THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

In this study the theoretical framework this study is based on is on a self-disclosure theory.
In the self-disclosure theory there are three factors that I find that are important that I will
explain below.

Self-disclosure is simply the process of communication by which one person reveals

information about themselves to another.

Self –Image in this theory it is very important. Self -image is defined as the way we see
ourselves or it’s the mental image we created for ourselves overtime or over our life time. In
this theory children who were confident in their abilities to solve the puzzle did so but they did
not want to boast about themselves or get any recognition.

Self-Esteem is the way we value ourselves or in other words our self-worth. In this theory
children had self-esteem they just don’t go bragging about it instead they play coy.

The self confidence is the belief you have in yourself; it’s your knowledge and your abilities
about yourself and your judgements.

These are connected because they all work together very well. If you are not confident and
you have low self- esteem of yourself it’s hard for you to achieve what it is that you are trying
to accomplish. Some of the children were not able to solve the puzzle but they in turn ask for
help from those who did.

So it’s very important to instill self-esteem and self- image along with self confidence in
children when they are very young so that they are able to believe in themselves and achieve
their goals because if they have low self- confidence or self-image they will not believe they are
able to achieve their goals and we need to instill these thoughts as early as possible.
