Career Readiness Reflection

(for Career Choices Events, Mock Interviews, Field Trips, Industry Expert One-On-Ones,
Simulations, Guest Speakers, etc.)

Date of presentation/event: Location: William Jessup University

June 6, 2018

Brief description of activity (what was it?):

This was during a volleyball camp for girls aged 15-18 who were looking to play volleyball in
college. The head coach had a meeting for any of the girls who wanted to attend, at the end of the
last day, to meet with professors and speak to a couple from that University.

Why did you choose to attend this presentation?

I decided to go to this presentation because it seemed like a good way to get a small insite of
college life and potentially see what coaches and professors really pay attention to.

What did you learn about this career/field that is appealing to you?
I learned that coaching can be extremely exhausting and stressful but also comes with a lot of
love and happiness of having your own team.

What areas of this career/field might be difficult for you?

I still have much to learn about coaching and volleyball before I can even think of trying
to fully apply myself to educating others on volleyball but by the time I am ready, it should not
be as difficult as I imagine right now.

What skills have you already developed that would help you in this career/field?
I have very good communication skills and teamwork skills.

What skills would you need to further develop (or begin to develop) to be successful in this
career/field?
I need to further develop my comfort of speaking in front of very large crowds and also when put
on the spot.
