STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

INTRODUCTION
First and foremost I would like to start by introducing myself. My name is Janvi, and I
am an Indian citizen with the passport number V3250931. You place of birth and
your family members??????????? I come from well established and progressive
family. They have always supported me in my decision to study abroad and I feel
honored to have their backing both financially and morally while I pursue my study in
Canada.
I am enthusiastic about learning new things and I have been a good student
throughout my academic career. I completed my secondary schooling from Punjab
School Education Board with 92.7% in 2019 and higher secondary schooling from
the same board with 97.8%???? in Commerce stream in 2021. I appeared for IELTS
exam on 19 March 2022 and scored overall 6.5 bands in very first attempt.
Throughout my studies, I excelled in every way possible and was able to delight my
parents and teachers with my performance. I always got appreciation from my
teachers and mentors for the work I submitted.
WHY THIS PROGRAM

MSME ( Medium and small -sized businesses) are the fastest growing sector at
national and internationally level. Since Start up ventures are the trend in the
economy, upcoming graduates are shifting to entrepreneurship rather than going into
job sector. Eco system in India has boosted the growth of startup sector with
government and private funding both giving boost to it. We can get connected to
many incubators and mentors online and they connect us to further venture funding
companies.

So , I was of the opinion to go on to set up my own business with online presence as

well. I have been motivated by many startups like Zomato, Swiggy, Nyka, Big
Basket, Flip Cart which have crossed the boundaries to the international level.

But to move into direction, I have to start a long journey for which I have to study
business programme at graduate and post graduate level which will build up my
knowledge for business running skills and about economy as well. Also selection of
Institute was the biggest point to be considered as I need to develop broad, practical
and problem solving attitude in every situation which can be possible if my mentors
are at that level and Programme designed are in such a way to achieve the desired
results and in innovative way.

To achieve my dreams and with a business plan in my mind, I was required to

choose programmes which will lead my path to realisation of it . So I wish to pursue
my higher education in Algonquin College in Canada for Diploma in Business-
Management and Entrepreneurship. Being a student of Commerce, I have studied
subjects like Business Studies, Accountancy and Economics as majors????????
which has already laid foundation for pursuing this programme successfully.

Selected programme in Algonquin College will enhance my skills and ability like
international perspective, using principles of corporate sustainability, corporate social
responsibility and ethics , current technologies, Basic research , Supervision,
compliance with government laws , human resource management , accounting and
financial principles, marketing and sales concepts, making business plan, supply
chain management, and also Develop strategies for the operation and management
of entrepreneurial ventures and small business enterprises, building leadership
qualities and many others. This programme promise to rewarding career as an
entrepreneur of a small or medium-sized enterprise.

The main content which attracted me to join this programme is hands-on projects
that can be customized to student interests. It will include

 develop a good business idea

 set up a business model

 validate business through market research
 managing human resource
 interpreting financial information
 attracting consumer
 make online presence
 launch a business

Subjects:
Programme contents which I found in it are very unique and innovative. Content
which I am going to study in a period of two years are
Business Computer Applications, Communication, entrepreneurship and innovation,
marketing , Business Mathematics, Accounting, Business Laws, Emerging
technology, Marketing research, E commerce, Financial Management, Social
Innovation, Project Management, Digital Marketing, Retail Management, Global
Entrepreneurship, professional selling and others optional programmes.
These subjects which will equip me with skills to become a successful entrepreneur
motivated me to join this new and unique programme in Algonquin College.
CAREER PATH

Upon graduation, we are ready for a variety of career paths. It may be my own
business, manage an existing business or continue education .

I may find a career in:

 eCommerce, marketing, digital marketing, visual merchandising, marketing

research, retail and customer service and management

Although my long term goal is to go for my own business set up , but before that, I
will complete my further studies till Post graduation and will get some work
experience . Algonquin College this programme has pathway with , Limerick
Institute of Technology , Cape Breton University, St Paul University and in this
college itself for bachelors in Business Programmes.

WHY ALGONQUIN COLLEGE

For my higher education, After conducting extensive research into numerous
colleges, I discovered that Algonquin college was within my budget and also one of
reputed colleges of Canada. Algonquin college, Canada offers world-class teaching
and applied learning. Also, because of the several extensions of this college the
strength of the students in a classroom is endurable and hence one on one
interactions with the teachers increases.

This college is the ideal place for an entrepreneur. Program faculty include
entrepreneurs who continue to keep up with trends in their areas of specialization.
We will have access to the Discovery, Applied Research and Entrepreneurship
(DARE) District and entrepreneurship and innovation centre. Also this college has
partnership with Shopify, which provides free access to a e-commerce platform to
launch business during the course of studies.
WHY NOT INDIA

In India, Some of the top Institutes that offer this programme are Institute of
Management Studies, Noida International University , Indian School of Business
Management, ISME school of Management and Entrepreneurship, but their courses
mostly are of one year with course content with few topics to be covered and also
not recognised globally.

Cost of education in Canada is Around CAD 15000 to CAD 20000 for a year ( based
on average cost in Public Colleges) which is not difficult for an Indian Family to afford
who keeps on saving money for their children since their birth.

So instead of getting admission into average level institutions, I decided to pursue

quality education from overseas although it would cost me more than it is in India.
My parents opinion is, education is not an expenditure, its an investment on child to
secure their future. So they supported my idea to study in Canada just because of
quality issue , no matters it would weigh heavy on their pockets.

WHY CANADA
Choosing a location for higher education is a challenging task for me because I
wanted an affordable course with comprehensive training. However, after
researching many countries based on education, lifestyle and reputation, I choose
Canada because it has everything a student could want and I believe it will teach me
about life in terms of education and hard work.
International students can obtain a high-quality education at a moderate cost. In
addition, Canada is a safe country with superior living conditions and a rich
educational environment, all of which would make my stay more enjoyable. All of
these considerations influenced my decision to study in Canada.
