Reflective Essay
During my 11th grade year. I decided to take CAD class, so I can expand my knowledge

at how to design a structure or an object using computer. Also I wanted to take more classes that

related to computers/technology,since I’m really interested in learning about technologies and

the different types of softwares. And the other half is to learn how will I use it for my career field

that I’ll be doing and for future on. Therefore, throughout the semester that I was in my CAD

class with Mr.Darling . I learned many terminology, CAD languages and expressions. One of the

words or lesson that I had learned was floor plan. What is a floor plan? From what I had learned.

Floor plan is a scale drawing of a horizontal section through a building at a given level. I really

had fun learning about floor plan because using floor plan, you can design your house or

building however you like. Another thing that I learned in my CAD class was precision and the

different types of dimensions. Whenever we would design a floor plan. Our measurements and

the places of our walls has to be precise. If a measurements is off , everything in our plan will be

off too. Like for instance, if a wall is off by a couple inches, and if you build that in real life. It

will be hard to build it because you have to remember your land surface. What is under that land

where you’re building your structure at. Since, you can't just erase a wall and start over again or

it’ll cost thousands of money and more time. Therefore in my CAD class I had to use what I had

learned in my previous geometry class. Since, we had to imagined how will this structure look

like if it was facing this way or moved to this place.

A lot of people asked me why did I decided to take this class? Honestly, at first I only wanted to

get extra credits for my A-G requirements that was my goal in the beginning. So I can be at least

ahead of my peers. But that all changed after I started learning about what is CAD about. I

decided to make a goal for myself. How can I use CAD in real life or how will it help me decide

what I wanted to do for my career wise. Then I started searching up the guide for AutoCAD, so I

have more knowledge for the class and not be stuck with just the basic lessons. Where I can be

learning the advance steps and expanding my knowledge to be more better.

How does floor plan connect to ESET? It connects to ESET by using Technology and knowing

the basic of Engineering. Whenever I would design a floor plan. I have to at least use the basic

principle of engineering. Like for instance, the measurements how big or how wide will the

structure will be and etc. And for building engineering structures. Technology can be connected

when it comes to designing a floor plan. These days architects mostly uses blueprint

“photographic print of plans or technical drawings” (sciencing.com). And 3-d blueprints are

really helpful when it comes to making your floor plan because they are precise and all the tools

that you will need are just on the side of your screen.
