 What is the Course title?
Sports journalism at Plymouth Marjon University

 What Content will you cover on the course?

It will cover sports journalism such as writing reports for sports teams
such as Plymouth Argyle and Plymouth Raiders and such but then as well
as creating/writing reports, you would be interviewing players after
games and before, match commentary as well during live games, filming
and editing live footage.

 What are the Requirements of the course?

Applicants must have three A-levels at grades CCC or above, BTEC triple grades
MMM or above, or Access 23-45 D/M with min 6D and GCSE English Language
at grade 4 or grade C or above.

 Where is the Location of the course?

The location of this course is in Plymouth

 What extra Opportunities does it provide?

Working with the BBC as well and working with other sport related industries
such as sky sports and itv and this could build up my network a lot more but
also I would gain an incredible amount of work experience as well and you’d
work with Plymouth radio as well again building up experience and network.
 Is it well Reviewed?
Yes it is very well reviewed, one review really catching my eye was BBC
commentator John Roder who claimed ‘that the opportunities available
doesn’t quite exist anywhere else and claiming that they are really well taught
as well.’

 Why do you like this particular course?

I like this particular course because of the opportunities that are being said on
the website are opportunities that I would’ve dreamed of and that it would
really help start my career but also its because this is what I would love to do in
the future as well, working with sport companies/teams and taking, writing
and editing footage, games and all sorts.

ACTIVITY b

 What does the Course title say to you about the course content?
That it will be exciting for someone like me at least as this is what I
would love to do in the future and by looking at the course title I feel
that it would give me all the experience and contacts needed to get to
the position I want to be at

 Does the Content interest you? Why?

It mainly interests me as you go to places that I would like to work with
in the future such as sky sports and BBC as they are incredible
experiences and fantastic companies.

 Can you achieve these Requirements of the course? How?

Yes I could achieve these requirements of the course by working hard at
college, making sure my punctuality is very good also my attendance must be
very good as well.
 How will that Location benefit you?
It allows me to create new contacts with other companies and people, ones
that I might not get elsewhere also by doing this it expands my network and
it allows me to make more of a name for myself.

 Why are the extra Opportunities important to you?

Extra opportunities are important to me as I would want as many opportunities
as I could get to prove myself and gain a lot of experience and learn so much
more about the course and the media industry.

 What do the Reviews mean to you?

Shows that the university is obviously good and that it is worth me going to,
it also feels me with inspiration to try my hardest to advance into that
university.

 What is different about this particular course?

One of the main things I noticed was the amount of companies

and how big the companies you work with are for example you
will work with Sky Sports and BBC and there aren’t are whole
lot of universities that offer those opportunties.

ACTIVITY c
 What does the Course title say to you about the course content? Is this
the direction you want to go in?
The course title gives off good vibes in that it’s exactly the direction I
want to go in, working in the sports media industry is the exact direction
I would love to go In.

 Does the Content match your skillset?

I believe it does as I am very much more of a practical person as I would
rather get on and do stuff I also learn better when I'm doing it there and
then or seeing it in front of me.

 What goals do you need to achieve to reach the Requirements of the

course?
I would need to be better at my time management and achieve that goal; it
is probably my biggest goal out of the others I've got, another goal of mine
is that I would be doing work experience or working at a football club.

 What are the downsides of that Location?

One of the downsides is that it is quit far away from where I live anyway
so I'd have to stay in dorms which arguably could be more of positive
than a negative but it isn’t free and I would have to pay

 What are the main Pro’s and Con’s of this course?

Pro’s being that you work with some very good companies e.g. Sky
sport which is where I really want to work in the future.
Has a had a lot of success with students and has really good reviews
The equipment is fantastic, some of the best equipment out there.
Con’s the only con that I can really think of I that it is far away from
where I live now other than that I can’t really think of any.
