BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE…

Perform a walk around inspection


Overspeed shutdown should occur automatically, if not then
press the emergency stop button to cut off fuel and/or air to
the engine
Inspect the engine for any hazards
Be sure no one is on, underneath, or around the engine
Ensure the lighting system is suitable for the conditions, if
applicable
Be sure all the lights work
Make sure all guards and covers are installed correctly
Do not bypass or disable the automatic shutoff circuits

REGULAR MAINTENANCE TASK


Pre-requisites to perform maintenance

Prior to service start-up, discuss with Plant Operator


any existing/previous issues with the EDG. The goal is
to determine:
What kind of maintenance is required?
What maintenance personnel and skill level are needed
What sub-assemblies or parts are needed to complete
the maintenance?

Before any work commences, obtain and review the
commissioning site
2 Lock out Tag out (LOTO) procedure. Do not continue
until the LOTO procedure has been obtained and
deemed satisfactory

STANDARD VISUAL INSPECTION


3 Prior to start up the Maintenance; discuss with the
Plant operator any existing/previous issues with the
EDG.

Visual Inspection (Mechanical)


1. Check for Oily, Water and Fuel leaks
2. Check for Coolant level, Oil level, Fuel level.
3. Check Drain Fuel/Water Separator
4. Inspect engine fan blades and casing.
5. Inspect the drive belt.

7. Check fuel transfer pump operation.
8. Check fuel lines and connections.

Visual Inspection (Electrical)


1. Check the battery charger.
2. Check the battery electrolyte level and battery
voltage.

Cooling System
1. Adequate fresh air to engine.

Exhaust System

Alternator

2. Check the exhaust system’s pipes, supports and
flexible pipes.
3. Check the mounting bolts of the Genset and AVM’s
bolt tightness.
4. Check transfer switch ,bus bars ,and connections.
5. Check control panel cable connections.

400 hours Check

1. Check and adjust the driving belt; Replace it when

2. Check and clean the radiator fin.


3. Discharge the silt in the fuel tank
