On air jet texturing and entangling machines

BMSvision offres a special version of its optical yarn clearer for use on air texturing and air
entangling machines.

Profile substitutes time consuming and inaccurate laboratory tests with a 100% on-line real
time quality assurance.

Profile ensures that air entangled yarn shows the desired entanglement rate and interlace
regularity.

Air textured yarns are examined for missing plies, uneven texture and bulkiness.

Additional features include length measurement and accurate reporting of production param-
eters such as produced weight, machine and position efficiency.

Exception reporting provides a sound approach to preventive maintenance.

Principle of operation
Reference The sensor measures the shadow cast by the yarn on the
receiver photo receiver.
Infrared light
State-of-the-art opto-electronics ensure a supreme stability
in even the most adverse environments, resulting in measure-
ments which are unaffected by temperature, light, humidity.

This allows an absolute measurement and leads to a detec-

What does Profile measure?


Profile continuously analyzes and monitors:
• Overall yarn diameter.
• Entanglement rate.
• Void length.
• Regularity of entanglement (CV-distance).
• Entanglement strength.

Benefits
Based on these values the system allows the detection of:
• Missing plies.
• Dirty or incorrectly inserted jets.
• Worn jets.
• Problems related to yarn tension and creel.
• Long voids.

What does Profile measure?


Based on the analysis of the yarn profile, Profile monitors:
• Yarn irregularity or CV%.
• Overall yarn diameter.
• Thick and thin defects.

Benefits
Detection of threading inconsistencies, such as:
• One or more missing plies.
• A wrong sized new filament package.
• A lap on one of the guiding rollers.
• An additional extraneous ply.
• Loss of draw on one or more plies.
• Worn aprons.

Detection of uneven texturing caused by:


• Dirty or bad texturing jet.
• Too low or high nozzle air pressure.
• Water supply problems.
• Wrong impact ball or baffle regulation.
• No heating or wrapping around the heat pin.
• Raw material problems, incorrect bulk.
• Creel problems, worn or dirty finger guides.

The 100% quality control eliminates the need for sampling


and lab measurements.

Reduction of waste problem: problem positions are stopped


immediately.

On-line production monitoring and
statistics
On-line production monitoring allows flagging and even
stopping of problem positions.

Packages can be classified according to user definable


grades. This allows corrective actions and avoids produc-
tion of off-quality yarns.

Interfacing with automatic doffing devices is available as


an option.

Real-time monitoring also results in accurate production


information such as produced length and weight, produced
packages, machine and position efficiency, ...

Quality and production data are summarized on concise


reports. Exception reporting and on-line statistics includ-
ing histograms, trends and control charts are an objective
basis for preventive maintenance programs.

Centralization
P rofile can of course be connected to BMSvision’s
SpinMaster system.

As such, all information is stored in one central database.


This allows management to compare different lots, shifts
and machines.

For this purpose, the CIM system provides a flexible frame-


work where the user can set up his own specific reporting
and analysis system.

The CIM system also allows integration with other plant


departments, such as weaving and finishing resulting in a
