a magickal Planner
for creating a year
of witchery
JESS CARLSON
JESSCARLSON.COM
2018
Blessed be the words within
May no unwanted eye peep in.
As this year begins anew
I bless this book through and through.
Inside these pages I work my magick
To help me avoid a life that’s tragic,
Abundance, blessings, health, and wealth
I attract them all with witchy stealth.
By air and fire and water and earth
I bless this year with love and mirth.
So Mote It Be!
Are you ready for some witchery?
2018 is upon us and it is time to start planning some serious magick!
I’ve made magickal planners and datebooks before, but this time something about doing it felt
different. I actually wasn’t going to do it at all. I haven’t done a full one in at least four years and I
felt like it wasn’t needed. There are lots of magickal planners out there and I figured the world
didn’t need another one.
But then I saw conversations on Facebook about some of the planners out there for this year and
after looking at some of them I couldn’t help but cringe. Everything seemed very childish, for lack
of better phrasing. Some of those things I loved though! I’ve become a huge fan of Amy Cesari and
her coloring books like her Coloring Book of Shadows so I did pick up her Coloring Book of Shadows
Planner for a Magical 2018 for myself. But this is different from the “witchy planners” and feel good
annuals that are filled with fluff and artwork that looks like it was drawn by a four year old.
Sure those things are right for some people, but from what I was hearing it certainly wasn’t hitting
the mark or many others. So I felt a call to put something together. I asked around to see what
people would want in a true witchy planner. In the end I created something that is much more than
a planner. It’s more of a 2018 Book of Shadows for your magickal life.
I truly had to hold myself back from putting pretty much anything and everything in here! Its s part
planner and part Book of Shadows. I created it with the vision being that you would be mindful,
daily, about how you work magick and how you incorporate magick into your daily life. I also see it
as a place where you would be able to work magick, track your rituals, create plans, and journal
your magickal adventures for 2018.
Please consider this your personal Book of Shadows for 2018. Use it well, make big magick, and always
remember that true magick comes from within.
xoxo,
Jess
How To Use This Book
It seems a little silly to have to tell you how to use this book, but I feel like sharing some of my
thoughts on what you can do with it might help you feel like you have permission to anything you
want. At the end of the day, it’s your planner and journal to work with.
You can also print things as you go, printing things week to week There are also things in here, like
the spell and ritual templates, that you may want to print again and again as you need them.

Use the pen to draw a large heart in the center with a “heartbreak” line down the center. On one
side of the heart write your name and write the other person’s name on the other side. Place the
paper in the center of your altar.
Dress all three of your candles with your oil and place in their holders. Put the pink candle on top
of the paper in the center of the heart and a white candle on each side of the paper.
Light your incense and take a moment to reflect on the issues with this relationship and bring up
the feelings and emotions that you have, especially those that draw you to fix the connection.
Visualize a bright pink healing light casting down from the candle over the heart, mending the
connection between you two. Say:
Let the candles burn down. Take the paper and use the ribbon to tie it behind the picture of the
person. Place the picture with the paper in your altar and spend a moment each day sending love
and pink light to them to encourage the relationship to heal.

Make sure your jar is completely physically clean and dry before starting. Smudge your jar and lid
with sage.
On the paper write down and wishes or deep secret desires that you have right now. Set it aside.
One by one, take your herbs in your hand and “wake them up.” To do this, tap the herb with a finger
three times and then gently blow on it being careful not to blow it away. Then ask the spirit of the
herb to do a specific job or you. In this case we’ll ask Bay for success, Sage for protection, and
Vervain to grant our wishes. Say:
Once you’re done, place the herb in the jar. Repeat with the other two herbs.
Hold your penny in the hand you write with. While holding the penny, read your wishes out loud
with feeling and emotion. Feel what it would be like to have this desire fulfilled. How badly do you
want it? After reading this out loud say:
Place the paper and penny in the jar and put the lid on it. Light the blue candle on top of the lid if
possible or burn next to the jar if you need to. Allow the candle to burn completely.
Take the jar to a place where there is flowing water and toss it in where the water is flowing away
from you to carry your wishes. As you watch it flow away, allow your wishes to be released into the
Universe.

When picking out your item to represent your bad habit, using the actual thing if possible is ideal.
For instance if your bad habit is drinking, have a bottle of your drink of choice. If this isn’t possible
a photo is good or written representation will do in pinch.
Smudge yourself, your space, and your tools but not your habit representation.
On the black candle carve your name and a word to represent the habit. On the white candle carve
your name and the words “Free Of {the word you carved in the black candle}.” Dress both candles
with the lavender oil.
Place the thing to represent your bad habit in the center of the altar. Put the white candle on the
left of it and the black on the right.
Light your incense. As you take in the fragrance take a moment to think about all the reasons you
want to be free of. Why is this no good for you? How does this habit ma you feel?
I call on divine protection and guidance to light my path forward from of {the bad habit}.
Feel yourself being wrapped in golden white light. Take some time here to pause and connect with
your divine support team. Pay attention to any sounds, feelings, or visions that may come.
Burn the candles down completely. Once the candles are burned out, take the item outside to
somewhere away from your home and bury as a sacrifice and gesture of your willingness to release
this thing for good. As you walk away don’t look back and instead feel yourself walking into the
rest of your life free of this burden you’ve been carrying.

Smudge yourself and your tools. Visualize creative blocks being cleared from your energy field.
Dress the candles with the oil and place one on each side of the rose.
One the paper write down the thing you need help being creative with. If there isn’t a specific
creative project you’re working on you can simply write, “To live a more creative life.”
Hold the paper for a moment and fill it with energy, visualizing yourself being more creative and
easily accomplishing your goal. Fold the paper in half toward you and place it in front of the rose.
Place the citrine stone on top of the paper.
Visualize yourself being surrounded by yellow light. See this light specifically begin to open and
clear your crown chakra, third eye chakra, heart chakra, and sacral chakra. Feel this energy flowing
through you waking up all these places of creativity in the body and energy field that have been
closed off or stagnate.
In your mind’s eye clearly see your creativity manifesting in the physical world and any creative
projects being complet successful and easily, feeling fulfilled and proud of your work you’ve
done.
Take the rose to your work space where you create or leave on your altar. Keep the paper
somewhere sacred, like in your work space as well, on your altar, or tucked into your Book of
Shadows. Carry the stone with you.

