Moataz, the Imam

Learning Priority: Learn to be a good and confident Muslim.

Moataz, I have noticed that you always showing keen interest in prayers and the rituals of the
prayer. As An Nur is a Muslim childcare centre, there are plenty of opportunities for you to develop
your skills to pray . You have noticed that often the teachers help children to practice prayer which
is one of the main pillar of Islam.
The other day you finished your lunch before anyone else have done so. Then you went to the
dressing up corner and found a long prayer outfit, started to wear that with the intention of doing
salatuz zuhur. MashaAllah I was amazed to observe you as you were getting ready. When other
children noticed you, they finished their lunch quicker then usual, as they wanted to pray with you
too. I also needed to hurry up to tidy up the lunch things to help the children dress up to pray.
When everyone was ready, Moataz, you spread the prayer mats for everyone. You became the
Imam. You knew that the Imam has to stand in front of others and you did that. I am so proud of
you Moataz. This means that you are exposed to the rituals of everyday prayers at home, in Mosjid
and here at An Nur. May Allah help you to become a pious Muslim and bless you all the way to your
future learning journey.

What’s next? In sha Allah you will get plenty of opportunities to practice how to pray and
memorise suras so that you learn to pray properly alone.
“Over time and with guidance and encouragement children become increasingly capable of using
gesture and movement to express themselves, Te Whariki.
