Dear Sir/Madam,
I have always been passionate about education and its transformative power in shaping societies.
Through my experience as an education institute owner, I have gained valuable insights into the
challenges and opportunities within the industry. However, I recognize the need to enhance my
managerial and strategic acumen to navigate the evolving landscape of education effectively. I am
particularly drawn to the comprehensive curriculum offered by International Business University’s
esteemed institution, which integrates theoretical knowledge with practical applications, preparing
graduates to excel in diverse professional settings.
Family Background
I was growing up in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka. My family comprises five members, including me, my
mother, and my two sisters. My father is Mr. Lokurajasekara Waduge Sunil Rajasekara, and he was
a mechanic, tinker, and painter. He died on September 30, 2010, due to his declining health. My
mother is Nilagama Patabendalage Malani Wijewardana, and she is a housewife. My eldest sister,
Mrs. Nimmi Shayamalie Rajasekara, is studying in Canada. My second sister, Mrs. Chammi
Samudrika Rajasekara, is a former banking assistant at the Regional Development Bank, and
currently, she is supporting her husband’s jewelry business with innovative concepts and ideas for
growth. My husband is Mr. Alensupurage Tharidu Wickramasinghe and he owns a restaurant which
involves providing dine-in and takeaway fast food.
My advanced-level test in the commerce stream, which included business studies, accounting, and
economics, has been completed at Sri Nisshanka Maha Vidyalaya in Kurunegala. After obtaining a
distinction pass in the ordinary-level English examination and a very excellent pass in the advanced-
level examination, I was chosen to pursue a higher national diploma in English at the Sri Lanka
Institute of Advanced Technological Education. After completing my HND in English, I decided to
support myself in pursuing a different goal. I have chosen English as my higher education after
advanced level as it is widely used in international communication, business, and academia. It
especially acts as a stepping stone for further studies like literature, linguistics, education, or
journalism, both locally and internationally. Even though it was an English diploma, it was designed
to cover education-related subjects such as educational psychology, educational philosophy,
effective learning, and teaching methodologies. It aroused my eagerness to study further in
'Education'.
Consequently, I earned a 3.31 GPA overall while completing my bachelor's degree in education at
IIC University of Technology. It was a three-year degree program awarded by the IIC University of
Technology, Cambodia. I have chosen a bachelor of education after completing my HND in English
as it opens doors to roles in education administration, curriculum development, and educational
leadership, and a B.Ed. degree opens doors to teaching opportunities worldwide, allowing educators
to explore diverse cultures and educational systems.
Having completed my Bachelor of Education degree, I have spent the past few years working in the
education sector, where I developed a profound understanding of the importance of effective
management and strategic planning in ensuring the success of educational institutions. Through my
experiences, I have come to recognize that the principles of business and management are not only
applicable but vital in the field of education. Schools and educational organizations, much like
businesses, require adept leaders who can navigate complex challenges, foster innovation, and drive
growth.
In summary, a Bachelor of Education degree not only provides the necessary qualifications for a
teaching career but also equips individuals with a diverse skill set, enabling them to make a positive
impact on student's lives and society as a whole. I then took the IELTS exam to pursue an education
abroad, and I received an overall score of 7 (listening: 7, reading: 7.0, writing: 7.0, speaking: 6.5).
Professional qualifications
My decision to pursue an MBA stems from a desire to contribute meaningfully to the educational
landscape. I am particularly interested in the business aspects of education, such as educational
technology integration, strategic planning for educational institutions, and sustainable educational
initiatives. An MBA program teaches strategic planning and critical thinking, essential for making
informed decisions in the competitive education sector. I would learn about budgeting, financial
analysis, and resource allocation, crucial for managing the institute's finances effectively. MBA
programs emphasize operational efficiency and process optimization, helping institute owners
streamline their administrative and educational processes. Efficient utilization of resources,
including faculty, staff, and facilities, can be learned through an MBA course. Learning Branding
techniques can help in creating a strong brand identity for the institute, attracting more students, and
improving overall reputation.
