STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Introduction
In today’s globalized world, organizations are becoming hyper competitive and are searching for and expanding their
presence in new, potential markets and newer geographies to maximize profits and sustain their businesses. This has
resulted in massive growth in international business domain and resultantly a need for skilled professionals in the
global business arena. Professionals with skills and qualifications in Business Management- international business are
among the most highly sought-after management professionals by big organizations. This is where my motivation of
studying international business management comes from. My name is Aman Kumar, a resident of Jammu, Jammu
and Kashmir. I live in a nuclear family including my father, Mr. Balbir Singh, a retired government employee, my
mother Mrs. Kamlesh Kumari, a homemaker, and my brother, Mr. Rajesh Kumar is a student.

Academic Credentials:
I completed my SSC from The Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education in the year 2018 with 62.8% and
HSC also from The Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education 2020 with 83.4% respectively. After
Completion of my HSC, I enrolled myself in the prestigious S.S Jain Subodh P.G. Autonomous College Affiliated to
University of Rajasthan, which is very popular for its bachelor programs. I have applied in this college through
scholarship program which is PMSSS (Prime Minister’s special scholarship scheme) which is only offered to the
resident of Jammu, Kashmir & Ladakh. I have put in a lot of hard work to perform well in my academics throughout
my graduation and have strived to excel in each of the subjects and modules. I successfully completed my graduation
in 2023 securing 66.9%. I have studied a number of subjects such as Management Accounting, Business Budgeting,
International Business, Financial Management, Strategic Management and Cost accounting, etc. which have laid a
strong foundation of pursuing my higher qualification and subsequently my career in Business Management-
international business management.

English Proficiency:
The medium of instruction throughout my education was English. I also hold an overall band score of 7.5 in IELTS
exam, the individual scores being Listening – 8.5, Reading – 7.0, Writing – 7.0 and speaking – 6.5.

Reasons for choosing to pursue Business Management- International Business Management:

Pursuing Bachelor of Business administration has helped me develop a broader understanding of the business world
where I got to learn and explore different domains and dimensions of the business world. However, I was fascinated
the most by the scope of international business. In my opinion, international business has the widest scope as
compared to other domains such as marketing, human resource management, logistics or finance. A career in
international business will expand my scope beyond the borders of India and prepare me for a global career. The
world’s economy is increasingly becoming global and interconnected as international trade continues to deepen
among countries and economies. Companies & organizations are looking for graduates who can address and solve
challenges on a global scale. Thus, I want to pursue this qualification to learn knowledge and skills that are required
in international business context and develop a successful and long-term career in international business. This
program
will give me an in-depth knowledge and understanding of how international organizations work and how businesses
are successfully done and expanded across boundaries. I will study what challenges are faced by international
organizations and how to face and mitigate them, how to negotiate across diverse cultures and get an opportunity to
work with people from all over the world. By pursuing this qualification, I will learn and develop essential
management skills such as leadership, strategic thinking, problem solving, decision making, managing diverse teams,
improving financial performance and researching international competitors. I will learn how to analyze global
business challenges and finding strategic solutions for them. These skills and knowledge will ultimately help me
boost my employment prospects and I can positively look forward to a range of job and career opportunities in
international organizations.

Reasons I decided to study my higher education from Canada:

While there are options in Indian institutions as well to pursue international business management, the very essence
of pursuing this program lies in pursuing it overseas for I really wanted to study this program in an ‘international
setting’ and not a ‘domestic setting.’ By pursuing this program overseas, I will get to interact with students coming
from different nationalities and broaden my understanding of different cultures, which is fundamental to pursuing
this program. Canada, as a study destination is ideal for pursuing this program for Canadian institutions are the
hallmark of academic excellence and world class education. Emphasis on hands-on education sets Canada apart from
all other countries for I will get to implement everything that I will study during my academics in the real-world
settings and get to extract maximum benefit from my curriculum. Students who graduate from Canadian education
system are known to have strong earning potential and are sought by employers from all over the world. Thus, a
Canadian qualification will open doors of new, worldwide opportunities for me and increase my earning potential
manifold. One of the most peculiar features of Canadian education systems is affordability and cost of university
tuition fees and living is among the lowest in the English-speaking countries. Thus, this is the country where I can
study and acquire a world class qualification at a very low cost. In this way, Canada ticks all boxes of being an ideal
study destination, which prompted and motivated me to pursue my higher qualification in international business
from this unique nation.

Reasons for choosing to study from Lambton College:

