FADE IN:
1. INT. RUN DOWN HOUSE NIGHT
A hand moves into frame next to the head and throws down a
small bag and a syringe. THE CAMERA zooms out to reveal
PETER TAYLOR, a man in a stained t-shirt, ripped jeans and
scruffy face. He smiles.
PETER
You like that then try the next best thing!
The man at the table laughs and begins to open the bag.
Peter walks over to his wife PATRICE leaning against the
counters. She pushes her curly hair out of her face and
smiles.
PATRICE
Did we win big this time?
(CONTINUED)
their shoulders is the frame of a small girl standing in
the doorway. CLOSE UP shot of KENNEDY TAYLOR as she walks
from the door to the fridge carefully past the two men
slumped at the table and over a pair of boots on the
ground. She opens the fridge and quickly grabs a bottle of
juice, careful not to disturb her parents. BIRD’S EYE view
shows Kennedy standing looking at her surroundings before
walking back toward her room.
FADE TO:
KENNEDY
(grunting)
Stupid clothes!
KENNEDY
(sarcastically)
What’s another night of being ignored?
Kennedy tapes the chalk back on the board then closes the
closet. Kennedy hears a small tap on the window causing her
to jump and spill some of her juice. She looks over to the
window to see her nine year old brother, WILL, needing to
be let in. Kennedy smiles and glides across the room to
open it.
KENNEDY
Pretty sure this is not the time we agreed on you coming
home?
(CONTINUED)
Will climbs through the window and dusts off his hair. A
small cloud of dust falls to the floor.
WILL
Yeah…well
(looks up at Kennedy)
I left the ballpark when the street lights came on
KENNEDY
They’ve been on for an hour.
WILL
But, I had to hide in the bushes across the street so the
druggies wouldn’t see me coming in.
Kennedy rolls her eyes and begins to look around the room
for something to clean the juice with.
WILL
And anyways, when will I get more freedom? You’re not my
mom.
KENNEDY
(laughing)
I’m the closest thing you’ll have to a mom. And –
KENNEDY
You can have more freedom when you reach double digits.
KENNEDY
(whispering)
Shit!
Will looks up and meets Kennedy’s eye.
(CONTINUED)
KENNEDY
Sorry, I mean shoot. Listen, when I open the door to get
some paper towels you need to run to the bathroom. Okay?
WILL
Okay.
KENNEDY
And what’s the rule?
WILL
(holding a finger to his lips; whispering)
As quiet as can be.
Kennedy gives Will a half smile and moves the chair from
the door handle. She opens the door half way and sticks her
head out then looks back at Will and motions for him to go.
CUT TO:
KENNEDY
(begging)
Ow! Please! Please let go!

PETER
(through gritted teeth; whispering)
I told you to never step foot outside of that room.
KENNEDY
(crying)
I’m sorry, please! Please let go!
PETER
Get lost.
Kennedy begins to cry and holds her cheek as she runs back
into her bedroom. As she runs toward her door she gives
three quick knocks on the bathroom door.
CUT TO:
PETER
What the hell did you do to my floor?
The bathroom door opens and Will quickly runs into the
bedroom. Peter begins to run towards the room as Kennedy

and Will shut the door and lock it. Kennedy leans against
the door as Peter shouts.
PETER
Let me in this fucking room!
KENNEDY
(pointing at Will)
Get the chair!
Will grabs the chair and shoves it under the door handle.
Peter begins to yell louder and pound on the door harder.
Will begins to cry. Kennedy grabs his hand and opens the
closet door.
KENNEDY
(comforting Will)
It’s okay! Stay right here. You’re okay!
PETER
I swear to GOD –
KENNEDY
You’re okay. I promise.
WILL
(sniffling)
I’m scared!
(CONTINUED)
KENNEDY
(sighs)
KENNEDY
After tonight…
Kennedy looks at Will and brushes his hair from his face.
She pulls him closer.
KENNEDY
After tonight we won’t be scared anymore.

