Change: Personal Growth

What’s different this year?

Think about yourself as a sophomore compared to yourself in younger years.

1. How has your social life changed? Are you still friends with the same people? Why or why
not?
I went through a lot of friend drama when I was in elementary and middle school, but
then I moved from Healdsburg to Cloverdale in eighth grade where I met new friends. In ninth
grade our friendships got stronger, and they turned out to be my true best friends. I am still in
touch with my only real friend from Healdsburg but since we don’t see eachother much we have
drifted apart.

2. How have your personal interests, hobbies, and/or activities changed or developed?
When I was eight years old I got into Kempo which is a form of martial arts but then I
quit in sixth grade to do Basketball, because my friends made me. In eighth grade I realized that I
didn’t really enjoy the sport so I quit. Later in eighth grade one of my friends convinced me to do
track and field and I ended up loving it. After track I did Cross Country in the fall of ninth grade,
and track in the spring. This year I am still doing running sports, and I plan to do it through
Senior year, and maybe even in college.

3. How have you changed or developed as a student?

When I was little I would always get distracted by the littlest things, but now I am more
focused, I study, and I don’t throw a fit when I get assigned homework.

4. How have you grown or developed physically or emotionally?

Over the years I have gotten a lot taller.

5. How has your relationship with your family changed? What kinds of freedoms, expectations,
responsibilities, or opportunities do you have now that you didn’t have before?

When I was little my parents had to meet the parents of the kids that I hung out with, but now
they don’t really care.

6. What advice would you give yourself as you look ahead?

Some advice that I would give to myself would be in order to get the life you want you
have to work for it because no one is going to hand it to you.