Hold the candle in the incense smoke and allow it to o the candle to charge it.
Place your piece of money on the center of you altar and place the candle in its holder on top of
the money. Light your candle. Visualize candle casting a bright green light like a beacon that
attracts money like the money that it is sitting on toward it.
Take your cord and hold it in the smoke of the incense to charge it as well.
Make nine knots in the cord reciting a line from the spell below. As you tie each knot visualize
secure more and more money. After tying each knot use your finger to add a little of your own
saliva to the knot after saying the line from the spell. Tie your knots in the order shown:
1——3——5——7——9——8——6——4——2
Place the order on your altar around the candle holder, on top of the money, and let the candle
burn down.
Once the candle is burned out, take the money and roll it into a little cylinder and wrap the cord
around it to bind it closed. Take this bundle and place it in your purse or wallet, in your cash draw
if you have a business or with your bills, checkbook, money records, etc.

Begin by lighting your incense and allowing it to create a space of peace and self-love in your
space. The action of stopping someone from harassing you is a major act of self-love.
Carve the name of the person harassing you into the candle.
On the paper write: From now on {person’s name} will say nothing but sweet words about me and think
nothing but sweet thoughts about me.
Place the paper in the center of the plate and put some honey onto the center of the paper.
Firmly place the candle onto the honey spot on the candle. Use your fingers to spread honey onto
the top of the head {be careful to avoid the candle wick}, mouth, and heart of the candle. As you do
this talk to the candle as though you’re talking to the person and tell them how their words and
actions have been hurting you and tell them {not ask them} to see you in a sweeter way so they will
leave you alone. You aren’t trying to force them to like you but simply see you as not worth their
time and energy to bother harassing you.
Light the candle and let it burn down completely. As it burns visualize them changing how they act
toward you and how they treat you. See in your mind’s eye them either being nice to you or simply
ignoring you. Hear in your mind the nice things they are saying about you in place of anything
mean, rude or untruthful that they say now.
Wrap everything up, the paper and all the candle remains, in the paper and tie closed with the
twine. Keep this somewhere hidden away and forget about it as best you can.
Once you are satisfied that this person is no longer going to bother you, take the bundle and bury it
someone on your own property or somewhere close by.

Use the salt water on the cotton ball to wipe clean the top of the candle wax. Use the skewer to
poke 3 o into the wax. You want to go down an inch or so if possible. You’ll need to use a little
force but be careful not to break your stick if it is wooden.
Take each of your herbs and one by one hold them for a moment while visualizing being more
confident. Gently blow on each herb and say:
Pack a little of the herb into each hole in the candle and sprinkle any remaining herb on top. Once
you have done this with all the herbs add a few drops of oil into each hole and a few drops on top of
the candle wax. Take a moment to clear way any herbs that are in direct contact with the candle
wick.
Gaze at your tarot card for a moment and really take in the image. Feel the sun on your face, feel
the joy of confidence and success. If you are looking for confidence to increase in a specific area of
your life or for a specific purpose to achieve a specific goal, visualize this and feel what it is like to
do this with ease.
Use the string to carefully wrap secure the card to the front of the candle.
Sit with the candle continuing to visualize your confidence increasing. Allow the candle to burn
down completely. If you need to put the candle out rather than burn it continuously, use a candle
snuffer and relight it daily repeating the incantation and the visualization.

Hold your candle and send energy to it with the intention of attracting and radiating health.
On your piece of paper write your name in the center and all around it in a big circle write the
phrase “RADIANT HEALTH”. When the circle is complete draw rays from out from the circle as
though you’re creating the image of a shining sun.
Fold the paper toward you, turn it 90° and fold it toward you again. Turn it one more time and
fold it toward you one last time. Place the paper inside the bag along with the pieces of hair.
Take your herbs one by one and hold them up to your nose gently inhaling their fragrance. How
does their scent make you feel? Visualize that as you breathe in the scent of the herb it begins to
fill you with health, healing, strength, and vitality. When you are ready place the herb in the bag.
Hold the citrine for a moment and feel it begin to warm in your hand. Visualize it growing a bright
golden yellow and draw that energy in through your hands into your body. Notice where you see
or feel the energy go. The vibration will be drawn to certain parts of your body that may be in need
of healing. Be mindful of this for future healing work or meditations. When you feel ready, place
the stone inside the bag with everything else.
Pick up the bag and gently breathe into it. Tie it closed and hold it for a moment while you gaze on
the candle. Visualize yourself radiating and glowing like the sun with perfect health and strength.
See any physical, mental or emotional obstacles to your health being burned away.
Leave the bag with the candle as it burns down. Once the candle is out carry the bag with you or
keep on your altar. If you start to feel drained or like you're getting sick come back to the bag and
meditate with it.
If the bag itself starts to feel drained burn it with another yellow candle or add some Healing oil to
it to feed energy and intentions into it.

Make sure your jar and clean and dry inside and out. Smudge with the sage. Place on the center of
the altar.
Dress your candles with the oil and place them on the altar one on either side of the jar. Place
your acorns in a small pile in front of the jar on the altar. Sit and gaze on the candles, the jar, and
the pile of acorns and think about all the things that you have been blessed with so far this year.
Think of the people in your life, the opportunities you’ve had, and the lessons you’ve learned. You
might be inclined to think of only the good things, but we should also bless and be grateful for the
challenges and the disappointments.
When you’re ready, pick up one of the acorns and hold it between your hands up to your heart and
think of one of these things you’re grateful for. Feel this energy of gratitude projecting out from
your heart into the acorn. When you’re ready name the thing you’re grateful for out loud and
number it. For instance you may say:
Do this until you either run out of blessings or run out of acorns. If you run out of acorns first
consider yourself extra blessed!
Cap the jar with the lid and pick it up and double checking the count of acorns. Feel your gratitude
in your hands and shake the jar with a rattle. As you shake it say:
Leave this on your altar and let the candles burn down. Once the candles have burned out, keep
this jar on your altar or place it somewhere else sacred where you will see it every day. You can
add to it over time as you feel inclined. Anytime you are feeling like your blessings have run ou or
you hit a rough patch, pick it up, rattle the jar and say the blessing chant again.

