When administrating or registering somewhere, not only names and birthdates can
make bureaucrats smile, but also street names in some cases. Wouldn’t we all be amused
at a serious businessman living on Bunny Walk? The names of public places in
Budapest go way beyond Sándor Petőfi and Lajos Kossuth. Here is a collection of some
of the funniest, cutest street names in Budapest.

1st district: Raspberry Street (Málna utca) sounds quite yummy, but its continuation is
Bear Steer (Medve utca) which puts it into a different perspective, while Gellért
Mountain hides the Fairy Home Hollow Way (Tündérlaki mélyút) and Chamois Stairs
(Zerge lépcső).

2nd district: How would you like to live in Barberry Street (Borbolya utca), Dewdrop
Street (Harmatcsepp utca), Ice Bear Slope (Jegesmedve lejtő), Panorama Street
(Kilátás utca), Lord’s Prayer Street (Miatyánk utca) or Little Pretty Street (Szépecske
utca)?
3rd district: Óbuda also has a wide variety of unique street names like Sweet Street
(Édes utca), Wax Street (Gyanta utca), Sludge Street (Iszap utca), Windstorm Street
(Szélvész utca) and Spider Street (Pók utca).
4th district: Chemical streets named Anode (Anód), Cathode (Katód) and Krypton
(Kripton) lie quite close to each other, and you can get to some of them through Tiny
Street (Pici utca).

5th district: The name of Golden Hand Street (Aranykéz utca) coalesced with
the explosion in the 1990s, while we wonder whether or not superstitious people
touch their buttons in Chimneysweep Street (Kéményseprő utca).

6th district: Budapest’s shortest street name, Old Street (Ó utca) can be found here.

7th district: The most interesting street is called Hundred House (Százház), but we’re
quite sure that there are fewer than a hundred houses in the street.

8th district: We can find quite mystical places here, for instance, in Aurora Street
(Auróra utca), Air Spirit Street (Légszesz utca) and Five Lark Street (Ötpacsirta utca).
9th district: Have you been to the lovely sounding Golden Flower (Aranyvirág), Tinkler
(Csengettyű), Polka Dotted (Pöttyös) or Fragrant (Illatos) Streets?

10th district: The street names reflect the different areas of the district. For instance,
Skid Street (Ászok utca) refers to the beer factory, Fattening Square (Hízlaló tér)
comes from the former pig settlement, while one of the loveliest street names, Ulmaria
(Tündérfürt) is also found here.

11th district: This region is full of kind, lovely street, road names from Berry (Bogyó),
Playful (Pajkos), Tabby (Cirmos) to Moonlight (Holdvilág), Ice Flower (Jégvirág) and
Rose Peach (Rózsabarack).

utca), Cloud Street (Felhő utca), Nightingale Road (Fülemile út), Fairy Garden Street

Brother-in-law (Sógor).

Gingerbread Square (Mézeskalács tér) and Mummy Street (Anyácska utca) stand for?

16th district: How about Razor Street (Borotvás utca), Sparkle Street (Csillám utca),

Ladybug (Katica) and Confectioner (Cukrász) Streets there.

the case of Rare Street (Ritka utca) and Rare Alley (Ritka köz).
21st district: The names of public places are a bit more diverse in Csepel with Badger
Street (Borz utca), Tabby Walk (Cirmos sétány), Bunny Walk (Nyuszi sétány), Cosmos
Walk (Kozmosz sétány) and Milky Way Street (Tejút utca).
22nd district: Quite a lot of street names were inspired by nature in this region. There
are streets named after Long-eared Owl (Fülesbagoly), Turtledove (Gerlice), Rosehip
(Csipkebogyó) and Honey (Méz).

23rd district: There’s a Hairdresser Street (Fodrász utca) in Soroksár, but nobody has
started a business there so far. Another street is named Lava (Láva) even though there
are no volcanos in the neighbourhood, and the absolute winner of the district is Winnie
the Pooh Street (Micimackó utca).
