If you’re anything like me, then you’re excited to jump in and plan for the new
year. There’s just something thrilling about starting over with a clean slate and
fresh ideas. Allow yourself to enjoy this process and keep your mind open to all the
possibilities.
Use this worksheet as your step-by-step guide to plan your best year yet. Before
you get started, here are a few guidelines to keep in mind:
1: Focus only on th e n ext 6 m onths. You’ll get a chance to see what works and
what doesn’t and incorporate those findings for the future.
2: Take an entir e day to plan. You need space to think and be creative. Break out
the whiteboard and remove all distractions. Consider getting a hotel room or
co-working space (you can rent out a conference room for the day). If you do
this at home, just make sure to send everyone away!
3: Plan with som eone who knows your busin ess. If you are a one-woman or
one-man show, grab a friend or a peer that you can pitch and catch with. If you
have a virtual assistant, have them with you for this process if you can—even if
it’s just over Zoom!
01
Your Turn: Grab a notebook and write down all of your ideas, opportunities,
possibilities and dreams. Don’t hold back . . . dream BIG. Your ideas must excite
you to keep you moving forward.
02
What are the things you’ve done or experienced that you’re done with? What are
the things you no longer want to experience again?
Going forward, when you need to make a decision on how you spend your time or
what you’ll do, what are your non-negotiables?
ww I will not take on clients out of the fear that I won’t make enough money.
ww I refuse to start something and not finish it. That’s something that is no
longer happening in my business!
Your Turn: Grab a notebook and write down what you will NOT do next year.
Letting go is one of the most important things you can do to create the business
and life of your dreams . . . so don’t skip this important step!

What did you enjoy working on this year? What did you absolutely love creating
and working on? What did you hate working on? What was tough? What
felt difficult?
What do you never ever want to do again? What do you want to change?
What was your biggest money maker? Your least? What put you in the red,
if anything?
What brought in the biggest leads? How much has your email list grown this year?
Financially, how much money did you make this year? What were your total
expenses? How much came in and how much came out?
If you can, get a whiteboard or a big sticky poster board. It’s great to be able to put
it visually in front of you and literally take a step back to look at it and analyze.
Take some quality time and reflect on the good, bad and ugly from this year.
This will be the last time you look back, so make it count. (And don’t worry if you
don’t have all these metrics this time around. Make a commitment to keep better
records in 2019 so you can look back next year and know your numbers!)
05
Phase 1: You’ll decide how you will make money in your business in 2019.
Phase 2: You’ll open up your calendar and plan to make it all happen.
One thing to keep in mind: Keep things simple. The strategic appr oach here is
to decide on just a f ew ways in whic h you will gen erate revenue an d then do
those f ew things r eally well, an d over an d over a gain thr ough out th e year.
Think of it this way: Less is more.
ww Create a digital course and promote it several times throughout the year
using live webinars.
ww Create a live, online workshop and promote (and deliver it live) several times
throughout the year using live webinars.
06
3: Run the numbers and set revenue goals in advance. Once you decide on the
few ways you plan to make money in 2019, go back and assign a revenue goal
for each. You can focus on just the first six months of the year to make revenue
estimates more manageable. You might not have the “how” all figured out yet,
but you must assign a revenue goal so you have something to work toward.
07
To start things out, you might want to get out a big dry-erase calendar and write
out all your promotions there to visualize what you need to adjust or reprioritize.
From there, look back at the list of different ways you plan to make money (Phase
1) and write out what needs to happen in order for you to make that money.
Here are som e specific guideli es that can h elp mak e this pr ocess e asier:
ww Plan out the time on your calendar where you’re going to focus on
each thing.
ww Identify what “prep” actions you’ll have to do to get to your main promotion,
and include them in the calendar as well.
ww After you put down all of your promotions, take a step back and think: “Do I
have enough white space between promotions?” (Remember: You and your
audience need breaks!)
ww Then, take the time to identify your FOMO (fear of missing out). Those
things you really want to do but might not be in your calendar yet. Write
those down elsewhere, to look at and see if the time is right to add any into
the next six-month plan.
08
You’re going to be doing BIG things in this world, and 2019 is YOUR YEAR.
Declare it.
Before you jump into all of the amazing projects you’re excited about
implementing, I want you to reflect on the kind of person you need to be to hit the
finish line with each and every one of them.
Ask y ourself, “If I’m able t o pull this off , to create the most wildly suc cessful
year, how do I n eed to think ? What th oughts will k eep m e moving forward? ”
When I look at the calendar and everything I’ve created throughout the course
of the day, do I feel a little (or a lot) scared? Will I have to step out of my comfort
zone? (Hopefully, yes!) Wh o do I n eed to be f or all of this t o work?
Also ask yourself, “Am I truly e xcited about th e projects I’ ve mapped out f or
2019? Do they all light me up? Will they keep me moving forward? Will I get out of
bed excited about the possibilities and opportunities in front of me?”
Now let’s be h onest h ere. Not every single task and action item will excite you
each step of the way. Sure, there will be times when you are not loving the project
in the moment. Sometimes it’s just tough. However, OVERALL, will the projects
you’ve chosen keep you moving forward throughout the year?
If your answer is “YES!” then move on to the final step. If not, take some time to
go back to the drawing board and work on your list a little more. As long as you’re
honest with yourself, you’ll get there. I promise.
09
Identify your next steps and action plan. Think in terms of one project at a time.
Don’t try to tackle everything at once! If you’ve planned a few promotions for the
new year, make sure all of them are in your calendar so you know what’s
coming up!
Then CELEBRA TE! Planning out your next six months is a HUGE accomplishment,
and you should now do something special to commemorate the moment! Cheers!