This is intended to call up a specific spirit from the land of the dead, such as an answer. Have the
name of the person you wish to call in mind before you begin.
Sage yourself, your tools, and your space. Dress the candle with the oil and then place in the center
of the altar. I like to use the oil to draw a pentacle for protection on the back of the mirror as well.
Then anoint yourself with the oil on the third eye and crown chakras as well as the back of the next
as the base of the skull and on each wrist and palm.
Place the mirror flat on your altar in front of the candle so when the candle is lit it will glow over
the mirror. Think of this as a deep, dark pool of water that you’re going to look down into.
Light the candle and begin to find a comfortable position to gaze into the mirror. You want your
gaze to be soft. Look THOUGH the mirror rather than AT the mirror. Say:
Gaze on the mirror and patiently wait. This can take some time so don’t rush or get frustrated.
Allow the mirror to put you into a trance. You may see the person’s face appear in the mirror. They
may look how you remember them or they could look older or younger. You may not see them at
all and instead may hear them, sense them, or feel like you know what they are trying to tell you.
Once you feel you have made a connection you can begin to ask questions, share you thoughts,
feelings, needs, etc. You can do this out loud or in your mind, whatever feels right. As you ask
questions allow time for them to come. The communication can be a little slow between the
worlds, however it is the time when the veil is thinning so it may be easier than normal.
Keep in mind you may also continue to receive guidance after your session, particularly in your
dreams on this night. So be open to receiving however and whenever possible.
When you’re done say goodbye and thank you. Present the food or drink as an offering of thanks.
Blow out the candle and wrap up the mirror and put it away. Leave the food on your altar overnight
for the spirit to take its essence. Put it outside tomorrow for animals to physically consume.

Grind all the herbs together as finely as you can. This is where using a coffee grinder over a mortar
and pestle can be quite handy {I actually prefer the grinder, if you’ve never done it, try it}. When
you’re done, take about half of the herbs and spread them out on your plate or wax paper.
Use your olive oil to dress the candle. Roll the candle in the herbs firmly so some of the herbs will
stick to the candle. Place the candle in a holder and put it on the plate with any of the remaining
herbs left behind.
Take this to a central point in your home or a specific room or space where you feel that negative
energy may have built up. If you’re planning to host people for the holidays you may want to burn
the candle on the dinner table or in the main gathering space you plan to be with your guests.
Take the remaining herbs and sprinkle around the outside of your doors and around the home
where anything may feel “off” as a way to protect and rid the space of unwanted energy.
This is one you can redo as often as you need to until things feel right. If you want to be real extra
you CAN burn the herb blend however you will definitely want to do this with open windows
because it is not a pleasant smell, but that’s the point.

Cut the paper into small slips or squares that will fit in your cauldron.
Anoint your candle with the oil. Place the cauldron into center of the altar with the candle behind
it. Light the candle and the incense.
On the slips of paper things from the year that you may feel didn’t fully come to a point of closure.
These should be things that may not have had a solid ending but that you would like to just be free
of and no longer have to deal with in the new year.
As you write each one say out loud what it is and why you want to wrap it up and be done with it.
Be really sure you’re ready to but the cosmic end to these things. However they are right now is
how they will likely end.
After you state the thing out loud, light it from the flame of the candle and drop it into the
cauldron. Watch the flames consume your words and intentions and feel things simply fading
away. You can visualize these things or simply feel it in your body. Take time with each one to feel
or visualize things coming to a close.
Once you’re done with all your intentions, allow the candle to burn down. You can take a little
more time to meditate on things here or you can bring out a divination tool to do a reading for
yourself to see what you may need to do next to ensure these things are gone for good.
In the morning before dawn, return to your altar and grab your cauldron of ashes. Toss them
outside either dumping them on the ground and stomping into them into the earth or allow the
winds to carry them away if there is a breeze outside.

Magickal Tip of the Week
If you’ve ever wondered why certain spells or rituals don’t
seem to show any kind of results, it’s possible you're working
magick that is too broad or is trying to reach someone or
something that is too far out of your reach. We saw this with
all the people working spells against Donald Trump. There are
too many other people and issues that need to be address
before getting to him. When working your magick, no matter
what the goal, be sure to consider all possible people and
issues between you and your goal. You may need to work on
those things first before you can influence your real target.

Magickal Tip of the Week
And I’m going to possibly blow your mind here a little too, but we don’t want to just let go of
negative things like disappointments, frustrations, or losses. We also want to let go of things
we were successful with.
You know the phrase “resting on your laurels?” This means to basically take something you
were successful with and just kind of stall on your journey in life at that point. It’s something
we do often without realizing it, but it’s an Ego defense mechanism. It’s basically where the
Ego says, “Hey, you did real good with this! Why fuck it up by doing something new or
different?” It’s as if your Ego found something that really made it feel happy and good and it
doesn’t want to risk losing that feeling.
So rather than moving on to the next thing you stay stuck celebrating the same old success
over and over. Before you know it years have gone by where you’re still patting yourself on the
back for this one thing that most other people have long forgotten. {i.e. that guy who scored
the winning touchdown in a big football game in high school at he’s still talking about it when
he’s 40 and he hasn’t done anything important since}
In this section we’re going to go digging around to make sure we’re clear on all those things so
that we’re not bringing any baggage into the new year. We’re going to use this space to help
clear our energy so we can create a clean slate to call in new things during 2018.
What do I need to let go of from 2017?
What did I try to do this year that didn’t work out as planned? How can I make peace with
this?
What relationships have ended this year? Why? How can I let them go?
What beliefs or ideas did I have coming into 2017 that I don’t need or want to bring into 2018?
What unexpected things did I learn about myself in 2017?
What big changes happened in 2017 that I want to carry with me into 2018? How can I keep
them growing?
What magickal practices did I learn in 2017 that I want to use more in 2018?
In 2017 what Gods, Goddesses, and spirits did I meet that were helpful in my life?