into the living room. A WIDE ANGLE down the hallway to the
living room reveals her shadow moving quickly.
KENNEDY
Wake up! The police are here!
PETER
Clean up that stupid game, let’s go!
Peter opens the door far enough to stick his head out. He
attempts to sound relaxed. OFFICER DANIELS stands on the
porch, unamused by Peter’s appearance.
OFFICER DANIELS
You’ve obviously seen better days, Peter.
PETER
(stuttering)
Well, you know, I was just, um, you know
OFFICER DANIELS
It’s Officer Daniels to you, Patrice.
(CONTINUED)
Patrice fakes a smile then runs her hand through her curls
to try to clean up.
Peter rests his arm against a cabinet that is held together
by two bungee cords. Officer Daniels rolls his eyes and
pulls up a chair near Will.
OFFICER DANIELS
(uninterested)
I can tell you now this isn’t about your drugs so you can
stop trying to hide them.
PETER
What, uh…what are you here for then?
OFFICER DANIELS
Have either of you two talked to Alex Montgomery in the
past two days?
PETER
No…no I don’t think so.
PATRICE
Why’re you asking?
OFFICER DANIELS
(laughs)
Alex Montgomery was found dead in the alley behind
Zimmerman’s Grocery Monday morning.
PETER
(gasps)
Wait, what?
(CONTINUED)
PATRICE
I swear I just saw him!
PETER
How did it happen?
OFFICER DANIELS
Investigators are looking into it. Figured it was a drug
deal gone wrong.
OFFICER DANIELS
I just figured I would tell you two in case you wanted to
OFFICER DANIELS
(cont’d)
Be a little more careful with your habits.
OFFICER DANIELS
One more thing.
OFFICER DANIELS
Quit letting your addicts use dad’s business cards.
(CONTINUED)
He hands the card to Patrice who stares at him in shock.
OFFICER DANIELS
They don’t want to be associated with a fuck up child like
you.
PETER
Clean up your mess.
PETER
(whispering)
I’m telling you, we’re fine.
(CONTINUED)
PATRICE
(yelling)
Are you kidding me right now? You’re gonna sit here and try
to tell me that we’re ‘fine’?
Patrice stands up, knocking her chair onto the floor. Peter
watches quietly as Patrice begins to pace. The light above
the table has begun to flicker causing dark shadows to
dance around the room.
PATRICE
I’m just saying, there are plenty of things to be worried
about right now.
PETER
I know, I get it. We’re in the same boat. I don’t know
what’s going on but I promise you we are fine.
PATRICE
(scoffs)
You promise me? Yeah right.
PATRICE
(sniffling)
What if this is how we get taken down? We have worked
pretty damn hard to get to where we are. I should have to
worry about some bum down the street outselling us, not
getting murdered.
PETER
I’m sure Benjamin dying was just like Alex. They were in
the wrong place, tried to be cool and ended up dead. They
were useless to us anyways. They usually ended up doing
more drugs than selling them.
Patrice wipes her tears and pushes out of Peter’s arms. She
walks back over to the table and holds up the town’s
newspaper. CLOSE UP of the front page reading “SECOND MAN
MURDERED; DRUGS BEHIND THE DEATH”.
(CONTINUED)
PATRICE
The more people that fucking die, the more stories there
will be about it and I refuse to have my face plastered in
this paper with a shitty story about my life.
PETER
Listen, I –
Patrice cuts him off by slamming the paper back onto the
table and staring at him. WIDE SHOT of Patrice rubbing her
temples, Kennedy still staring at her parents through the
crack in the door.
PATRICE
It’s not his death that’s freaking me out the most. It’s
the fact that whoever is killing our people off left a
goddamn note behind.
Kennedy gasps but quickly slaps her hands over her mouth so
her parent’s don’t catch her eavesdropping.
PETER
I’m telling you, I don’t know what the word ‘next’ means
and neither do the cops. You read the article, even Officer
Daniels chalked it up to somebody being stupid.
PATRICE
(sighing)
What are you trying to say?
PETER
(stuttering)
It’s, you know…just some stupid kids…They see the body,
they leave note…like a prank…
(CONTINUED)
Kennedy quietly opens it and peers inside. Her eyes widen
in fear. CLOSE UP of the inside of the bag reveals knives,
gloves, and a half empty bottle of cleaning supplies.
Scared, Kennedy shoves the bag closed and slams the door.
Will startles awake and looks at Kennedy confused. Kennedy
fakes a smile and stares at Will.
KENNEDY
Shh, it’s okay. You’re fine, go back to bed.
Will rolls onto his side and promptly falls back asleep.
Kennedy crawls over to her bed and lays on her back staring
at the ceiling. Her heartbeat is too loud for her to
concentrate on anything else.
CUT TO:
KENNEDY
I know it’s big on you but you’ll be fine. 40 degrees is
not the best weather for a game of baseball but since you
insist on going –
WILL
Winning team of this game has to buy the other team pizza.
Warm pizza after a cold game, what’s better?
KENNEDY
Either way, coat stays on. Last thing you need is a cold.
(CONTINUED)
KENNEDY
(sighing)
At least the swelling’s gone down.
A few minutes pass and Kennedy stares at the now clean room
and a pile of food wrappers on the floor. She counts on her
fingers.
KENNEDY
Crap, I need more food.
Kennedy opens the bedroom door quietly and sticks her head
out to look for anyone in the kitchen. CAMERA TRACKS
Kennedy as she walks from her room to the pantry and grabs
a few items of food. The TV blares loudly from the living
room, Kennedy stops to listen.
NEWS ANCHOR
The body of Carl DeVins was found this morning inside
Xander’s Motorcycle Garage. Police and investigators are
still looking into his death.
NEWS ANCHOR
This marks the third homicide in the last few weeks. Each
of the victims’ names have started with the first letters

