INTITUTO PARA LA CIENCIA

DATE: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24

SUBJECT: ENGLISH, SIXTH GRADE
TEACHER: SERGIO ANDRÉS BONILLA RUIZ
WORKSHOP N°4
PURPOSE: to help students explore the emotions by emphasizing on their self-emotions and their peer-
emotions.

LET’S CHECK IT OUT! Students watch two short films under the names of
“Watch out your feelings” and “The Present” in order to explore the
emotions and the feelings. They need to pay attention to the emotionality
described in the short films so they are able exchange their thoughts
among themselves and the teacher.
The teacher might ask the students the following questions:
- Which emotions can you highlight from the two short
videos?
- How did you feel about each one of the videos?
- Which of the emotions evoked made you feel better?
- Which emotions made you feel worse?
LET’S PRACTICE TOGETHER! The students practice the
emotions described in LET’S CHECK IT OUT! by creating a
dialogue emphasizing on at least two of these emotions (happy,
sad, angry, surprised). There has to be interaction within
students and emotions. Example
Mariana: I don’t like being poor, it is really sad because I never have
enough money to buy everything I want
Cristian: I know that being poor is not cool but you should focus on other
things from life, for instance, our family members are the best thing in life.
Don’t you think so?
Mariana: You are right! Life is beautiful. We can find happiness in the
simplest things. Sharing with our relatives is much cooler that being rich.
LET’S DO IT TOGETHER! The students act out the
dialogue they previously created putting in practice the
emotions learned. They also need to remember the
intonation lesson studied in past days.
