GENERAL REQUIREMENT FOR SHIFT DUTY

1. It is worthy of note that though terminal approach radar services terminate at 2100

UTC, the radar systems must be serviceable and available for ATM Operations on 24

hour basis as the systems are used by Lagos for southern sector AREA RADAR CONTROL

2. Officers are to resume at their duty post not later than 15 minutes before actual time of

watch commencement

3. Handing over of station must be done physically between officers taking over and

handing over

4. Incoming officer should ensure that the state of equipment is as recorded in the log

book by the outgoing officer

5. Then, time of taking over is entered as well as confirmation of equipment status at the

time of taking over

6. In the case of doubt with respect to 3 – 5 above, the incoming officer should undertake

an inspection of sites and systems

7. Officers to ensure that the PSR/MSSR status is constantly monitored through the RCMS

(STM) every 30 minutes. Otherwise arrangement should be made to carry out on-site

inspection as may be expedient or at least every three hours. Also the display/control

room should be visited from time to time to ensure efficiency of the systems