The Phases of the Moon
When it comes to working with the moon we often hold to the general rule of thumb about
sending things away when the moon is waning and building and growing while the moon is
waxing; we tend to do any magick we need to do during the full moon and we focus on
planning and getting new things started at the new moon. But there is a little more to the
phases of the moon and a few points in the lunar cycle that are mostly overlooked that can
greatly add to our magical work.
Here are a few other basic rules to work with and then we’ll look at the specifics of eight moon
phases. Some of these phases are known by different names. I have written these to reflect
the names that I was originally taught and have worked with over the years.
The closer you work to the full moon without going past the moment the full moon peaks, the
strong the energy will be and the more quickly your work will manifest.
Remember that no matter what your intention or what moon phase you work with you need to
put in the mundane efforts to see your spells and magick produce results. The moon’s energy
can help to create a spiritual and energetic support system for your work but you still need to
do the legwork to create transformation in your life.
When the moon isn’t in the ideal phase that corresponds to your intentions you can try to
rework your magick to take advantage of the current moon phase. If you need to manifest
something but the moon is in the waning phase you could work instead to banish any blocks
that are in your way of achieving your goals. By working this magick now, as the moon waxes
later you will have created a positive and supportive foundation toward your manifesting
work.
There is a magical practice of working with the full moon over a three day period; this idea
basically says that the full moon energy is there to be used the day before, the day of, and the
day after the full moon. This is something that actually doesn’t work as well as it might sound
even though it is quite convenient. When the moon peaks full it moves almost immediately
into the waning gibbous phase, which, despite the fact that the moon may look full it is in fact
weakening. If you wish to work with the three day rule, using the two days before the full
moon and the day of the full moon itself will lend you more success in your magick.

Moon in Gemini - Communicating
During the Gemini moon we might find ourselves with a burst of extra energy,
ready to do whatever work we need to in order to create change in our lives.
This is a time for focusing on written communication, making it a great time for
writing letters and emails to friends and family we may have lost touch with,
sending them with a little bust of love and energy. The Gemini moon is a good
time to work in your Book of Shadows, creating new spells, rituals, and chants.
It’s a time to express yourself and network with those who can help you in your future
creative endeavors. This is the time to do any uncrossing work that needs to be done and an
ideal time to break jinxes and hexes. Magick worked now can be easily changed by outside
influences so be sure to shield your work.

Moon in Scorpio - Transforming
The Scorpio moon is a time for doing inner work including Shamanic journeying
and meditation. This is a time to connect with the deeper mysteries of the
earth and the Gods. Scorpio moons are also good times for setting boundaries
with others and standing your ground with people. Use this time to clear away
anything that is unwanted in your life, whether that involve energetic cord
cutting or just doing a big decluttering of your home. Now is the time to get rid
of anything that is considered “dead weight” in your life. Look within for answers and
guidance about how to best go about this kind of work right now.

Planetary Energy
We talked before about the days of the wee and saw that each day is ruled by a specific planet.
Better understanding the energy of those planets can help make the energy of that day, and
the magick it favors, may a little more sense. This can help you better understand the energy
of the days of the week as well as the energy behind moon phases when they fall under certain
planetary influences. You’ll find here the seven classical planets as well as Uranus, Neptune,
and Pluto. There is a little less info on correspondences for these three since most people
work magickally with the seven classical planets.
Sun
The Sun connects us to the powers of life and vitality. This energy is very powerful
and helps to burn away negativity, strengthen our resolve, and helps us to manifest
our dreams and desires. When we really want to add power to our work and let our
power and presence be known by others, the Sun is the energy to draw on.
Moon
The energy of the Moon puts us in touch with the power of the divine feminine and
the Goddess. The Moon increases our intuition and psychic power, helps us to
contact other realms, and helps us to work with our past lives. The Moon can also
help us see through illusions and see the truth in a situation, even when that’s a truth
we don’t want to see. The Moon’s power of the feminine also helps us to work with
healing around women’s health and fertility.
Intentions: Shamanic and Psychic Work, Motherhood, Family, Home, Fertility, Past Lives,
Intuition, Time and Space
Deities: Goddesses of motherhood and the Moon
Number: 2
Color: silver, white
Stones: moonstone, pearl, selenite
Mars
Mars carries the energy of the warrior. Mars is both protective and combative,
protecting us in the outer world and helping us manifest things that we desire in the
physical, especially if we have things that are standing in our way. The energy of
Mars is aggressive, active, and masculine. Mars will help you to manifest your will
and bring out the fire and feistiness in your spirit. If you’re feeling stuck and you need to give
a boost to your energy and will to get things done, Mars energy can be a great help.
Intentions: Courage, Enforcing Will, Getting past blockages or anything where you feel stuck,
Adventure, Action, Determination
Deities: Gods/Goddesses of protection, war, and the warrior
Number: 9
Color: red
Stones: garnet, ruby, pyrite, hematite
Mercury
Mercury is the energy of communication, wisdom, knowledge, and intellect. Mercury
also rules over travel in all forms, both in the physical world and in the astral. Work
with Mercury for guidance or protection in the areas of travel, making business or
personal deals, signing contracts, or any form of communication. Mercury is especially
helpful for students; use Mercury energy to help with memorization and passing tests.
Jupiter
Jupiter carries some powerful energy for expansion and influence, especially when it
comes to influencing other people. Jupiter energy can be used for growing your luck
and prosperity in every area of your life and for helping with influencing others who
can help with the increate and turn of your luck. This is the ideal energy to work with
when you want to influence your boss or work towards a raise. Jupiter connects us to
our highest levels of consciousness which allows us to expand our view and understanding of
situations while helping us to see things more clearly so we can make the best possible
choices.
Intentions: Good Luck, Money, Fortune, Optimism, Prosperity in all areas of life, Work with
purpose
Deities: Gods/Goddesses of the sky, storms, and teaching
Number: 3
Colors: turquoise, royal blue, purple
Stones: lapis lazuli, turquoise, chrysocolla, amethyst
Venus
Venus is the planet of love, family, relationships, and sexuality. Venus rules over all
areas of our life that add beauty and pleasure in an earthly sense. The power of Venus
allows us to attract these types of things to us and improve the power of our own
beauty. Venus is the ideal energy for any kind of love or sex magick and is also a great
companion for magick that involves the power of the ocean waters.
Saturn
Saturn is the planet of order, karma, and seeing what needs to be seen, even if we don’t
want to see it. When you want to work magick to reveal truth, Saturn is a great place
to start. Saturn also helps with protection, binding, shielding, and moving on to the
next level in just about any situation, especially if that means dealing with changes or
taking actions that might be difficult for us. Saturn will get you where you want to go
but you’ll get there only by dealing with the “warts and all” aspects of things.
Neptune
Neptune is the planet that takes the love of Venus and brings it to a higher level.
Neptune connects us to our highest, divine, unconditional love. It helps with
creativity and expression and helps all our art flow from a place of love. Neptune is a
powerful healing energy that can aid in healing from addiction and disenchantment.
It’s also a great energy source for dream magick.
Pluto
Pluto helps us with the destruction of anything that no longer serves our highest good.
It helps to make room in our lives for something new. Pluto works with our highest and
Divine will rather than our the desires of our ego.

