Exploring Vaudeville - 3rd Grade Theater Dance
Directions:
Start with number 5 and then make two other choices to make your tic-tac-toe.
Summarize what can
be found in a
vaudeville show as a
tweet. Imagine you
are the publicist for a
vaudeville show and you want
to spark people’s interest so
they will come to the show.
Remember: a tweet has to be
140 characters or less!
Create an
interactive digital
timeline using
Sutori.com showing
the history of vaudeville.
Include important dates,
famous performers/acts, and
images where appropriate. You
can include links to additional
information, videos, etc.
Design costumes
that vaudeville
performers might
wear. Use a digital
tool of your choice, such as
Style Studio, or the artistic
medium of your choice (draw,
paint, etc.). If you prefer, you
can write step-by-step how-to
instructions for making the
costumes.
Research another
type of vaudeville
act not yet discussed
in class. Use a
search engine to discover
another act that was historically
included in vaudeville shows.
Write a paragraph explaining
what it entailed.
In a group of 3 or
4, choose one type
of vaudeville act
from those studied
(acrobatics, comedy, magic,
group unison dancing or animal
acts) and create 16 counts of
choreography based on this
type of act to perform for your
peers.
With a friend or
group, use an Ipad to
create a video
interview of
vaudeville performers. One or
more students will interview
and record while the others
answer the questions in
character as vaudeville
performers. Upload the video
interview to Seesaw.
Write a review of
one of the vaudeville
act videos viewed on
Youtube. Write as if
you went to the theater and saw
the act live. Tell the reader
what you liked and what could
have been better. Publish your
review on Seesaw so your
classmates can read it.
Listen to a playlist
of music provided
by Ms. Liz and
decide which type of
music would fit best for each
type of vaudeville act. Explain
your choices in writing.
Create a poster
advertising our
vaudeville
performance. Use a
digital tool of your choice, such
as Scribblify.com, or the artistic
medium of your choice (draw,
paint, etc.).
