Plot summary:
Olivia “Liv” Moore was a rosy-cheeked, disciplined,
over-achieving medical resident, who had her life path completely mapped out until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie-feeding frenzy. Afterward, she became part zombie. She works at a coroner's office to give her access to the brains she must eat to survive. A side effect of her new diet is the ability to absorb the memories of the deceased, which helps her solve homicides. Analysis:
They did well with the filming of the shots, framing
them in a way that allows the viewer to understand what the characters are seeing and feeling. They also do well at bringing the audience into the show very quickly in my opinion with a short introduction into Liv as a person in the show from how she reacts in tough situations, and then we’re immediately thrown into the world of zombies just like Liv.
I also think they’re really good at building relationships,
proving the relationships are real, making the characters react in their own way to specific scenarios to differentiate them from one another, and making them show the emotions realistically. I think the actors did great in bringing their characters to life.
And although the series is quite serious, the whole
thing isn’t dull and extremely serious to the point of being boring and repetitive. They do throw jokes in all the time, sometimes they’re quite morbid but considering the fact that Liv and Ravi work in a morgue full of corpses, and the fact that Liv’s a zombie, some of the jokes are bound to be a little harsh. I think the narrative is brilliant and of course it wouldn’t worked if the actors didn’t perform well, but with Liv being the main attention with Rose’s acting skills, I think she brings Liv to life and makes her relatable and lovable with her dorky and kind personality to do well and help people in any way she possibly can. She helps feel the sadness, grief, anger, relief and happiness that Liv feels in those moments and that’s not an easy thing to do.
Conclusion:
In conclusion I think it’s a great watch whether you
want to get invested in the characters or you just want something to watch. Although if you do want to get invested, you’re stuck there as the story really does draw you into it and makes you want to watch more even though almost every episode is different. I think it’s worth a watch, especially if you’re into zombies.
