Chance final project evaluation

Introduction
This is an evaluation on my final project based on chance, throughout my final project I had
some things that where good and somethings that where not so good. I will be going into
detail why I think something worked well and be talking about what I could have done better
if I had another chance to do this again.

Context
When I was coming up with ideas for my final project I wasn’t really thinking about the
context of my project as at first, I didn’t know what context. When I found out about context, I
started finding things that relate to my idea but as I did, I realised that the context and my
idea aren’t sending the message that I want to send, the message I wanted to send was
asking people what kind of person do you want to be, someone who see someone happy
and then being happy themselves or just ignoring them. Somethings that I think went well
was the SWOT analysis I did for my final idea, it allowed me to figure out some of the thinks
that where good about idea and other things that I could improve on throughout the time.
Something that wasn’t so good was the lack of information I gave on all of the ideas that I
had, I would talk about the ideas that I had but I didn’t go into much detail about each one,
also I didn’t do any bibliography after my first idea as I didn’t have any reference points for
my other ideas as I didn’t have much time left. If I had more time or had a chance to redo
this again, I would spend more times on relating the context to my idea as it would help me. I
problem that I was faced with when coming up with ideas was not knowing where I wanted
to start with my project I had multiple starting ideas that I had but I didn’t know where I
wanted to take any of them, also the ideas that I had at first seemed to simple with the word
chance and I wanted to try and make something that would stand out.
Research
I did a lot of research for my final project which consisted with things like finding out the
different definitions of the word chance and ways to use it like synonyms for the word chance
and some things opposite to the word chance, mood boards that contains images that
related to my ideas that I had, looking at different production and post production techniques
that I can use in my video, and looking at other film clips so I find all sorts of techniques like
different kinds of shots I could use like a walking shot to track the protagonist walking
somewhere. Another bit of research that I did was listening to some music as at this point of
my project I decided that I would do a music video, so I had to find an appropriate sound
track to go with my video. Most of my research is doesn’t link up with my final idea is they
where for my older ideas that I scrapped but some of the old research was used in my final
project. One think that I think was good was using clips and scenes form different films to
compeer things like different camera angles and shots to use, how my characters and and
how the other characters react to them, and what my protagonist would be wearing to relate
to the mood of the scene. One thing this wasn’t so good was the lack of primary research, I
didn’t do a focus group or hand out a survey, because of this I was unable to get things like
audience feedback or find out what my target audience want and don’t want in a film or
music video. So, if I had a chance to do this again, I would get some primary research on
finding out who my target audience is and finding out what they expect in a music video

Practical Skills
Working on my practical skills I did a lot of pre-production, I made story boards of the
different shot I want to try and get which was good, however they were not in much detail as,
so they were hard to understand, for my final idea I was able to wright up a script to go with
it, the script contained what sort of location the protagonist is in, the actions the characters
will be taking in the scene and when the shot would fade out and fade back it. I also had
equipment booking form which not only contains what equipment I would be using but it also
 contained a call sheet for the people involved with the recording, listing of the locations
where I would record and a risk assessment to make sure everyone and everything is safe.
For the production part and post-production part of my final project I would get all the shots
that I planned to record bring them into pro production, as I would edit my clips together I
would then realise that I don’t have enough shots or need to reshoot some of my older shots,
so I would have to re plan my shots and re book all the equipment again which was a
problem as I was running shot on time. Focusing more on post-production work, very early
on I did a one minuet response to the word chance for this I did someone who was having a
bit of a bad day for multiple reasons and is really upset, as they walk somewhere they find
some money by chance on the ground, they pick it up and feel so much better about there
day, for my final project I did something along the lines about someone just living out there
day being in a good mode taking the chance to enjoy the lovely day, they are also wearing
headphones listening to some music and the audience can hear the song they are listening
to. Some other post-production thing that I did was some screen transitions when the
protagonist changes location so the flow of the music video is not interrupted, also I had
jump cuts in time with the beets of the song so the audience wouldn’t be left with long shots
of the protagonist walking. One thing that I think went well was the post-production that I did
near the end of the unit as at first, I had little to no editing techniques but later on I learnt
about some things I could do to improve my final project. One thing that was not so good
was my lack of effort when recording my shots, when I would record, I would only really get
one extra shot or just stick with the one I had, because of this this cased a lot of reshoots
which took up more time. So, if I was to do this again, I would make sure that I got about
three or for extra shot so I can pick and choose the shot I want.
Evaluation and Reflection
With my evaluation and refection, I did get feedback on my one minute response and I did
an evaluation on the feedback, I also did a pitch for one of my older ideas where I talked
about what my idea was and who its aimed at why I’m making it, Finaly I have done a
weakly blog on what I had done over the week and what will in the future. One thing I think
went well was the pitch I did; it may not be related to my final idea, but it helped me
understand that the idea I had then didn’t fit the message I wanted to send to the audience.
One think that was not so good was how detailed my blog was, it was so basic with like no
detail to it at all, I did improve a bat was the weeks went by but even then, they still had little
detail. If I could do this again, I would make sure my blog would be in more detail as it will tell
me what things I have already done in the past and tell me what I need to be doing next.

Conclusion
Over all I feel like I did ok with my project but I know I can do better if I puck my back into it
and really try, also I need to remember that its my final project, nobody can help me by
telling me what to do, so I need to be able to work for myself which I know I can do. In the
end if I was to do this again I would put in more effort over all so maybe I could of obtained a
merit.
