Description:
The training stand allows the demonstration on an acceleration process with a mangling traction at the drive
axle. During the acceleration of the car, the interfering of the traction control TC with EDS (selective brake of
the wheelspin) and ASR (reducing the motor power) can be observed.
When slowing down the car from high speeds, the ABS-enty is apparent. Depending on the tendency to wheel-
lock up resp. to the traction at the corresponding wheel, disposable for the brake process, a modulation of the
brake pressure effects.
In the case of deviation between desired guidance direction of the driver and actual trip process and with slip
danger, ESP goes into action. The vehicle is stabilized by selective applying brakes gently of all four wheels
and/or the desired guidance direction is supported.
The supplied computer program allows an easy to understand observation of the control processes.

Drive axle with differential

Training stand ABS-EDS-ASR-ESP

The movable training stand is equipped with original parts of an TEVES MK60-ABS-brake system, which con-
tains the operation characteristics EDS (electronic differential lock), ASR (anti slack regulation) and ESP
(electronic stability program).
The system building is analog to the relationships at the original vehicle. On the front plate there are 4 wheels
with each a wheel speed sensor and wheel brake cylinder. All 4 wheels support on a dynamometer where the 4
rolls are connected together and turn with the same speed. To simulate dynamic vehicle starting and braking
behaviour the rolls drive a rotating mass, which simulates the mass inertia of the accelerated and braked vehic-
le.
The drive of the ´vehicle´, that means the acceleration of the rotating mass, effects at the drive axle by a diffe-
rential gear unit. This allows the demonstration of the EDS resp. B-ASR starting aid by means of traction displa-
cement by selective braking of the spinning wheel.
The MK60-control device can affect the propulsion moment at the drive axle at the Training stand directly, so
that a closed ASR - control loop is present.
With the ABS-operation thhe flywheel mass, turning with high speed, is slowed down by the wheels which are
running on the rolls. If one of the wheels goes to the block-out area at the deceleration of the flywheel mass, the
ABS is operated. Due to the fact that during the brake process kinetic energy is really decomposed, lifelike bra-
ke tests can be carried out.
The interference ESP (selective apply brakes gently all 4 wheels, decrease of engine performance) can be re-
leased and keep an eye by signal input at the guidance angle sensor (steering wheel to turn), turning rate and
transverse acceleration sensor. The associated PC-program calculated of travel speed and guidance angles the
theoretical turning rate and transverse acceleration and feeds these values into the MK60-control device. There-
by a closed ESP control loop is ensured, which the control device expects, in order to recognize no malfunctio-
ning and go into ´Error´.
For a comprehensive presentation of the rule process the Training stand contains an installation in each case
an electronic pressure sensor at the main and wheel brake cylinder (drive axle in front/on the right).
