Othello

Act 1

Once upon time there was a Moorish General in the Venetian army, has secretly married with
Desdemona, the daughter of Barbantio. Othello gave a handkerchief to desdemona as first
gift for desdemona. Iago and Roderigo saw othello marriage secretly.

Othello : Now you are my wife, desdemona.

I will always love you.

Desdemona : yeah my lord, i’ll be always beside you.

Othello : But now, i have to go desdemona.
Desdemona : Ok my lord, becareful.

Iago hates othello for promoting a younger man named cassio above him. Roderigo hates
othello because roderigo loves Desdemona. Because of that, Iago fluenced Roderigo to give
information about othello marriage to barbantio.

Roderigo : This is her father’s house. I’ll call aloud.

Hey Barbantio! Signior Barbantio!
Iago : Wake up! Barbantio! Thieves, thieves!
Watch out for your house, your daughter. Thieves, thieves!
Barbantio : Waht’s all this noise? What’s going down there?
Roderigo : Signior, is all your family inside?
Iago : Are your doors loocked?
Brabantio : Why...? why!
Iago : You have been robbed!.
Brabantio : What are you talking about?
Roderigo : Your daughter was married with a black man secretly sir.
They have just married.
Brabantio : Light the lamps! Give me a candle, wake my people up! This is like the dream i had. I
know it’s true. do you think they are married?
Roderigo : I really do think they married.
Brabantio : Wake up my people!

Roderigo and brabantio looked for othello angrily. In other place, othello went to the othello
house and met cassio. When othello, Cassio, and Iago were going to meet Senator, they met
Brabantio and Roderigo. Brabantio wanted to ask the truth of his merriage. But, cassio
interrupted because the sitaution was danger and cassio sad to the Brabantio that Othello was
invited by Senator to meet him. Because of that, all of people went to the Senator. Brabantio
wanted to finish his problem infront of Senator.

Senator : Here is Brabantio and the villian Moor.

The Duke : We have to send you urgently to deal with the enemy, the Ottomans.
Ah, Brabantio, I didn’t see you.
Welcome dear Signor. We miss your help and advice tonight.
Brabantio : I missed yours, but forgive me. I come here is not about my position. But, i have the
present situattion gripped me.
The Duke : Why? What’s the matter?
Brabantio : My daughter, desdemona was abused stolen from me.
And the man was the Moor.
The Duke : What do you have to say about this, Othello?
Brabantio : There is nothing he can say, it’s a fact!
Othello : It’s true that i have married with desdemona.
That’s the beginning and end of my offence. No more than that.

Brabantio : The young girl like desdemona will never love a black man like you.
This evil have to explain why it should happen.
The Duke : But tell us, othello, did you poison this young girl’s or because of love?
Othello : I beg of you, send someone to the Sagittary for the Lady and let her talk about the
truth in front of her father.
If she says that she was married because she was force by me, punish me to death.
The Duke : Bring Desdemona here!

The door was opened again and Desdemona stood there. Desdemona told the truth in front of
her father.

Othello : There she is. Let her tell you.

Brabantio : Come here, my darling.
Can you tell me the truth why did you married with him?
Desdemona : My noble father, i’m indedted to you for my life and education, and both my life and
education have tought me to respect you.
I’m still your daughter but this is my husband, and just my mother assumed a duty to
you, putting you before her father, i have done the same, giving my duty to the
Moor.
Brabantio : God be with you then, i give up.
If you don’t mind, she has decieved her father and may you soon!
I would with all my heart heve kept from you.
I’ve finished, my Lord.

Brabantio accepted her reason and the Duke sent othello to deal with the Ottomans. But,
Desdemona wanted to go with othello. Othello allowed desdemono to go with his.

In other situattion, Roderigo felt so sad and Iago felt hate othello more. Iago fluenced
roderigo to join the war with othello to do other plan to make othello lost of his position.
ACT 2

A trumpet sounded. Iago snapped out of his thoughts and yelled.

Iago : The Moor! I know his trumpet.

Cassio : Look, there he is!
Desdemona : Let’s go and meet him!

Desdemona was beside herself with excitment. Cassio rushed towards the group of siliders
leb by Othello, and the others hurried after him. Desdemona ran into Othello’s ambrace.

Othello : Oh, my fair warrior!

Desdemona : Oh, my fair Othello!
Othello : It’s wonderful to see you before me.
Desdemona : Heaven forbid that our love and joy should increase as the days go by.
I can tell you how happy i am.
Othello : Come on, let’s go to the castle.
I many things for you.
Desdemona : Oke my Lord.
Othello : Hey, my soldiers. to celebrate our victory, lets make a party tonight!