killings as work from the Alphabet Killer.
NEWS ANCHOR
This serial killer has gotten confident as well, leaving
behind Polaroid photos of the murders as they happen.
Kennedy hears the couch from the living room creak and she
runs back into her bedroom. She tosses the food onto the
bed and rubs her head. MEDIUM SHOT shows Kennedy stand up
straight to reveal the closet door over her shoulder in the
background. She slowly turns her head to the closet.
(CONTINUED)
As Kennedy begins to walk toward the closet she stops and
sees her parents now in the kitchen. Peter cracks open a
beer and tosses his head back.
PETER
(slurping)
I’m just saying, who would want to be trying to take us
down?
PATRICE
(sarcastically)
Oh, NOW you see where I’m coming from?
Peter wipes the beer from his upper lip and points to
Kennedy in her room.
PETER
You.
PETER
Get out here.
CUT TO:
PATRICE
You’re pretty nosey. What’ve you heard?
Kennedy rubs the back of her head and pulls her face away
from Patrice. The smell of cocaine and heroin rolls off
Patrice. Kennedy looks away in disgust. CAMERA moves in a
circle around the Taylor family as Peter and Patrice take
turns yelling in Kennedy’s face.
(CONTINUED)
PETER
(yelling)
Tell me!
KENNEDY
I-I don’t know.
PETER
My ass you don’t know anything. You’re always moseying
around this house, getting in our business -
PATRICE
Talking to our people -
PETER
You tryin’ to get in on the drugs?
PATRICE
Or are you trying to turn us in?
PETER
(mocking Kennedy)
‘I don’t know’ bullshit, tell us what you know about our
people being killed.
KENNEDY
I swear, I have no idea.
Peter slams his hand down on the table, it cracks where his
fist landed. Kennedy looks from the table to her dad. Her
eye twitches again.
PATRICE
(yelling)
Tell me, huh. Where were you when they died?
PETER
(yelling)
Stealing our drugs? Ratting us out to the cops?
(CONTINUED)
PATRICE
(yelling)
Tryin’ to take the drugs from them?
KENNEDY
(choking on tears)
I was taking care of your son!
PETER
Are you trying to talk bad about my parenting skills?
KENNEDY
I take care of myself and your son because you two are
deadbeat parents. I don’t know who killed your druggies, I
don’t know why they killed them. I didn’t do anything and I
didn’t try to steal drugs from you.
KENNEDY
(cont’d)
I don’t have a drug problem and I’m not cracked out all the
time unlike you two. You may want to worry about yourselves
before you start worrying about me.
KENNEDY
I’m not the one that has to worry about being next.

