You are on page 1of 1

My first step was to create a blank canvas layer, that I painted a neon green to

contrast with the dark, white-black image I had selected. I used the paint buck-
et tool to color the background and then pasted the image onto it, from google. I
corrected the pages size (width and height), to fit the image perfectly onto the
canvas.

My next step was to duplicate the page, creating two exact same layers. I select-
ed the second layer and I began to use the eraser, which originally I struggled
with, but after changing its hardness and size, until I was happy with the results
I was getting, I managed to get the hang of it. I found that with a smaller size
brush, around ten to twenty, and a strong hardness, around 80% , I was finding it
easier to handle and manuver.

I struggled with maneuvering the eraser, and cutting around the girls figure,
especially her ankles and dress. I used special effects, brightness and color
overlay to make it easier to differ between what was the dark ground and what
was her shadowed skin. That was very effective and made it much easier for
me. Another thing I found very helpful was to use small click strokes, instead to
trying to use long strokes to erase around her body. Whenever I did make an
error I would use the history tool, which allowed me to go back to before I had
made the mistake.

When I was happy with the results I unhide the first layer and created another
translucent layer that I had written my title on, fitting it between the first and sec-
ond layer.

I wrote forest in Groudy Snout, in capitals and with effects, such as; bevel and
emboss, pattern overlay, outer glow and a drop shadow. The pattern overlay
gave it a very nice grainy texture, which I really liked that effect. The outer glow
made it stand out against the shadows, but the drop shadow really made it pop
out against the light that was ahead of the girl.

I placed the text between the girl and background, which was my aim
and the reason I duplicated the layer and erased around the girl and
placed the text between both layers. That allowed me to place the title
in between the girl and the background which I managed to do
effectively.
