STATE BOARD OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING, (C-09)

DCE IV SEMESTER, UNIT TEST -I

C-402–RC STRUCTURES

Time: 1 hour Total Marks :20

PART –A 3 X 2 =06

Answer all questions and each question carries (02) marks

1. State various limit states

2. Give the equations for effective flange width of T beam
3. Calculate the spacing of two legged 8mm dia stirrups as per minimum shear reinforcement for a
beam 350 mm wide and 500 mm overall depth if Fe415 bars are used.

PART-B 2 X 7=14

Answer any two questions and each question carries (07) marks

4. A T-beam has an effective span of 4.5 m, c/c of adjacent panel 3 m, thickness of web is 250 mm
and thickness of slab is 120 mm. If the effective depth is 480 mm and is reinforced with 4 no of
12 mm dia bars, calculate the ultimate moment of resistance of the section. Use M20 concrete
and Fe415 steel.
5. A singly reinforced beam 250x550 mm overall is reinforced with 3 bars of 20 mm dia at an
effective cover of 50 mm. The beam is a cantilever over a span of 3 m. Find the UDL the beam
can carry. Use M20 concrete and Fe250 steel.
6. (a) Find the moment carrying capacity of a singly reinforced rectangular beam section of size
230x480mm effective depth with 3 bars of 20 mm dia.
(b) Detemine the spacing of 8 mm dia 2 legged stirrups to resist a factored shear force of 85 KN
for above beam. Also check for development length. Use M20 and Fe415 grades.