Education trends and technologies change rapidly. MBA education equips owners with skills to
adapt and innovate, ensuring their institute stays relevant. MBA programs focus on leadership
development, aiding institute owners in effectively leading their teams and inspiring them to achieve
common goals. Owners learn conflict resolution and negotiation skills, vital for handling disputes
among faculty, staff, or students. MBA education can help explore new revenue streams, such as
online courses, collaborations, or consultancy services, ensuring financial stability. For institutes
considering global expansion, an MBA education provides insights into international markets and
global business strategies.
Soon after completing my bachelor’s degree, to start and develop my own business, I decided to
follow an MBA program in Canada that can leverage management skills to manage a business. The
Centre for Sustainable Business at International Business University was created to give students
the interdisciplinary knowledge necessary to become successful leaders in the future. Through
collaboration and interaction with many stakeholders, the University provides MBA students with a
unique opportunity to learn and interact with leaders in academia and business. They provide
students with diverse capstone options to suit their career aspirations.
I am truly excited about the prospect of joining International Business University's MBA program.
From what I've learned, this program caters to a diverse community of individuals hailing not only
from Canada but also from around the world, all of whom share a common passion for expanding
their knowledge, advancing their careers, or nurturing their businesses. As someone aspiring to
launch my venture, their MBA in Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship stands out as the
perfect fit for my ambitions. This specialized program promises to equip me with the skills, insights,
and network I need to take my entrepreneurial journey to the next level. I am eager to immerse
myself in a learning environment that is both globally diverse and specifically tailored to my
entrepreneurial aspirations, and I believe that International Business University will be the catalyst
for my success.
Studying in Canada for higher education offers numerous benefits and opportunities for international
students. Canada is renowned for its high-quality education system, with universities and colleges
consistently ranking among the top institutions globally. Canadian degrees and diplomas are
recognized and respected worldwide, providing a strong foundation for future career prospects.
Studying in Canada is affordable compared to other popular study destinations. Tuition fees for
international students in Canada are often lower compared to countries like the United States, the
United Kingdom, or Australia. Additionally, Canadian institutions offer scholarships, grants, and
funding opportunities to support international students financially. Canada is known for its
welcoming and multicultural society. As an international student, I will have the opportunity to
interact with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, broadening my global perspective and
enriching my intercultural experiences. Canadian campuses are inclusive and foster an environment
of respect, diversity, and acceptance. Also, after completing my MBA at International Business
University, I believe it opens various doors for me to enter more professional positions in my home
country because having a foreign MBA is highly recognized in Sri Lanka, especially in Canadian
education. As a result of that, I decided that International Business University is the best place to
pursue my MBA.
Reasons for studying in Canada rather than Sri Lanka.
The quality of education in Sri Lanka can vary across institutions. Some universities may not meet
the same standards as internationally renowned institutions, which could affect the quality of my
education and future career prospects. Some universities in Sri Lanka may have limited
infrastructure, outdated facilities, and inadequate resources, which can impact the overall learning
experience. The recognition of degrees earned in Sri Lanka may vary from country to country.
Before choosing to study in Sri Lanka, it's important to research whether the degree I earn will be
recognized and accepted in my home country or any other country where I plan to continue my
education. While studying in Sri Lanka can provide exposure to local culture and customs, it may
offer fewer opportunities for international exposure and networking compared to studying in
countries with a more diverse student population. Further, Sri Lanka has experienced periods of
political instability, which can impact the overall student experience.
Further, Higher education in Canada is also highly regarded globally, with many prestigious
universities offering a wide range of programs and research opportunities. Sri Lanka has universities
and colleges, but they may not have the same level of international recognition or research output as
Canadian institutions.