Patrice abusing her then cut to black. Kennedy comes to and
stares at herself in the mirror.
KENNEDY
(whispering)
I can’t remember…
Kennedy walks to the closet and opens the door, the white
bag is still sitting on the floor. She quickly rips it open
and stares in shock.
KENNEDY
(whispering)
No…
CUT TO:
WILL
You will never guess what happened at the game!
KENNEDY
Your team won?
WILL
How’d you know!
KENNEDY
Something about that smile and the pizza sauce stain on
your chin told me so.
WILL
(fast, excited)
It was so awesome, we were all tied up and I was really
worried, you know? Then Ronny Pieper hit this homerun and
the ball went all the way into the field and we won!
(CONTINUED)
Kennedy stands up and slides the window open for Will to
slide in, she follows. Will continues to talk while inside
the room. Kennedy shuts the window and flops down onto her
bed, Will takes off his jacket.
WILL
The pizza was the best thing I’ve ever had. Funnest day of
my life.
KENNEDY
Most fun day of your life.
WILL
(ignoring her)
Yeah, yeah.
KENNEDY
Can I ask you something?
WILL
What? Oh yeah, sure.
KENNEDY
(hesitant)
Um…Do you remember the nights all those men were over here?
The ones that always fell asleep at the table?
WILL
The bad guys?
KENNEDY
The bad guys.
WILL
I think so. What about ‘em?
KENNEDY
A few nights ago they got…
(CONTINUED)
Will stares at Kennedy. She tries to figure out the right
words so she doesn’t scare her brother.
KENNEDY
They got hurt. Hurt pretty bad.
WILL
They probably will be alright. You always tell me a Band-
Aid and a kiss will do the trick.
KENNEDY
Do you remember where I was?
WILL
Where you were? Sleeping right next to me I guess.
KENNEDY
Are you sure?
WILL
Almost positive. You tucked me in then I fell asleep. You
always sleep when I do.
KENNEDY
You’re right. I was just making sure you were actually
asleep and not faking it on me.
Kennedy moves back to her bed and lays on her stomach. She
carefully pulls a notebook out from under her pillow. The
front and sides of the pages are crinkled and frayed, as if
something wet had been spilt on it. Kennedy looks over her
should at the door then back at the notebook. She takes a
sharp breath and flips over the first page. MEDIUM SHOT
shows Kennedy’s face as she flips through the notebook. Her
eyebrows crinkle with fear, her eyes widen when she flips

the pages. Kennedy stops and closes her eyes, her breathing
rapid.
MEDIUM SHOT as the camera moves from the bed and front side
of the notebook to around Kennedy’s shoulder revealing
small Polaroid photos taped to the insides of the pages. A
big thick letter written in black ink sits at the top of
the page. ‘A’ for Alex Montgomery, ‘B’ for Benjamin Clydes,
and ‘C’ for Carl DeVins. Each of the Polaroid photos has
times written on the bottom, most reading a time past
midnight. Photos of the murder weapons laying in maroon
colored puddles, body parts stretched in angles they
shouldn’t, and close up photos of eyes filled with fear and
mouths open as if yelling in pain.
KENNEDY
Looks like I’ve got some letters to get through.