I researched many institutions in Canada and after detailed research of these institutions using parameters such as
infrastructure, course curriculum, employment rates, student satisfaction, location, etc., decided to pursue my
qualification in Business Management- International Business from Lambton College. The 1 reason for choosing to
study from Lambton College was its graduate employment rate, which is the highest among colleges in Ontario. A
total of 80% of this college’s alumni were able to find work within six months of graduation, which is above the
provincial average and the college has maintained this record for over 18 years. This fact underlines that programs
offered by Lambton College are highly industry oriented and that I will learn a lot of practical skills by studying here.
The second parameter was student as well as employer satisfaction. Employers hiring Lambton College graduates
have reported 100% satisfaction for the two years in a row and graduate satisfaction ratio of the college graduates is
80%, which is again above the provincial average. Thus, students are happy with college and the employers too
prefer to recruit students of Lambton College. Lambton College is partnered with a total of 6,000 co-op employer
partners, which in
my opinion highlights the approach of this college of offering high quality practical experience. Another impressive
fact about this college is the average class size, which is only 28. Thus, I can expect to get good personal attention
during the classroom sessions and extract maximum benefit from the course curriculum by closely engaging with my
lecturers and academicians. Through the college website, I also learnt that the college closely works with industry
and community partners for offering relevant and cutting-edge curriculum, quality work placements and co-op
experiences with top employers in the province. The emphasis of college is to ensure that the students graduate
with the skills and the mindset to be innovative thinkers and change makers who can transform their workplaces and
communities. Lambton College also offers Career and Employment Service Centers where employment services
consultants assist students in resume and cover letter development, accessing local job postings and accessing a
variety of career development-related workshops. I can only imagine how immensely beneficial it would be for me to
study in such a college, which addresses all needs of students, right from offering high quality curriculum, industry
partnerships, small class size and practical exposure. Thus, taking a holistic approach of multiple benefits of being an
alumnus of this college, I decided to pursue my higher education from Lambton College.

Future Plans and Prospects:

A comprehensive qualification of Business Management- international business from Lambton College will equip me
with necessary expertise and real-world skills required for a successful career in the international business arena. I
can look forward to job and career opportunities in my home country in a variety of organizations and business
settings such as working in international courier companies, global logistics companies, international consultancy
firms, international placement offices, import and export departments of companies, global shipping companies,
global tourism sector, international consultancy firms and international logistics & courier companies. Domains that I
can work in with this qualification include Brand Management, Logistics Management, Travel & Tourism, Hospitality,
Retail Sector, Export Import Management, Airlines, Banks & Financial Institutions and Courier Companies. Some of
the positions that I can work at include:
International Business Consultant: In this position, I can help in governing the organization’s commercial relationship
with international clients.
Import/Export Manager: In this role, I will be responsible for shipment of goods and services to other countries as
per laws and regulations of the import/export industry.
International Marketing Manager: I will be responsible for conducting market research and conducting marketing
activities and campaigns as well as business strategies in an effective manner to enhance organization’s sales.
Global Business Manager: I will be able to head business units of organizations in the international context in this
role. Project Manager: I will be responsible for planning and executing global projects via building teams, allocating
tasks and addressing challenges of the projects.
In addition to these roles, I can also work at positions such as a Management Analyst/Consultant, Export
Coordinator, International Business Development Manager, International Finance Manager, International Trader,
Finance Controller, etc.
Some of the global organizations that I will look forward to working with include Merrill Lynch & Co, Deloitte
Consulting LLP, Morgan Stanley, Accenture, Johnson and Johnson, McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group,
JP Morgan Chase & Co., Goldman, Sachs & Co, Citi Group, and Microsoft Corporation.

Incentive of Returning to India

The first and foremost reason of returning to India are some very lucrative career opportunities that the Indian
organizations such as Amazon, Tencent, Toyota, Flipkart, Walmart at positions such as international business
manager, global business manager and Project Manager and earn salaries matching global standards.

The second reason is my strong ties to my home country in the form of my beloved family comprising of my parents.
My parents have entrusted their hard-earned money on my plans of pursuing my higher education from overseas
and thus I consider it as my moral obligation to return to be with them and support them. My parents have instilled
family values of respect for each other and closeness with each other. Thus, I will return to India after my studies are
over to reunite with my family.

The third reason is strong economic incentives in the form of wealth that has been acquired by my family over the
last several years - movable and immovable assets. These assets will also act as a strong incentive for me to return to
India after successfully completing my studies in Canada. To further substantiate my family’s paying capacity, I have
attached the receipt of my first-year tuition fee payment from Lambton College along with a Guaranteed Investment
Certificate (GIC) to cover my expenses for the first year.
Furthermore, the size and scale of Indian economy and opportunities available in business corporations in my
country are comparable even with developed economies such as Canada. India is where my roots are, my family
members are, my family assets are and to reiterate, some amazing job opportunities are for which I will certainly
return and make the most of the opportunity Indian MNCs have to offer.

Financial Standing:
This program is an excellent fit for me for its brief duration and is within my budget. I have already paid the tuition
deposit of CAD 16,978 for my first year of study in advance and also making a GIC certificate of CAD 10,305 to cover
my living expenses. The annual income of my father for assessment year 2023-2024 being INR 4,89,720 (CAD 8,044).
My father has savings that amounts to INR 17,30,217 (CAD 28,422). I understand my duties as a student, and I have
all the resources essential for the program, and I will not face any financial difficulties during my study in Canada.

Conclusion:
As the world increasingly becomes a global village, economies are getting more and more interconnected and
interdependent. Moreover, the Covid pandemic has resulted in new challenges and have forced organizations world
over to rethink, redesign and remodel their business strategies. Therefore, the need and demand of skilled and
expert global business managers is stronger than ever. I have chosen this program with a vision, vision of working
with international organizations, leading their projects and executing them successfully with ethical and modern
business practices. Pursing this program from Lambton College, a college known for offering world class business
programs and
academic & career support services that are aimed at producing world class graduates will certainly help me become
a competent professional and enter the global work force as a capable, credible and promising global business
manager. With this program I am aiming to become an international graduate capable of driving businesses of
international organizations and carving my own niche in the business world. I would like to thank Lambton College
for offering me a place in this program and I am now eagerly looking forward to commence my studies in Lambton
and make the most of this opportunity.