When the party was going on, iago and roderigo planned a plan to make Cassio lost of his
position.

Iago : Hey, roderigo. We have to make cassio lost of his position.

Roderigo : But How?
Iago : We must make Cassio violates the rule. But first, we have to make Cassio angry.
Roderigo : How to do that? Cassio is a patient person. He never seen angry.
Yeah, i know. i will make him drunk first. Then, you can make cassio angry.
Iago : You can do anything to make cassio angry untill he get out his sword to you. It will
make cassio lost of his position.
Roderiogo : Ok I know.
Iago : Now, I have to look for cassio.

Then Iago met cassio that cassio wanted to back to his room. But, iago did the plan. Iago
offered cassio to drink again. It made Cassio very drunk.

Iago : Hey cassio. Congratulation for victory and your position now.
Cassio : Thanks, Iago.
Iago : This is, i bring a wine to you to celebrate of that.
Cassio : Oh sorry Iago, but i have drunk so much today.
Iago : Hmm, but this from me cassio. From your friend.
Cassio : Oke Iago. But this is for the last.
Iago : Oke cassio. This is your drink. Lets cheers for our victory.

Cassio drank so much. He was looked very drunk. The plan of Iago did very well. Then
cassio wanted to back to his room. But in the way, he met redorigo to do the next plan.

Hey cassio. A weaknes man.

Roderigo :
Do you think othello give your position now, because of your skills?
Cassio : Who are you?
It’s doesn’t matter to you to know who i am.
Roderigo :
But, you are not deserve for become lieutenant.
Cassio : And what are you talking about?
Othello promoted you become lieutenant just because of you are his friend. It’s
Roderigo :
not because your skills or loyallity.
Hey. Hey heyy! Do you think i don’t have skill?
Cassio :
Oke, i will give you a prove of my skills

When Cassio and Roderigo were fighting, Montana saw they fighting. Montana wanted to
make Cassio calm down. But cassio attacked him.

Roderigo : That all you got, Cassio?

Cassio : You want more. Ok I’ll give you more!
(Fighting)
Hey! What are you doing?
Montana : Cassio wake up! What are you doing?
If you still fighting you will lost your position.
Cassio : I don’t care! (sambil menyerang montana dengan pedangnya)
Montana : What are you doing, cassio? (sambil memegang lukanya)

After cassio attacked Montana, Iago came from shadow and asked help to everyone. Othello
came to see the accident. Othello asked Iago to tell the accident.

Othello : Whats happen, Iago?

Iago : Montana was attacked by someone, sir.
Othello : Who has attacked montana?
(semua terdiam)
Tell me, Iago!
Othello :
By whom?!
In my honesty sir, cassio has attacked Montana.
Iago :
You can ask to cassio, sir.
Othello : Is that true, my lieutenant?
Cassio : Yes, sir. I have attacked montana.
 Ok, Cassio. Because of your action.
Othello : I’ll take your position as a lieutenant!
I am dispointed of you, cassio.
Cassio : Ok, sir. (sambil tetap menunduk meratapi tindakannya)

ACT 3

In the next day, cassio was very regreted of his action. Iago did the next plan. Iago met cassio
and fluenced his to talk to Desdemona. Iago suggested cassio to desdemona asked othello to
give back Cassio’s position. Othello saw desdemona and cassio when they were talking. Then
Iago suggested Othello that desdemona has special relationship with cassio.

Iago : My nobel lord..

Othello : What, Iago? Tell me what you‘re thinking, excatly what’s in your mind.
Iago : My lord, Forgive me.
Othello : What are you talking about?
Iago : I think your wife has some special relationship with cassio.
Othello : My wife? What’s this?
I’ll tell you. I’m not talking about proof yet, but watch your wife – watch her
Iago :
closely with cassio. Be objective!
I dont belive that! I trust desdemona is honest.
Othello :
I want you to not talking about that again.
Iago : Oke my Lord. But, you must to think obectively sir.

Othello toughtfully about iago’s said. When othello tought about that, desdemona and Emilia
came to the room.

Hello, my dear othello!

