desire to pursue a career as a self-made businessman or businesswoman, would only be

successful if they attain these specific skills through high school.

High school is an environment that exposes students of their authentic self. Therefore it is

a place that shapes one’s character; such as, his or her interests, likes, dislikes, societal values,

and morals. Moreover, these traits are all easily discovered in high school because students are

taught to embrace their independent and make decisions for themselves. Furthermore, students
who attend secondary education have the exposure to a diverse and social community that forces

them to learn of the traits and qualities that shaped their identity.

Overall the knowledge students achieve from attending high school, contributes to their

future success by establishing skills for an occupation, developing abilities for a businessperson,

and learning one’s individuality and personality.