9. INT. TIMBER POLICE STATION NIGHT
(CONTINUED)
OFFICER DANIELS
Come in.
The door opens and a skinny, young cop walks in the door.
He gives Officer Daniels a shy wave and closes the door.
OFFICER SCOTT
Hey Daniels, I got some information you might want.
OFFICER DANIELS
If it has to deal with your ring of parking violations from
the Blind Society BINGO nights –
OFFCIER DANIELS
I don’t want it.
Officer Scott rubs his hand through his hair and awkwardly
chuckles.
OFFICER SCOTT
I mean, yeah, it does kinda deal with the Blind Society
but-
Officer Daniels cuts him off by slamming his mug down and
staring at Officer Scott. He shakes his head and stands up,
leaning his knuckles on the folders and scrunching the
mugshots.
OFFICER DANIELS
Listen, kid. You’re a new rookie cop who was given some
shit patrol of some old geezers who don’t know how to read
a fucking no parking sign outside of a BINGO place. Do you
really think this is the kind of shit I need to be hearing
right now?
OFFICER SCOTT
(shyly)
Well no but-
(CONTINUED)
OFFICER DANIELS
No. That’s right. So, unless you have information on why
all these crackheads have been dying in the past three
months…I suggest you leave my office, get back in the squad
car and go sit in the parking lot and wait for your next
ticket victim to arrive.
OFFICER SCOTT
Is your walkie on by any chance?
OFFICER DANIELS
(cocky)
Do you think I would be sitting here without it?
OFFICER SCOTT
Oh, I was just asking because if it was really on then
you’d know that I came in here to tell you we found another
body.
OFFICER SCOTT
(grinning)
I just thought you should know we’re up to the G. Gordon
Hampton, dead in the alley way -
OFFICER SCOTT
Behind the Blind Society.
Officer Scott turns and walks out the door. Officer Daniels
slams his fists down on his desk and shoves the files to
the floor. He grabs his jacket and heads out the door.
OFFICER DANIELS
What the fuck is going on?
(CONTINUED)
CUT TO:
OFFICER KLEIN
Gordon Hampton. Slit throat. Not much else we can tell now.
OFFICER WALLACE
Still not used to the sight of blood, huh?
OFFICER DANIELS
This is driving me crazy, Wallace.
OFFICER WALLACE
Short drive
OFFICER DANIELS
(sarcastically)
Hey thanks.
(a beat)
Things just aren’t adding up.
OFFICER WALLACE
What do you mean?
OFFICER DANIELS
I’m just saying, all we know is that these guys getting’
killed are drug addicts but I’ve been looking over the
files for days on end and I can’t see any connection other
than drugs.
(CONTINUED)
OFFICER WALLACE
Have you looked into who they got their drugs from?
OFFICER DANIELS
(sarcastically)
No, I haven’t but that’s a great idea!
OFFICER WALLACE
I’m just trying to help.
OFFICER DANIELS
I know of a drug ring they’ve been involved in but I can’t
image the ‘leaders’ of that ring would be killing on their
dealers.
OFFICER WALLACE
Go talk to the family. Maybe shake ‘em up a little.
OFFICER DANIELS
And what? Scare them with my words?
Officer Wallace walks toward his car and comes back with a
hazardous bag with a label on it. He hands it to Officer
Daniels who takes it and stares.
OFFICER WALLACE
Some of the only evidence we’ve gotten so far.
Officer Daniels opens the bag and looks inside. His face
goes white.
OFFICER WALLACE
We found it near the dumpster after Ethan Thompson’s
murder. The lab has been running prints on it but we’ve
been carrying it around in case we find something like it.
(CONTINUED)
OFFICER DANIELS
Thanks.
CUT TO:
Kennedy and Will are walking down the street back to their
house. Will dribbles a basketball while Kennedy kicks a
rock. They are chattering. As they get closer to their
house they see a squad car pull into their driveway.
Kennedy and Will slow down then come to a complete stop a
few feet away from their house. The car runs for a minute
before being turned off. CLOSE UP shows Will grab Kennedy’s
hand. The door opens and out steps Officer Daniels. He
stands up and slaps the top of the car.
OFFICER DANIELS
Hey guys.
OFFICER DANIELS
Where are you two coming from?
WILL
The courts down on Plymouth.
OFFICER DANIELS
Plymouth? Aren’t the Rose Courts closer?
KENNEDY
They’re the only ones who have the fountains turned back
on.
(CONTINUED)
OFFICER DANIELS
I used to play ball over their too. You don’t look like
much of a ball player, Will.
WILL
(snickers)
Yeah, I’ll grow up and be pretty damn tall.
KENNEDY
Will!
Will rolls his eyes and looks back at Kennedy who is now
standing right behind him.
WILL
Sorry. Darn tall.
KENNEDY
So, what do you need?
OFFICER DANIELS
Are your parents home?
WILL
We’ve been at the park all morning. Some people came over
last night and were pretty loud. I don’t think they left.
OFFICER DANIELS
Uh, Will, could you go in and look and see if they’re here?
OFFICER DANIELS
How’ve you been Kennedy?
(CONTINUED)
CLOSE UP of Kennedy’s black shoe as she fidgets with a
rock.
KENNEDY
Fine.
OFFICER DANIELS
How’ve your parents been?
KENNEDY
Fine.
OFFICER DANIELS
How’ve they really been?
KENNEDY
More people have been coming over lately. Peter and Patrice
are really messed up. This whole Alphabet killer has them
shook up.
WILL
(whispering)
Everyone is sleeping in the living room. Want me to go get
them?
OFFICER DANIELS
I got it.