Desdemona :
Diner is ready and the islanders you have invited are waiting for you.
Othello : I am at fault.
Why are you speaking so faintly?
Desdemona :
Are you unwell?
Othello : I have a headache.
Let me bind it up for you and it will be better. (she took a handkerchief from her
Desdemona :
sleeve)
Othello : That’s too small. Leave it, come, let’s go in. (pushed her hand away)

Desdemona dropped the handkerchief and emilia picked up the handkerchief. Emilia was
glad she had found it. Her husband, Iago, had asked her a hundred times to steal the
desdemona’s handkerchief. Emilia wanted to give the handkerchief to her husband Iago.

Iago : Well, what are you doing here?

Emilia : I’ve got something for you.
Iago : Something for me?
Emilia : What will you give me for that handkerchief?
Iago : What handkerchief?
Yeah, the one the Moor first give to Desdemona of course. The one you have been
Emilia :
me to steal it from desdemona.
Iago : Have you stolen it from her?
Emilia : No, i didn’t. She dropped it by accident. I picked it up. See? Here it is.

Iago : Good girl, give it to me. Don’t say anything about this. Go. Leave me!

Then Iago putted the handkerchief at the Cassio’s room. After that, Iago met othello then told
that he has seen cassio used the desdemona’s handkerchief. Of course, it made othello was
angry to cassio and desdemona. Othello tought that desdemona and cassio was cheated him.
Then they were palnned to kill them.

Othello : I’m confused. I think she is honest. But, give me a reason that she is disloyal to
me.
Iago : I’m sorry, sir. But i have ever seen cassio used a handkerchief to clean his
beard.
He used handkerchief decorated with strawberry. I’m sure it was your wife’s.
Othello : Oh monstrous! That is a proof! Oh blood, blood, blood!
Iago : Calm down, sir. You may change your mind.
Othello : Never Iago. Now, i;m taking a vow that i have to kill desdemona and cassio.
But, you must help me. I want you to kill cassio.
Iago : Cassio is our best friend.
But as your request. I will do it for you.
But, let her alive.
Othello : No, iago. I will kill the beautifull girl.
You are my lieutenant now.
Iago : I’m yours forever, my lord.

ACT 4

Iago met Roderigo. Roderigo was dispounted because he couldn’t got desdemona. Then Iago
asked him to kill Cassio because cassio was loved desdemona too. That made roderigo was
angry and made him did what iago asked. In the midle of night, roderigo and Iago trird to kill
Cassio sneakly.

(Roderigo menyerang Cassio menggunakan pedangnya. Mereka bertarung menggunakan

pedang.)

When Roderigo and Cassio were fighting, from the shadow Iago attacked Cassio after that he
got back hiding from the shadow. Cassio was injured and roderigo tried to run. Then iago
came like an innocent man.

Iago : What’s happend with you?

 Oh no! You’ve got injured.
Cassio : Someone has attacked me (berbicara terbata-bata)
Iago : Oh no! Help! Help! Someone help me!
Cassio was attacked by someone.

Lodovico and gragantio came cassio and helped him.

Then iago saw Roderigo and killed him slowly to avoid him would tell the truth.

(menghampiri roderigo dan membunihnya secara pelan-pelan)

Iago : You’ve did very well.

You are not needed again by me.
This is your last time.

Roderigo was death by Iago. In the other place, othello went to the Desdemona’s bedroom.
He tried to kill desdemona. He found desdemona and Emilia at the bedroom. Then he wanted
to interogate desdemona and emilia about desdemona’s honesty. First, he interogtaed Emilia.
After that, he interogated desdemona and asked Emilia to go out and loocked the door.
Desdemona was interogating by Othello about his relation with cassio and the handkerchief.

Desdemona : What do you want?

Othello : I want you to answer my questions!
Desdemona : Oke my Lord Othello.
What’s your questions?
Otheelo : Are you lie to me?
Desdemona : Never my Lord. I never lie to you.
Othello : Answer my question honestly!
Desdemona : I answer it with my honesty.
Othello : So, what’s your relationship with Cassio?!
Desdemona : Cassio is my friend. He is your best friend. I have relation with cassi just for a
friend.
Othello : Lie!
Desdemona : I don’t lie my Lord.
Othello : You have something special relation with Cassio. I know that!
Desdemona : Do you think i’m cheating you?
I don’t have any relationship with Cassio except as a friend.
Othello : So, if you are not lie to me?
Where is the handkerchief that i has given to you?
Desdemona : Forgive me, I dont have it again my lord.
The handkerchief was lost two days ago.
Othello : Lost?! You said it was lost.
Desdemona : Yes my Lord. Forgive me.
Othello : Lie! (sambil tertawa)
I know it wasn’t lost. But you have given it to cassio!
Desdemona : No, my Othello. I never give it to cassio.
The handkerchief was Lost from me.
Othello : I have seen cassio with your handkerchief and he was very happy when he was
talking about you.
i know that desdemona.
Desdemona : No othello! I dont have any special relationship with Cassio
Othello : You dont need to say anything again desdemona.
You are a lier! I will kill you!
Desdemona : No othello! You are wrong!
You can punish me but let I alive tonight
Othello : It was late desdemona. (othello membunuhnya menggunakan bantal/tali/kain)
Desdemona : My othello. (sambil terbata-bata)

