Why vote Residents’ Association
RA? four years?
The people selected to be RA Councillors are local
people who have local interests at heart. They
are concerned about keeping the borough clean
and green, a safe place with a thriving economy
– making it an excellent place to live, work and
for leisure. It often features high in polls of best
places to live in England.
RA Councillors do not answer to politicians in
Westminster, they are not tied by National Political
Parties. They are local people looking local
interests.
RA Councillors in the Borough co-operate in
Council to ensure the best services are provided
for Epsom & Ewell. At the same time they are
independent and strive to work on behalf of all
the people in their Ward - a true example of
government of the people by the people, for the
people.
What are the Borough Council’s
Responsibilities?
These include – refuse & re-cycling collecting;
street cleaning; Bourne Hall & The Playhouse;
Social Centre; Meals on Wheels; Route Call;
planning applications; allotments, parks and open
spaces
The Borough Council election has nothing
to do with National Party Politics. It is
about choosing local Councillors who will
devote their time and effort to the interests
of local people.
What has been achieved in the last Epsom & Ewell Borough Council
Election
Under the leadership of the RA, the Borough
Council has:
 made NO cuts to services – despite huge
cuts to Government funding
 introduced the Simply Weekly refuse & re-
cycling collections
 kept the Council Tax amongst the lowest in
Surrey
 re-furbished Rosebery Park pond, provided Woodcote Ward
new play equipment and a skate park
 improved our town centres
 obtained legal injunctions protecting 56 You have three votes
borough council owned sites from being
occupied by unauthorised encampments

EPSOM AND EWELL
 LIZ FROST has lived in the
Ward for over 40 years. An
Optometrist, she is married with
2 children and 3 grandchildren,
she enjoys playing badminton,
walking, volunteering with the
Woodcote Millennium Green
Trust and is a member of Epsom
Methodist Church.
Liz Frost
Liz has been a successful Borough Councillor for
8 years and served as Mayor in 2017-18. She plays
a full part in the Council and its committees;
influencing decision making for the benefit of the
residents.
Often out and about, Liz meets residents, listens
to their concerns and looks for ways to help, e.g.
gaining funding for a bus shelter in Woodcote
Green Road; enabling the street lights to be kept
on overnight in Langley Vale over the Derby
Festival; supporting the refurbishment of Rosebery
Park Pond; assisting residents with planning
applications.
Liz has an excellent record of keeping residents
informed, through the local RA (W(E)RS) website
and newsletters, and contacts specific groups of
residents about issues in their area.
She looks forward to continuing to represent
Woodcote Ward residents, and will respond
promptly and honestly to issues raised.

Bernice has lived in Langley
Vale for over 15 years. She
worked at The Vale Primary
School for 9 years and has
worked at another local school
since June 2015 as a senior
member of the school support
team.
Bernice Froud
Bernice has a long history of volunteer work in
Langley Vale and around Epsom, starting with
holding the office of Secretary of the local
playgroup soon after she moved to Langley Vale.
She also ran the local Beaver Scout Group for 7
years before moving on as an Assistant Explorer
Leader and Leader of the Scouts Young Leader
Unit.
During this time, she also ran the Langley Vale
Village Hall Supporters’ Club, whilst the
committee looked for a permanent manager for the
position. Bernice has also been an active member
of several committees in Epsom, supporting youth
organisations.
Bernice has 3 grown-up children and now feels
the time is right to undertake more community
tasks across all age groups, focussing on listening
and understanding residents’ needs and concerns.
She would welcome the opportunity to assist in
continuing the work of the RA, by committing to
serve as a Borough Councillor, and will strive to
influence decisions to gain the best possible
outcomes for Woodcote Ward residents.
Steven has lived in the ward
since 2010. A project manager
by day, he is well versed in
getting things done. Able to
focus on people’s needs and
requirements whilst balancing
an objective and fair outlook.
Steven McCormick
Steven has long been involved with community
groups such as the Friends of Rosebery Park and
the Epsom and Ewell Tree Advisory Board.
His voluntary work to improve road safety and
driver education with the Guildford Advanced
Motorists started in 2009 and seeks to improve
drivers’ skills.
Steven has a passion for photography, you’ll often
find him up on the racecourse at the crack of dawn
to capture the beauty of the galloping horses at
sunrise. You might even see him up there again in
the afternoon, having swapped the camera for his
wife and his beautiful bull terrier.
Steven and his wife, Anne-Marie, raise money for
Orbis, the flying eye hospital through running the
London Marathon.
Steven is always keen to help and to solve
problems and find solutions. So much of his day
job is doing exactly that, quietly, efficiently and
without fuss. He would greatly welcome the
opportunity to serve the borough of Woodcote in
the role of Borough councillor.