down the hall. Will sits at the table. Kennedy grabs him a
juice and a granola bar from the fridge and joins him.
Officer Daniels voice grumbles from the living room
followed by a loud thud of someone jumping from the couch.
More people start yelling. Kennedy and Will glance at each
other then back to the hallway as three men run out the
door.
PETER
What the fuck?
Two more men and a woman run out the door as Peter follows
after them before stopping in the doorframe. He slowly
turns back to face Kennedy and Will. He has a scruffy face,
bloodshot eyes and dark circles under his eyes. His hair is
standing in every direction. He has on a white tank top
covered in stains and small holes. His jeans are ripped
around the knees and he has on one yellow and brown stained
sock.
PETER
You let him in?
PETER
YOU…LET…HIM…IN?
OFFICER DANIELS
Relax, I let myself in.
(CONTINUED)
PETER
What do you want?
OFFICER DANIELS
I came to do a welfare check on my niece and nephew.
Considering I found them both wandering the street and only
Will wearing a coat, I figured you two didn’t know where
your kids were?
Kennedy and Will glance at each other with wide eyes. Peter
and Patrice do the same.
PETER
They always are out doing their own thing.
PATRICE
I know where my kids are most of the time. Who do you think
you are coming to my house and checking on my kids?
OFFICER DANIELS
I need you two to tell me what you know about all your
dealers getting sliced up?
PATRICE
(slurring)
I don’t have to tell you shit.
PETER
Shut up.
PETER
What do you mean sliced up?
(CONTINUED)
OFFICER DANIELS
We finally have all the reports. Each man was killed the
same. First strangled then their throats slit. Some were
tortured a little before but they all kicked the can the
same.
OFFICER DANIELS
So, again, I’m gonna ask. What do you two know?
OFFICER DANIELS
Listen, I’ll give you two three hours to sober up. I’m
coming back and I want you to answer my damn question.
Peter nods and picks up Patrice. He pulls her down the hall
into their bedroom and slams the door shut. The CAMERA
WHIPS from the hall to Kennedy and Will at the table. Both
are sitting staring at Officer Daniels.
OFFICER DANIELS
Will, you’ve got some food on your face. Why don’t you go
clean up before your parent’s–
KENNEDY
Peter and Patrice.
OFFICER DANIELS
Peter and Patrice need to use the bathroom?
Will slides out of his chair and walks into the bathroom.
Kennedy stands up and begins to walk to the front door with
Officer Daniels.
OFFICER DANIELS
Sorry if I got you in trouble, kid.
KENNEDY
Just another night alone in the bedroom. It’s better that
way.
(CONTINUED)
Officer Daniels stops in the door frame and looks down at
Kennedy’s shoes.
OFFICER DANIELS
Why do you have to different colored laces?
KENNEDY
Huh…guess I didn’t even realize it. Will probably stole the
other one for a project or something.

stares at the reporter.