In the shortest definition possible, a Moon Void of Course (VOC) is the period of time when
the moon is transitioning from one astrological sign to another. It is the time when it is not
ruled or influenced by any sign of the zodiac. This period of time can last for a few seconds,
which is quite rare, up to a full day, which happens a couple of times during the year. Most
often the moon is VOC for a few hours at a time. This is a time where magick and ritual should
be avoided and instead making plans for magickal work in a more mundane sense is favored.
The moon takes approximately 28 days to make its full cycle through the zodiac. It will spend
about 2 1/2 days in each sign where it goes through a variety of relationship with the planets
in each sign known as aspects. When the moon reaches its highest point in that sign it begins
to transition to the next sign. During this time the moon has no connection or relationship to
any sign. While it is moving into the next sign that period of time is considered a time of rest
for the moon. It is a time when the emotional cloak that the moon wears, which flavors both
our magick and our interactions with others is taken off and changed. You could say that
during that time the moon is somewhat “naked” and taking a break until it needs to put on the
next cloak.
We see about 13 VOC periods for the moon during a month. The planets all have their own
VOC periods as well as they travel through the zodiac as well. When the moon is VOC we may
find we feel out of step, fuzzy, and emotionally lackluster. Magick done during this time often
yields no results at all, seemingly nullified by the movements in the sky, or we may find that
our magick manifests in a way that is completely out of step with what we desired and instead
goes a bit haywire. It is best to avoid magick and ritual completely during a VOC period.
Use this chart to help you find the best times to work your magick, and when to avoid magickal
work. You will find in the chart the dates and times that the moon will begin its transition into
the next sign and when it ends the transition. You’ll also see the sign it is moving into. This can
also help you with planning your magick with the moon’s sign as well.
Please be aware that these times are in Eastern Time so you may need to adjust for your time
zone.
What’s In A Moon Name?
Throughout various cultures and agricultural societies the monthly full moons have had
specific names given to them. These typically were related to different things that people saw
going on in the world around th t the time. Many of the names that we know come from
Native American tribes.
The Algonquin tribe of Native Americans called the November full moon the Beaver Moon.
They gave it this name because this was the last chance they would have to trap beavers to
gather their fur to keep themselves warm during the winter. Another Native American moon
name we sometimes see is the Worm Moon. This is the March full moon which got its name
from being the first time that people would notice the birds returning after the winter and
gathering worms from the ground.
By giving the moons names that were connected to the natural habits of the earth, people
were able to track the months or points of the year easily. In other parts of the world we might
see other names used. For instance the March full moon is also known as the Seed Moon since
in parts of Europe this was the first opportunity people would have to start planting early
crops because the ground wouldn’t be frozen anymore.
In modern day magickal life we don’t live as close to the earth and we don’t tend to have a lot
of agricultural activities happening around us. Nonetheless we still use these moon names
since the underlying energy behind those names is still present. We may just give them a bit of
a modern twist. Today during the March Full Seed Moon we may focus on planting mental
seeds or seeds of intention rather than physical plant seeds. To make things even a bit more
confusing you’ll find some people would call the April full moon the Seed Moon because in
their area it might not be until April that the ground was able to accept seeds for planting.
When you’re working magick, setting intentions or working by the moon as part of your daily
magickal life, using the name of the moon can be a great way to remember the energy that is
most potent at that time.
On the following pages you’ll find information on the monthly full moon names that you can
use to plan your magickal work and magickal life. The names that I’m sharing here are the
names that I use for the moons, but know there are other names out there from different
traditions. In the grand tradition of “what’s in a name” you’ll find that no matter what name is
given to a specific full moon, the energy is the same for that month.
January - Wolf Moon
The wolves are hungry during this late winter month. Food is sparse and the
wolves could be heard howling in the woods and people in the surrounding
villages would be extra mindful to stay out of the woods when the wolves cried.
This is the season of death and isolation. Magickally we can use it as a time for
bringing on beginnings and endings. It’s also a time for working magick for
protection, healing, money, and strength.
How can I use the energy of the moon sign and ruling planet to achieve this?
What kind of magick can I do in the current moon phase to achieve this?
WITCH TIP: if the moon is in a waning phase and you need to attract something, consider what you
might be able to release, remove or banish i order to help you achieve your goal.

Color is a super powerful tool. When we use color we’re drawing on the vibration that the
color the carries. When we wear clothes of a specific color, chosen with intention because of
the color vibration, we surround ourselves in that energy. This blends the color energy with
our own energy and can have a powerful effect on us.

Working with the elements is a wonderful way to harness the energies of nature into your
magick. When you’re putting together a ritual or spell and you’re not completely sure where
to start, the elements can be a wonderful jumping point. Think about your intention and
desired outcome and pick the element that most corresponds to your desire. Create magick
around the element using its correspondences as a guide.

A Little Magick for 2018
In this section I thought I would share some of my spells and recipes from my many Books of
Shadows that I’ve filled over the course of 30 years of magickal practice.
I love writing spells, rituals, and meditations. It’s like building a puzzle; you have the vision of
the finished product and a lot of pieces to put together that could fit a bunch of different ways
if you wanted to force them to work, but if you take your time and really think things through
everything can come together seamlessly and easy.
I hope you enjoy this collection of random magick and that something in here helps you or
inspires you to create your own spells and rituals this year.

