landscapes filled with the tundra, rain forests, deserts and large mountain ranges.

Unfortunately, Canada is on very few globe trotter’s agenda, but look at what they

miss out – icy tundra of Yukon, rocky beaches on the east coast, huge mountains in

Calgary, rain forests of Vancouver – such large diversity in just one country! And all

this can be covered in one big road trip lasting a few months (Government of

Canada, 2018). Another very important thing about Canada is that it is rather easy

to get a working holiday visa. So go ahead and mix business with exotic pleasure!

Things to do and see in Canada


The month of July every year is a witness to several
Calgary Stampede! thousand people descending on Calgary to indulge at
the carnival, multi-day rodeo and drinking event. This
event has participants from different parts of the
world. Cowboy boots and a hat are a must to merge
with the crowds. There is multitude of festival food
and be prepared for long lines at some of the popular
tents.

Canadian mountains offer great slopes for skiing and The mountain Slopes
snowboarding. One of the most popular mountain
town offering excellent slopes is Banff. It gets pretty
much crowded during the winter months as the locals
and visitors crowd here to get their experiences of the
slopes. Stretching from British Columbia to Quebec
there are several other popular destinations like
Sunshine Village, Whistler Blackcomb, Lake Louise,
Mont Tremblant, Kicking Horse and others (Nomadic
Matt, 2019).

Vancouver Island Away from the hustle bustle of the city this is a great
ocean getaway western island. The seafood is
delicious. There are several solitary treks that you
can enjoy. You can say “hello!” to the whales! Or
simply laze on the beach and sun yourself. This is a
popular summer destination and the locals are very
friendly. Victoria is a small city but is the capital of
British Columbia. Go to Tofino, if you want to surf!

The Pacific Rim National Park is a wonderful The Rainforests


temparate rain forest on the island of Vancouver. This
national park is one of Canada’s most popular. It is the
home to trees like Western Red Cedar, Pacific Silver
Fir, Western Hemlock and several others that are
native to this park. There is place for hiking too, which
is very accessible from Long Beach Area. There are
also sand dunes behind Wickanninish beach on the
south beach trail (Canadian Government, 2019).

Calgary Calgary offers a wide variety of fun activities


especially for those indulging on a budget trip. There
are several parks that offer alluring locales for
picnics. One could be on the roller blade. Indulge
your culinary senses by dining at Kensington. Or
simply go into the mountains close by! One could ski,
kayak, hike water raft and even camp out here. Bikes
are available easily on rent and there are several bike
tracks within the city. It is one of the most-lively
towns in Canada with a large youth population!

Toronto offers some of the best exhibitions and Toronto Galleries


exhibits in Canada. When visiting Canada make sure
you budget a day or two to spend in Toronto to
admire its artefacts. The two most famous museums
in Toronto are the Royal Ontario Museum and the Art
Gallery of Ontario. These are not just the two but
there are several smaller ones too like the Museum of
Contemporary Art, The Textiles Museum among
several smaller ones. Most galleries offer a discount
on Wednesday!

Road Trips Canada is a huge country and it is best explored by a


car! There are so many small, little towns that are
waiting to be discovered, beautiful mountains, rolling
country side and loads of off-the-path places that are
waiting to treat your eyes. Car driving is also the
most economical way of exploring the country. But
one must be mindful of the weather – which pretty
often is very unpredictable. Especially this is true if
you become adventurous in the winter months! You
must constantly be on a watch for the wildlife.
Expect to drive for kilometres at a stretch without
even a gas stops or a rest stop! It is worth the
experience however!