PETER
ESPECIALLY if they are a cop!
KENNEDY
He just –

longer. I’m only doing it to save you, Will, and your mom
from whoever keeps killing us off.
KENNEDY
Don’t try to care about me and Will now.
PETER
Don’t even start with me.
KENNEDY
You haven’t cared about me for the past thirteen years so

KENNEDY

KENNEDY
Will, look at me.
WILL

I’m fine, leave me alone!
KENNEDY
Will, what happened to you?
Will ignores Kennedy and grabs an old towel from his bed

his face. Kennedy walks over and tries to help him by

You! You are the problem! You are constantly babying me and
trying to do everything for me! Yeah, maybe I did need it
before, but I don’t want you to help me anymore.
WILL
(yelling)
You used to be there for me. I had someone to protect me
from this shithole of a family but lately you’ve left me to
defend myself when I didn’t know what to do!
WILL

For the past how many days I’ve gotten my ass kicked by
those two out there and where have you been?
KENNEDY
Will, I -
WILL
Just leave me alone. I gotta learn how to figure this out
on my own. Go do whatever it is you were doing. I don’t
need you.
Will walks past Kennedy bumping her shoulder along the way.
She stares at where Will walked out, her eyes dart from the
doorway to the drops of blood on the floor. She mutters to

herself before kicking stuff around the room in anger. She
scrunches her face, confused, and swings open her door and
walks to the bathroom before banging on the door until Will
opens up.
WILL
What?
KENNEDY
Will I don’t know what you’re talking about? I have always
been there for you!
WILL
Funny because you haven’t been home in a week.
KENNEDY
(confused)
What?
WILL
Don’t ask me. You are gone every night and when you come
home it’s the afternoon. You sleep for a few hours then
leave.
WILL
I’ve had to deal with those two because you haven’t been
here.
KENNEDY
What is going on?
(CONTINUED)
she calms down. She flicks on the flashlight and opens the
bag. The same supplies are in there including the notebook.
MEDIUM SHOT as Kennedy opens the book and flips the pages.
She gasps in horror and drops the book on the floor as she
leans back and cries.
KENNEDY
(sobbing)
This isn’t happening.

Officer Daniels faces the camera and stares.
OFFICER DANIELS
It all makes sense.
He drops his marker then moves back to his desk to grab his
jacket before running out the door. CAMERA PANS over from
the door to the whiteboard.

A crack of lightening lights up two hands being tied
together.

CAMERA SLOWLY MOVES IN toward the board to show what
Officer Daniels has written.
CUT TO:
Officer Daniels is in his car driving quickly. He continues
to check his watch. He picks up his walkie-talkie and
begins to talk to dispatch.
OFFICER DANIELS
I’m gonna need back up. I figured out when the next
alphabet killing is going to happen.
CUT TO:
The board reads the names of all the victims, time of
death, and location they were found. A VOICE OVER of
Officer Daniels explains. CAMERA still ZOOMS IN to white
board.
OFFICER DANIELS
Each of the men who were murdered had their names in the
order of the alphabet, which everyone easily figured out.
Their times of death were all between 12:30AM and 1:15AM
with the bodies being found hours later. The thing that
(CONTINUED)
connects these murders is their location. The letter of
their first name corresponds with the last letters of the
alphabet.
OFFICER DANIELS
Alex Montgomery, found behind Zimmerman’s Grocery on
Zimmerman Way. Benjamin Clydes, Youth Street. Carl DeVins,
Xander St. A equals Z, B equals Y and it keeps going.

OFFICER DANIELS
I don’t know who it is yet but I know where they are.

