Scenario
You must create a Careers Portfolio which shows an understanding of the media (Television and Film)
industries. The portfolio must include the following:
Your research should provide some industry case studies, employers and understanding of types of
contracts of employment and employment legislation that could impact on your working life. You
should show awareness of legal and ethical codes of practice and issues and debates arising.
Evidence of research for a minimum of 3 vacancies for prospective employment and training in your
intended profession, from 3 recruitment sources including national press; trade press; internet; word
of mouth; personal contacts; internal promotion; networking; trade fairs.
A clear description of the job roles involved in these 3 posts: (management; creative; technical;
research; administrative) and the working patterns. (Shift work; fixed term; office hours; freelance;
irregular patterns; hourly rates; piece work) Try to ensure that the vacancies are in different areas
with different working patterns. Choose realistic vacancies that explore your own career development
from completion of your NDMP.
You must write up Curriculum Vitae (www.Linkedin.com ) and produce a short show reel and/or
portfolio of your work for distribution to prospective employers, clients or colleges. Plan, design and
complete this work using the templates and research previously covered in class and available from
recruitment sources including national press; trade press; internet; word of mouth; personal contacts;
internal promotion; networking; trade fairs These self-promotional materials should showcase your
skills, abilities, achievements and creativity. Include a plan for Career progression through UCAS or
HND Application or Degree to your Final Career Goal.
Ensure you have referenced all sources of information including guest speakers, workshops attended,
(Curriculum Project events), Industry visits and field trips in your Weebly. Your evidence should
reference other sources including employer websites, skillset, career services, and newspaper and
university and trade fairs.
Finally, Prepare a Show reel to demonstrate your CV in skills, abilities, achievements and creativity
titled
“My NWRC” TO BE SCREENED AS PART OF A Marketing CAMPAIGN FOR Media Training at NWRC.
