ABSTRAK

Relationship Between Adequacy Vitamin D Intake With Events In Elderly Dementia in


Telogosuryo Rw 02, Lowokwaru Malang

Background: Dementia is a degenerative disease that often attacks on people aged over 60 years,
where the loss of intellectual abilities that prevents social relationships and function in everyday life.
One of the efforts to prevent dementia with intake of vitamin D obtained from sunlight and food.
The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between the adequacy of vitamin D intake
with the incidence of dementia in the elderly in Telogosuryo Rw 02, Lowokwaru Malang.

Method: This study used crosssectional. Population using techniques purposive sampling with a
sample of 26 respondents. Collecting data using questionnaires and MMSE test Spearman Rank.

Results: 22 respondents have high levels of vitamin D adequacy good category, 21 respondents rate
of dementia in both categories. Spearman Rank test results demonstrate the value of sig. (2-tailed)
0487 (p> 0.05).

Conclusion: No relationship between the adequacy of vitamin D intake with the incidence of
dementia in the elderly in Telogosuryo Rw 02, Lowokwaru Malang.