Strategic plans to improve my husband’s business after earning an MBA
Besides my business background, my husband owns a restaurant that involves dine-in, takeaway fast
food named “Wicky Family Restaurant”. The fast-food industry in Sri Lanka was growing steadily,
influenced by changing lifestyles, urbanization, and an increasing number of young consumers. Our
goal is to provide fast foods with healthier options, with some fast-food chains introducing salads,
grilled items, and other healthier menu choices to cater to health-conscious consumers. Through my
MBA knowledge, I will be able to support my husband in developing his business. Develop a unique
concept or selling point that differentiates our restaurant from competitors. It could be a signature
dish, a specific cuisine, or exceptional service that attracts a giant consumer base. Using marketing
knowledge to create a user-friendly website leverage social media platforms for marketing engage
with customers online and encourage user-generated content can be done. Using research methods,
I will be capable of analyzing existing fast-food restaurants in our area and identifying what works
for them and where there might be gaps that our restaurant can fill. In particular, knowledge from
my MBA will help me with supply chain and vendor management and equip me with negotiation
skills, valuable for dealing with suppliers, securing better deals, and managing costs effectively.
Developing my husband’s business was his all-time wish and I am now expecting to fulfill that by
continuing my education even though I am a mother. I have given power to manage my business to
my sister and my husband has given power to manage his business to his brother through a power
of attorney while I am studying in Canada.
This MBA program will help me to expand our businesses into sustainable and high profit-making
businesses as the MBA program provides in-depth knowledge of business strategies, helping
institute owners make informed decisions to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of their
institutions, Understanding financial principles is crucial for budgeting, resource allocation, and
ensuring the financial health of the institution, focus on leadership skills, empowering owners to
inspire and lead their staff effectively, helps to understand diverse cultures, especially for institutions
that attract students from various cultural backgrounds.
Moreover, I am receiving a monthly income of LKR 1,189,890 (CAD 4,896) from my “Siplead”
education institute. Therefore, there is nothing to be worried about after I return to Sri Lanka, I will
be financially stable as I will be successful in both my career and academic path after having an
MBA.
Besides my professional career plan back in my home country, being the daughter of my mom,
I have many responsibilities toward them. I have to support her mentally, and emotionally in her
old age as she always supported me in every decision. She has provided
me with the best possible education and sometimes goes beyond her limits to provide me with
better opportunities as I didn’t have my dad by my side for a long time. I will also have to
shoulder the responsibility of my property here in Sri Lanka. Being a responsible citizen and a
patriotic person, I want to do something worthy for my country. Thus, after achieving the
degree and skills for my career development, I will return to my family and my native land.
Funding
My family will provide me with the financial security I need for the studies mentioned above. To
fund my studies, my mother sold her land (Transfer No. 2581) worth LKR 15,000,000 (CAD
61,728) and deposited the money as a fixed deposit. With a total average monthly income of LKR
19,470,892 (CAD 80,127) and a total of LKR 25,000,000 (CAD 102,880), funds would be available
for my continuous education. Furthermore, the total value of our fixed assets at the present market
price is LKR 54,200,000 (CAD 223,045).
Annual Income = (CAD 80,127)
Siplead (Reg No: WKK/16989) LKR 1,189,890
Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have demonstrated a strong work ethic,
resilience, and a passion for continuous learning. My experiences as a Bachelor of Education
student have equipped me with valuable leadership skills, adaptability, and the ability to work
effectively in team-oriented environments. I am confident that these qualities, combined with the
knowledge and skills I will acquire through the MBA program, will enable me to make significant
contributions to the educational sector in Sri Lanka and beyond.
As stated in my statement and as proved by the attached evidence, I am a genuine student applying
for a student visa and I am in a strong financial state to cover my expenses. To the best of my
knowledge, all the funds from my family are genuine, and I can use their funds at any time required
for my studies. I also state that I will comply with all visa requirements if granted a student visa and
I will return to Sri Lanka after completing my studies in Canada. I’m very excited and looking
forward to becoming successful through better education. Considering all the above, I kindly request
that you grant me a student visa to commence and complete my studies at International Business
University, Canada.
Thank You.
Sincerely,
……………………..
