STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”

Introduction:
I am Prince Vinodkumar Patel; writing down this Statement of Purpose for backing up my Canada
study visa application. It makes me very enthused to introduce myself, about my family, previous
education and study objectives for higher study in the Diploma program of Business from Cambrian
College. Since I received the letter of acceptance from the college, I am very inspired to complete
my further course of interest.

I am a forward-thinking individual who has a drive, ambition and ability, all of which are traits that
are vital for effective business management. I possess strong team-working skills, am able to work
individually or as part of a group, and have excellent organizational skills that I have gained through
my academic accomplishment. I consider my key strengths to be; an ability to make analytical
judgements, people management, making decisions, assessing business situations and identifying
important points. I studied in commerce stream in degree education because I want to clear my
business management related fundamentals including accounting and auditing, however I had a
dream since I’m young that I want to do my own business. So, as per my requirement; I choose to
study business related subjects to fulfil my dream and had basic and further knowledge about
business.

Family background:
I have an aim to achieve great heights in the field of Business. My family consists of my parents &
myself. We get along pretty well and I am quite attached to my parents. My father Mr. Vinodkumar
Ramanbhai Patel is a farmer. Though he has managed to give a very comfortable life including
fulfilling all the necessities and good education as well but I always feel that being a successful
professional person give you all the opportunities to uplift your life and living standards. My mother
Mrs. Dharmishthaben Vinodkumar Patel is a homemaker and she take very good care of me and my
family.

I am very close to my maternal cousin Mr. Devendrakumar Patel who is though elder than me but
yet we share friendly terms with other. He is the inspiration for me who has motivated me to take
this decision to move to Canada for higher studies as he is currently living in Canada. It was his
advice that I had found my calling and so around this time, I began to take a serious interest in the
world of business; especially global business. I think that it is a key point in my life, where I found
myself intensely energized by the possibilities to exchange ideas and participate in higher learning
opportunities from an international institution.

Academic records:
I successfully completed my schooling from Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education
Board. I took secondary school examination (10th grade) in 2015. Then, I chose to study in
commerce for my higher secondary school education (12th grade) in the year 2017. While
considering what I should select for my higher study after schooling, I also kept in mind the journey
of my father in his life. I was also in the process to draw parallels with my organizational skills and
the intricacies of business.

I enrolled in President Commerce College to pursue Bachelor of Commerce which is affiliated to

Gujarat University. There are some key areas and disciplines that play a role in a Bachelor

of Commerce curriculum including Business Ethics, Management Information Systems,

Entrepreneurship, Finance, Accounting, Banking, Marketing, Organizational Studies, Human
Resources, Statistics, Taxation and Risk Management among others. Studying these subjects ignited
the hunger in me to study more about Business. I come on the conclusion to move abroad for
further studies in the field of business after completing my graduation which I did in the year 2020
with first class.

Why not to study in India?

The main reason behind my choice is that I believe that education system in my country is not so
good to appreciate me in my field of study. In fact, my sister also suggested me to study in Canada
because she is living there after her marriage and witnessed about the education system of Canada.
She really encouraged me to move here for higher studies. She really liked the education system of
the country and decided that she will discuss with me to inspire me to move to Canada for higher
studies after completing my graduation from India.

Moreover, I want to get more in-depth knowledge about business & human resource management
so I decided to pursue an advanced diploma in Business. With the wide range of programs and high
value of credentials, it is definitely a better option for me to go abroad (read Canada here) for higher
studies. Universities worldwide have seen a constant rise in the number of Indian students enrolling
for a degree away from their home country.

Why Canada?
Career experts suggest that Indian students should choose business courses while taking the
decision to study in Canada. There are few reasons behind the same. The top reason is that Canadian
colleges/universities offer amazing flexibility to business students. This is why over 20% of all
international students to Canada, including from India, are choosing business-related courses. It
offers various diplomas and degree courses in business and such courses have a low tuition fee
compared to countries like USA, UK, Australia etc. students develop the leadership and critical
thinking skills at business schools. Canadian education is comparatively cost effective and it has a
multicultural and diverse atmosphere which would give me wide exposure and comfort ability to
adapt. Canada’s high academic standards and rigorous quality controls mean that I will be earning
a high-quality education that will provide tons of opportunities to aspirants like me who are seeking
to shape their skills.

