INDIVIDUAL REFLECTION
TEAM PERFORMANCE
Effective team performance is a result of combined efforts from every member of the team. It
comes through effective communication, efforts, enthusiasm and leadership (Mone and London,
2018). Moreover, it is important to combine the resources and talent effectively to attain good
results.

My performance as a team member is evident from my rating and can be justified based on
the following elements of the review. I added my complimentary skills and provided the team
with my own ideas and opinions and gave feedback on some important decisions. I believe in
open communication and sticking to the commitments made to the team. Critical evidences are
given by me to support effective decision making. This helped me in making stronger
foundations for the decisions.

My peer ratings are significantly low in some aspects. These include the inability to deliver
high and consistent contributions, lack in paying attention to small details and my overall team
performance. In order to improve my performance in these aspects, I used various theories and
approaches including the Gibbs Reflective Cycle, to analyze my strengths and weaknesses in the
course. It helped me in improving my skills and knowledge (Lia, 2016). This helped in making
the following points which I have to improve:

1. I will align everything to the goals and values of the company in order to make significant
contributions.

2. I will focus on being more responsive to make my influence on the team. I will delegate
influence. It will help me in taking responsibilities and creating an impact. I can do this by
bringing my opinion and ideas to the table and being responsive to other’s ideas as well.

3. For overall improvement of my team performance, I will communicate effectively, monitor


my contributions to the team on a regular basis and engage myself in practices that enhance my
knowledge and skills.

4. I will pay close attention to the activities of the team and pay attention to every small detail of
the work.

DECISION-MAKING
In any organization, effective decision making plays an important role. Many of the team
members believed in different approaches in decision-making. My decisions were based on
gathering input and hearing people. My decisions on problem-solving were based on innovative
methods. I have made decisions differently by avoiding the use of traditional practices and going
for the one which have high success rates.

In a team, it becomes easy to solve problems due to the presence of different people with
various complimentary skills. The decisions made by the team were based on a step-by-step
approach (Toplak and Weller, 2016). They analyzed issues from different angles along with their
future implications. The decisions were analyzed by every member from their perspectives. Their
opinions helped in solving the problems and structuring it with the evidence. My decisions were
different from that of the team due to lack in identifying the future implications, and alternatives
for the problem. In addition, my opinions were different from the other teammates which
resulted in a lack of coordination and understanding.

COURSE EXPERIENCE
Throughout the course, I learnt a variety of approaches and theories from the experience.
These theories helped me in performing tasks in an easy way and channel my energy in the right
direction. I applied the theories of leadership such as behavioral theory, contingency theory to
deal with various challenges during work. In addition, I learnt the Tuckman’s Teamwork Theory
that helps one to build a high performing team (Ferrell and Fraedrich, 2015).

I faced many difficulties while making a decision. This helped me in brainstorming and using
my in-depth knowledge to derive the best results. I learned the importance of working in a team,
listening to others effectively and their perspectives. The course helped me in learning the ways
to think and act in right direction and use my capabilities to deliver successful results for the
company.

In addition, the course helped me in enhancing my communication skills and building


coordination with my teammates. The studies helped me in working in a step-by-step process.
This helped in reduction of errors and helped me in completing the task on time.