Desdemona was death by othello. Then Emilia came to the room then told that a viliant called
Roderigo has attacked Cassio. The she saw desdemona was death by othello and asked help
to people.

Emilia : Sir! Sir!

Othello : Whose that?
Emilia : Emilia.
Othello : Oh you, emilia. What’s wrong?
Emilia : Yes sir. Can I come in?
Othello : Yeah wait a minute.
Emilia : Sir, cassio was attacked by a viliant Roderigo.
Othello : Is he death?
Emilia : No sir. He just got injury in his leg.
But, wait! Desdemona? Is she dead?
(emilia menghampiri desdemona)
Emilia : Oh my girl. Who was killed desdemona?
Tell me sirr!
(Othello terdiam)
Emillia : Why dont you answer my question?
Oh, no! You have killed desdemona!
Oh God! You are the blacker devil!
Othello : She was cheating me and she was a whore.
Cassio had her.
Ask your husband!
Emilia : My husband!
Othello : Your husband.
Emilia : My husband!
Othello : Why do you need to keep repeating? I said your husband.
Emilia : Oh mistress. My husband said that she was unfaithful?
Othello : Yes he is!
Emilia : He was lie to you.
Othello : No! You’re better to die!
Emilia : I dont affraid with your sword. I will expose you.
Help! Help! Help! The moor was killed my mistress! Murder! Murder!
After Emilia asked help to other. Then some people came to the desdemona’s room. They
were Emilia, Iago, Cassio, Giovinco and Lodovico. He saw othello sitted at the chair beside
the bed. Then Emilia told that Othello has killed Desdemona.

Emilia : Yes, he is. He has killed Desdemona.

Gratiano : Is that true, othello?
Othello : Yes, it’s true. I have killed desdemona with my hand.
Gratiano : Oh poor desdemona.
Her father was death after her marrieage.
Then, she was death because of his marriage too.
Lodovico : Why did you do, othello?
Othello : She was lie to me! She was a whore!
Lodovico : What do you mean, otello?
Othello : She was lie to me! She unfaithful with cassio. Cassio had her!
I saw cassio with a handkerchief that i have given to desdemona like Iago said.
Emilia : Oh you’re here too, Iago.
He says you told him that his wife unfaithful.
I know you didn’t. I know you are not such a villain.
Speak, Iago!
Iago : I told him what i thought.
And no more than what he found out for himself.
Iago : Shut up now (sambil seperti berbisik)
Emilia : I will not shut up! I have to speak up. My mistress lying here murdered in her bed.

Emilia : You told that you saw te handkerchief in Cassio.

Othello : Yes, the handkerchief!
Emilia : That’s wrong othello!
I found the heandkerchief then i gave it to my husband.

Heard about that, othello was very angry. He tried to attack iago. But gratiano and lodovico
avoided him. When othello was protected by gratiano and lodovico, Iago killed emilia with
his knife.

Iago : She is lying! I didn’t do it.

Othello : Why were you lie to me!
Emilia : No othello. No!
(iago menangkap emilia dan membunuhnya dari belakang menggunakan pisau dan kabur)

Gratiano : He’s killed his wife!

Catch him!

Cassio, lodovico tried to catch iago. Finally iago was caught.

Lodovico : This is iago, othello.

Cassio : He was lie to you othello. Give him punishment!
Othello : You were lie to me!
I trust you with all my life.
But you were lie to me.
(othello menusuk iago)
Iago : No, othello!
Othello : I cann’t kill you, you better life with your pain and your shame.

Cassio : But you can kill him, general.

Othello : No, cassio! No more blood.
All this chaos it was caused by me.
I dont belive desdemona’s honesty.
That made desdemona death.
I dont have any reason to life in this world.
(othello melakukan bunuh diri)
Lodovico : See, all your lovely man was death because of you.
Giovinco : Cassio now, you are the Genral of Venice.

Othello killed himself. Then he lay down beside desdemona.