Language Proficiency:
By the end of the 4th semester of my degree education, I have concluded to move abroad for higher
studies in the field of business. So, I decided to improve my linguistic skills over English language.
First, I worked on the studying about the proficiencies of the language and then I searched for
various test methods which are accepted worldwide. There many tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, CELPIP,
PTE etc. which are approved by many institutions worldwide. I opt out to appear for IELTS because
it is most preferred test and accepted by majority of educational institutions across the world. I
appeared for the test in November, 2019 and I scored overall score of 6.0 with individual score of
5.5 in Listening; and 6.0 in rest of all three proficiencies. This score enables me to apply for study
permit of Canada under Non-SDS Category.

Why Cambrian College:

Of all the colleges I searched in Canada, I have chosen Cambrian College to study the Business
program because it provides variety of support services for internationals. Cambrian College is the
one of the best College in Canada. It is located in one of the financial centers of the city. It provides

great international exposure to its students. Cambrian has a record of providing quality education
to the students and holds a quite good reputation among the industry. The field of business -
accounting encompasses a variety of disciplines, including Business Management, Economics,
Finance etc; graduates demonstrate a range of knowledge, skills and abilities which are relevant to
both business in general and international business in particular and Cambrian has all of them. This
College provides a dynamic, innovative, and challenging environment in which one can create and
nurture their true potential. It has three campuses and hence College is recognized as one of the
most culturally diverse institution in Ontario. Cambrian offers various programs including diploma,
bachelor’s degree and certificate.

Why Business?
There are solid reasons for choosing Business (GEBU) program in Cambrian College. This program
will cover few very important topics to learn including analysis of the business environment,
managing a business, marketing, accounting, human resources, finance and business information
systems. The college have expert educators. To be a successful professional, one must have good
study of the subjects and it is well said Teachers are Architects of our Life. The professionals of
Cambrian College are not only outstanding teachers but also, they have industrial experiences. This
provides me double benefits as well I will be provided good knowledge by them as well as come
across to share their professional and industrial experiences.

This program will help me to learn many things in the world-class infrastructure which is surrounded
by exceptional educators, to get a hand-to-hand practical knowledge. I will learn how to make the
business decision, work with a team, use business computer applications and effective business
correspondence. I will able to explore my knowledge in business fundamentals & practical career
interests and goals in this 02-years of diploma program. Besides that, I will able to turn my Diploma
into Bachelor Degree after 2 years. Cambrian College will help me to get the unique opportunity to
apply my diploma credits towards a Cambrian degree.

Financial abilities:
As I have wrote above that my father is a farmer and have a moderate income from the sources of
farming. He will be supported by my maternal cousin to sponsor the cost of my higher education in
Canada. I have already paid the first year’s tuition fee and obtained Guaranteed Investment
Certificate of 10000 CA$ which is an important document required to make an application for study
permit for Canada. I have a 02-years long program to study in Canada and they have all the reserve
funds to sponsor the all the costs including tuition fees for the entire program and also for my living
expenses in Canada during my stay for higher studies. Also note that I have taken a loan of INR
14,40,000/- (Indian Rupees Twenty Lakhs) which will be used to fulfill the financial requirement for
my further studies in Canada.

Future goal:
The world around us is constantly evolving. Even as we speak, new technology is replacing old ones.
It is applicable in business strategies too. The future managers of the world will be better poised to
enhance their career, with an international program under their belt. The development prospects
in the region of international business are colossal, principally in light of exponentially expanding
international trade.

After completion of my academic career, I would return to my home country which is a land of
opportunity as even in the scenario of Pandemic of Covid-19, India have attracted huge foreign
investments. The state – Gujarat has been business friendly over the years and it of course is my

birth place. In fact, Gujarat can be considered as Growth Engine of India. Obviously, I will definitely
get good as well as wide range of career opportunities in the field of Entrepreneur, Sales
Representative, Office Manager or business coordinator. After experiencing for working with
reputed company, I will plan to start my own business venture which is my ultimate goal since my
childhood. I believe that I can do it easily with the help of profound knowledge and enhancing my
skills in the international program.

My future plan is also to join back my parents back in India as I am the only son of them. They are
giving their best to provide me financial as well moral support in the process of acquiring top quality
education from an international destination. It will be my turn to give them back a comfortable and
easy life in their old age.

Conclusion:
I hope I have been successful in conveying my thoughts and hopes for the future. I feel that every
student deserves a fair chance to have a beneficial career and to gain top-class education from
abroad. I would be immensely grateful to you for bestowing upon me the student visa so that, I can
continue my studies and gain a reputed Canadian qualification. Thank you very much for your kind