The woman is cut off and starts to gasp for air. The sound
of fighting can be heard. Officer Daniels pulls his gun out
of his holster, takes a breath then turns the corner toward
the woman.
CUT TO:
A BIRDS EYE VIEW shows Officer Daniels standing with his
gun pointed out, toward the back of a person’s body. There
is a woman in front of them, kicking and fighting back.
Another body lay on the ground to the side, a puddle of
blood underneath them. Flashes of lightening light up the
scene. MEDIUM SHOT of Officer Daniels as he starts yelling.
OFFICER DANIELS
Let go of the girl and drop your weapons!
OFFICER DANIELS
I said let go of the girl!

OFFICER DANIELS
I’m gonna need back up. Gas station at Rock and Quebec.
OFFICER DANIELS
Drop your weapons!
OFFICER DANIELS
I know who you are. You’ve made quite the name for
yourself. The first serial killer to ever come across this
area.
OFFICER DANIELS
I’ve looked out for you. I came to your house. I didn’t
want to believe it was you but when I got that shoe lace I
had a suspicion.
OFFICER DANIELS
I put the pieces together. A to Z, B to Y. I’ll admit it
was clever.
(a beat)
I just cant believe it was you, Ken-
OFFICER DANIELS
(astonished)
Will.
(CONTINUED)
Officer Daniels lowers his gun, shocked by what he is
seeing. Will walks toward him.
OFFICER DANIELS
(stuttering)
How…could…you
WILL
Surprised?
Will walks closer and Officer Daniels steps back and raises
his gun once more.
OFFICER DANIELS
But all the signs where there for it to be Kennedy.
WILL
(grinning)
Like what?
WILL
Let’s start from the beginning.
A crack of thunder.
WILL
Peter and Patrice continued to beat Kennedy and I up. Like
any normal person would feel, I was fed up. Why should a
thirteen year old have to be taking care of a nine year
old?
WILL
I figured, if I saw my parents get high and do all this
stupid stuff and not get hurt by it then if I was high and
they beat me around I wouldn’t feel it. I didn’t actually
mean to kill Alex, that one…that was an accident. I
remember he was at the house one night so I knew he’d have
(CONTINUED)
something on him. I followed him to the alley way behind
Zimmerman’s. He didn’t want anything to do with me.
Fitting, right? I didn’t mean to but I got so angry and I
pulled the knife on him.
WILL
It was a happy accident that Benjamin came next. Then Carl,
then someone at the baseball courts mentioned an alphabet
killer. I guess it all went downhill from there…or uphill
depending on which way you look at it.
OFFICER DANIELS
Why not just steal from your parents?
WILL
And get beat even more? It’s honestly easier to hurt people
when their high and moving slow than to try and steal.
OFFICER DANIELS
What about your sister?
WILL
I switched our laces so people wouldn’t start to guess. You
know, maybe it was just a fashion trend. She’s the one that
actually started to ruin it.
WILL
She found the bag of stuff I’d been using. The camera, my
book, the tarps. She was easily convinced it was hers. She
started to realize that she couldn’t remember where she was
certain nights and whatnot. I guess she doesn’t know that I
wanted to see what drugs would do to someone so little. I
would drug her juice and she’d be out.
WILL
I just played along with it all. She thought she’d be out
all night and that she blacked out. Just weird she never
(CONTINUED)
caught on that I always had basketball or baseball going
on. She never really knew where I was. I will tell you
though
WILL
That Heath Jergen’s can put up one hell of fight. I easily
passed the battle wounds off as a night with Peter and
Patrice.
WILL
I just wanted all of the abuse to end. I thought I could
scare everyone enough to make it all stop.
OFFICER DANIELS
Will, you’re in a lot of trouble.
WILL
I’m sorry. I don’t know what happened. I just wanted a good
life.
Officer Daniels yells out and looks down to face Will who
is looking up with sorrow-filled eyes.
WILL
(gasping)
I…just…wanted a good…life…
(CONTINUED)
Officer Daniels yells out as other police officers run to
the back of the gas station. CLOSE UP shot shows Officer
Daniels hands on Will’s back but focusing on his watch. It
reads 1:15AM. BIRDS EYE view shows the officers running
around, the lights from the squad cars turning the scene
red and blue. There is a flash of lightening and a crack of
thunder.
