Extracurricular Experience

Describe the activities you have participated in. These might include sports, ASB, clubs, theater,
church groups, or other organized activities outside of regular school hours.

On average, how many hours do you dedicate to your extracurricular life each week or month?
On average, I probably dedicate six out of seven days of the week to extracurricular activities. I
have soccer which usually takes up five days of my week. I have Upward Bound which takes up
one day a week during school. Lastly, I have work which takes up either two or three days of my
week.

Have you enjoyed your extracurricular experiences so far? Why or why not?
Yes I have enjoyed my extracurricular activities so far because I love playing Soccer and earning
money. At times it can be stressful, but managing my time comes in handy.

What kinds of soft skills, academic skills, and/or specialized training have you needed to use to
participate fully in these experiences?
I have to utilize my time management skills as well as my patience. At times I can get frustrated
because I have too much going on, but my time management skills have helped my life go a little
smoother.

How might these skills be used in a career or college environment?

These skills will be utilized in my career or college environment because in order to finish all of
my school work or regular work, I would need to manage my time efficiently. I would need
patience when working with my peers; if someone doesn’t complete their work I would need to
have patience to understand their point of view.

What have learned about yourself so far by participating in extracurricular activities?

I have learned that when I have too much on my plate, things do not go too well. I’ve learned
that I need some time to myself in order to continue on with the weeks. I think I’ve grown as a
person; I know when to help others and when it's time to help myself.
