CHAPTER 10
10.0 Computer Aided Manufacturing
Cam applications are used to both design a product and programme manufacturing
processes, specifically, Cnc machining. Cam software uses the models and
assemblies created in cad software to generate toolpaths that drive machine tools to
turn designs into physical parts. Numerical code generation for complex shapes can
be easily done using cam software. There are many software available in the market
master cam x-series, cero, Autodesk power mill, inventor and feature cam. In our case
Autodesk power mill is used for code generation because of its user friendly interface
and flexibility nature of creating toolpath for complex shapes.

10.1 Procedure for Creation NC Code:

Step1: Import model created in cad software to the cam software.
Step2: Add stock model to the part. By providing dimension of block in block toolbar.

Step3: Add coordinate to the top left corner of the block.

Step4: create model area clearance toolpath and entre the input process parameter
value in model area clearance toolbar and click calculate to generate toolpath.