Create your New Year Sigil
One of the things that you found in the Reflection section of your planner was a space to
create a sigil for the new year. If you’ve never done a sigil before I wanted to share with you a
bit about the process I use to make one. Sigils are one of those magickal techniques that
everyone does a little differently, so what I do may be different from what you do or what you
have heard or read before, and that’s OK.
Sigils are amazing magical tools. A sigil is a whole sentence with purpose and intention
expressing your deepest desire which is turned into a symbolic image that when you look at
you can’t recognize words. Its like a secret code between your Higher Self and the Divine!
One thing I want to really stress about sigils is that you need to do this your way. This is one of
those kinds of magick where you'll find a lot of people are very adamant about how it's
supposed to be done. Some people will tell you that you can only make one copy of your sigil
and you need to destroy it when you're done. Other people will tell you that the more you
keep it around you, the better it works.
Experiment! Try ALL THE THINGS! You'll find one way that works for you, and that will be the
way to do it in the future.
You can use your sigil in a lot of different ways. You can carry it, burn it, use it with candles and
crystals and herbs or simply look at it and hold it, using it in meditation. This is powerful
portable magick!
To start creating your sigil, you’ll need some paper to scribble on, a blank page for your final
piece, a pencil, and a pen or marker. Start with a pencil and trace over it in ink. You’ll do your
sigil a few times before you really get it how you want.
You can phrase the statement however you’d like but keep it affirmative and strong. You can
also use phrases like “My Intent Is,” “It Is My Will,” or “I Will Into My Life” if you want
something formal. Keep in mind that the more words you use, the more letters you’ll need to
incorporate and the more complex your sigil will be. A simple “I Feel” statement might be best
if you’re just doing this for the first time.
I FEEL CREATIVE
Now you’re going to go through and remove all the vowels and all repeating letters from your
sentence.
I FExL CRxATxVx
Once I do this I like to rewrite the letters again to make sure I didn’t duplicate anything.
IFELCRATV
{Do As I Say, Not As I Do: For some reason when I drew this example I didn't remove the vowels. I
feel like there was a reason for that and for some reason they were meant to be in there, but you
would, traditionally, remove the vowels as well as the repeating letters.}
Once we do this, we start accomplishing our goal which is to make our conscious mind forget
what the phrase is. When we get down to these letters, your conscious mind no longer
recognizes the statement, but the statement is still in there.
Turn It Into A Picture
This part can get a little tricky and is the part
that needs practice. You’re going to use the
letters to create a piece of art. Each of the
letters needs to be represented. Start by
making a basic rough sketch and then you’ll
be able to go back and add to it and tweak it.
I like to do this with meditation. Hold your sigil in your hands or place it on a table and look at
it. REALLY look at it. You might even want to hold it up to your face really close so you really
take in the image.
Think of looking at a 3D poster, you want look at your sigil in a similar way. You're going to
stare intently but also relax your eyes as though you're looking through it. You will notice the
lines and the image of the sigil begins to glow as though they are going to jump off the page.
As you stare at the image and absorb its energy begin the process of Pranic Breathing.
Breathe in deeply into your belly with strong intent allowing your stomach to fully inflate.
Visualize pulling energy up from the earth through your root chakra up into your belly. As you
exhale, see that energy come up through your lungs and out with your breath, breathing this
energy it into your sigil. When you breathe out and send your energy into the sigil, it’s carrying
your intention, charged up and ready to go, right into your sigil.
Create your sigil on a piece of paper and then tear the edges around it until you have a little
extra paper as possible and you just have your sigil. Hold the sigil, staring at the image and
drawing up your intention, sending that into the sigil. Then light the sigil in candle flame and
place it in a bowl and watch the flames consume the paper. As the flames burn the sigil, it
releases the sigil energy into the Universe to do your work.
Once your sigil has been activated and released its time to forget and let go. If ever there was
a kind of “set it and forget it” type of magick, it’s this one! Know it’s out there in the world,
doing its thing, and let the Universe provide.
House Protection Jar
Create this simple jar to cast an energy of protection around your front door to protect your
home from harmful energy entering your space.
Wipe down your jar and lid, inside and out, with salt water to cleanse it. Allow it to dry
completely.
Once dry, add your herbs to the jar one by one. Do this by first holding your herb in your hands
and speaking over the herbs, so your breath casts energy over the herb. With each herb say:
Once all the herbs are all in the jar add the hematite. Your hematite should be cleared
beforehand. As long as your stone is appropriately cleared you don’t need to do anything with
the stone, just add it to the jar. It will work without any additional work.
When everything is in the jar, add the hair and then cap the jar.
Holding the jar, visualize everyone in the home having a happy, healthy, and safe year. Gently
shake the jar, being mindful of the stone side and say:
Place the jar hidden away near the main entrance of your home. At the full moon each month
take out the jar and under the light of the moon shake the jar again, repeating the chant, to
help revive the energy for another month.
Warm Heart Cold Nights
This spell is meant to be used within an existing relationship to heat things up doing this cold
winter month. This is the month of love and here we’re focusing on kicking up the existing
sexual energy between you. This is great for marriages that have hit a lull or relationship that
are starting to feel a bit predictable.
Use the salt water and a paper towel to wipe down the candle to clean it of any unwanted
physical or energetic “dirt.”
Use your carving tool to carve your name on one side of the candle nine times. On the other
side of the candle carve the name of your partner nine times. When you do this, you should
have a little bit of space on the “sides” of the candle between your name and your partner’s
name. In those areas around the candle carve a heart. When you look at your candle, you
should have nine bands going around the candle where you have your name, a heart, your
partner’s name, and another heart.
Set your candle aside and in a makeshift double boiler warm a few tablespoons of honey.
Warm the honey until it’s a bit thinner and easier to work with. It doesn’t have to be a pure
liquid consistency but more liquid-like than when it’s cooled.
Once warmed enough, remove the honey from the heat. Take your herbs and mix them
together in a small pile on the surface of your wax paper.
With one of your fingers, carefully rub honey on the candle starting at the top and going down
to the base in long strokes. Cover the candle completely but leave a little space around the
bottom so when you put it in your candle holder it doesn’t make too much of a mess.
Once covered in honey take your candle over to your herbs and holding the candle over the
wax paper carefully sprinkle the candle with the herbs so they stick to the honey. Carefully
press herbs into the honey if you need to so they stick.
You can also try to roll the candle in the herbs on the wax paper, but you may find this makes a
huge mess and you end up with more honey and herbs on the wax paper than the candle. Just
take your time.
Once all covered, take your candle and place it in a holder and bring it to your bedroom. Light
the candle and let it burn down through the first band of names. Once it burns through the
first set of names, use a candle snuffer to put the candle out for now. Burn the candle down
each day for the next eight days, burning down one of the sets of names. Allow it to burn out
naturally on the final day.
Each day while doing this be sure to take time to spend with your partner in a quiet, romantic
setting. You can cook them dinner or go out for a romantic night out, take a long walk together,
have some intimate talks, or just simple snuggle up together alone. Increase your efforts for
intimacy knowing that the candle work will help to spark more passion making these
encounters and all that will come later more loving, passionate, and enjoyable as time goes on.
Inspiration Spray
I love aromatherapy! Scent is one of those memory triggers for me so any time I can work with
essential oils, herbs, and incense for magick and healing with scent I’m all for it! This recipe is
for a spray intended to help bring inspiration.
Put 4-5 drops of each oil into the spray bottle {adjust for suit your scent preference while also
keeping in mind the size of the bottle…a bigger bottle needs a bit more oil}.
Every time you’re feeling tired, drained, uninspired, spritz a bit around you. I actually like to
spritz this right on my face {test the oils on your skin to make sure you’re not allergic to any of
these before doing this}. These oils are all awakening and inspiring, and together they are like
a big jolt for your energy! The quartz helps to keep the contents fresh.
Road Opener Spell
When we’re feeling stuck there’s nothing good old Road Opener work! Any time I’m feeling
like something is in my way or like I can’t seem to get past some point on my journey, I break
out Road Opener work. When you’re truly ready to see your path clear up, Road Opener
magick worked with intention can work fast!
For this spell I’m including three recipes of mine for Road Opener spell tools, an oil, an incense,
and a dusting powder. We’re going to be using all of them in the spell, so make these first.
Grind the herbs in a grinder to a powder. Mix in the cornstarch one tablespoon at a time. Add
a few drops of oil to the powder with each tablespoon of cornstarch and blend well until all
ingredients are well combined.
Use the knife to section the candle into seven equal parts.
Anoint the candle with Road Opener Oil, praying that all blocks and negative energy that are
holding you back be released.
On your parchment square write down the specific blocks that are holding you back from
reaching your goal. If you don’t know what specifically is holding you back, you can just say,
“All blocks and obstacles.” Fold the paper in half away from you.
Light your incense on your altar or workspace. Place the candle in the center of your space.
Place the cauldron behind the candle. Use the Road Opener Powder to draw two lines from
you to the candle on the altar, creating a mini road {ideally this should be wide enough to hold
your paper and your Citrine stone}.
In the center of the road, halfway between the start of the road and the candle, place your
parchment. At the beginning of the road place your stone.
Each day for the next six days burn down one section of the candle, reciting the incantation as
you light the candle, and moving your candle one step forward. Around the middle of the spell
you’ll reach your parchment; place the Citrine on top of the paper on that day, and then on the
next day you’ll move it past the parchment, signifying being past all your blocks and obstacles.
On the last day of your spell light the candle, say the incantation and move the Citrine to be
right in front of the candle. Pick up your parchment square and light in the flame of the candle
and as it burns toss it in the cauldron to burn up. Take the ashes outside and toss to the winds.
When the candle burns out take any leftover wax, the stone, some of the powder and a bit of
the incense and place in an orange spell bag or square of fabric. Tie up and carry to help you
keep the road opening energy going.
Wild Intuition Spell
A little magick to kick your intuition into high gear is always good. This spell is intended to
help wakeup your intuition and connect you to what I called your “wild intuition.” It’s the
intuitive voice we all have that doesn’t conform to anyone’s rules. It can be loud or quiet,
loving or rough around the edges, but no matter what it’s a voice of truth. This is a little spell
to help activate that voice.
Before doing your work, take your candle and gently wipe it down with some salt water to
cleanse it and let it air dry.
Take your candle and using your pencil or knife carve into the candle your name, your
astrological symbol and the image of an open eye looking out at your {this represents your
third eye being open}.
Place the candle in its holder. Place your hands about half an inch away from the sides of the
candle. Feel and visualize sending energy into the candle and say:
Sit here in meditation for as long as is comfortable. Breathe deeply and open yourself up to
receiving guidance and answers to any questions you have. If you have any specific
meditation, journeying or trance techniques that you enjoy use them here.
When you’re ready to wrap up, let the candle burn down. Once the candle has burned down
the crystal becomes a tool for capturing the essence of diving deeply into your intuition.
When you want to tap into your Third Eye, and your intuition hold the stone and ask your
questions. If you have a palm-sized stone you can gaze on it like a magick mirror and look for
answers that rise to the surface for you.
Sugar Candle for Love
This spell is designed to help you attract a new mate but we’re specifically leaving the door
open for it to be anyone who we could meet anywhere. This is important because if you
already knew who to find and where to find them you wouldn’t be single! So trust and do this
with positive intention.
Hold your candle for a few minutes and visualize yourself attracting the love that you desire.
Lay out some wax paper and using the sifter create a layer of sugar on the paper.
Add some pink glitter to it and mix it all up. Pour some of the oil into your hands and cover the
candle from tip to base in long, smooth strokes. This direction, from the wick down to the base
of the candle, invites attraction and drawing things to you. Make sure that you really cover it
well so that it’s bright and shiny and wet.
Once the candle is covered roll it in the sugar and glitter mix a few times so that it sticks to the
candle. When you’ve covered it as best as you can, put it in the holder. Before you light the
candle take a few minutes to breathe deep and draw up the feelings of love. What does it feel
like to receive love? What does it feel like to give love to someone you really love? How does it
feel to have that deep, spiritual connection with someone?
When you have that feeling strong in your body, focus that energy into the candle wick and
light the flame. Say:
My love burns bright
like a beacon in the night
attracting love right to my door
now, tomorrow and forevermore.
Let the candle burn down. Wear a dab or two of the oil you used on the candle when you’re
going to be out and about and possibly meeting someone. If you go on a date wear it too!
Remember to keep a positive attitude and then get out there and meet some new people!
Shake Your Money Maker
This spell is a fun little ritual to help train money to be attracted to you. It’s a manifesting
process that you can use anytime you’re feeling money isn’t quite making its way to you. The
one trick to this is that you have to be completely open to finding and receiving money in any
amount, not just large sums. Remember, even pennies add up over time!
Like anything really worthwhile, this ritual takes time to manifest, but you’ll notice that in time
it really starts to ripple out in your life, attracting money and prosperity from kinds of sources.
Wash your Mason jar with soap and water and then give it a quick rinse with salt water. The
soap and water will physically clean the jar while the salt water spiritually cleanses the energy
of the jar to make sure it holds no energy or intentions other than your own.
Do the same with your pennies…wash with soap and water and then cleanse with salt water.
Bay laurel is an herb of success, victory and manifesting. We’re going to write an affirmation
on the leaf with our name and then tape it to the top inside of the jar lid so this is always
sitting over the money in the jar helping to attract more of it.
Take your dried bay leaf and lay it flat lengthwise. At the top of the leaf write your name.
Below your name write:
Money flows,
My prosperity grows.
Let the ink dry and then tape it inside the jar lid with the affirmation facing out.
Hold your pennies in your cupped hands. Visualize them radiating a green or gold energy
representing wealth and prosperity. When your visualization becomes strong and you can
really see and feel it, begin to shake the pennies in your hands and repeat the affirmation nine
times.
Money flows,
My prosperity grows.
Don’t focus on how the money comes. This isn’t up to you to decide, the Universe will handle
this. Let go of any need to control this part of the work and simply visualize and feel what it’s
like to have the money you desire.
When you’re done put the pennies in the jar. Sprinkle the cinnamon and basil over the
pennies. Close up the jar.
Give the jar a little shake so the pennies jingle. Do this while again visualizing and feeling what
its like to manifest the money you desire. As you do say:
And so it is!
Place the jar somewhere sacred where you’ll see it every day.
From here on out any time you go out, take a walk, go to work, go shopping, whatever it may
be, keep an eye out for money. You may find change on the ground from out of nowhere.
Always pick it up and give a blessing of gratitude to the Universe. When you come home add it
to the jar, repeating the affirmation and shaking your jar with the new change added. You can
also add your change from your day and even throw in paper money as you feel called to.
This is the process of showing the Universe that you hold money as sacred, value it and wish to
grow your prosperity. You will start to see money grow in other ways. You may get a raise,
receive a sudden influx of cash or receive a significant and unexpected discount on something
like rent or a purchase {yes, discounts and credits count as money earned and prosperity
growing}.
When you jar eventually becomes full put the money in the bank or spend it and start over
with nine new pennies. The money in the jar becomes merely a bonus over time. The real
work this does will come much sooner and in many different ways. This is like attracting like
with money attracting money.
Want to kick this up a notch?
Burn a green or gold beeswax candle on top of the jar every Thursday, the day of the week
associated with prosperity and abundance.
Surround your jar with crystals and stones for prosperity that have been returned. You could
work with stones like malachite, jade, green aventurine, carnelian, citrine, and pyrite.
When you have something particular that you need money for, like a vacation, you can write a
little petition to the Divine asking for a specific amount of money by a specific date for your
particular need and add it to your jar.
Friendship Harmony Ritual
The summertime, especially during the June Honey Moon, it’s a great time to do magick and
set intentions to instill more harmony in a relationship that is really important to you.
This can be a new friendship that you’re just starting to cultivate or it can be one that you’ve
had for a while where you may have lost touch or there’s been some kind of strain and you’d
like to get things back on track.
For this magick, you’ll want to begin by getting really clear on the intention you have for this
friendship. What needs fixing? What isn’t feeling right? What do you want to see for you and
this person in the future? Be sure to have a clear focus in your mind before going forward.
Place your herbs in a single layer on your plate and set it aside.
Begin by cleansing your candle with salt water. Once cleansed hold your candle between your
hands up to your heart center and visualize you and your friend together, happy,
communicating well, and all blocks or issues melting away. When you have a strong image and
feeling of this connection in your mind and heart visualize yourself “pushing” this energy out
through your heart into your candle.
When the candle feels charged, use the carving tool to inscribe your friend’s name on one side
and on the other side draw a peace sign, a heart, and an equal-armed cross. These represent
peace, love, and balance in your friendship.
Dress the candle with olive oil in long downward motions going from the wick to the base of
the candle. While you’re doing this, you can recite your affirmation to add energy to your
work. The candle should be covered with a slick layer of oil when you’re done.
Carefully roll the candle in the herbs on your plate. Roll the candle firmly in the herbs a few
times to help them stick with the oil to the candle. Once it is well covered carefully hold the
candle at the wick and gently spin it to shake off any loose herbs that aren’t well attached.
Take any remaining herbs from your plate and use them to sprinkle a clockwise ring around
the base of the candle holder over the picture.
Before you light your candle take a little time to go back to the image you had of you and your
friend when you were charging your candle. Place your hands, one on either side, about an
inch away from the candle.
As you recall this image and draw up this energy and feeling again, visualize it flow from your
hands into the candle. While you do this recite your affirmation in a little chant. As you do this
and build up the energy, you’ll start to feel it gathering between your hands and the candle.
When you feel the energy has built up around the candle, light the candle and say your
affirmation one last time with heart and conviction.
Take all the remains {any wax, the picture, herbs} and place them in your bag and keep it on
your altar or somewhere else safe and sacred.
Now it’s time for you to take some real world, physical action. Send a text, an email, make a
call…ask your friend out for coffee or dinner. Remember that magick works when you do.
Finding Lost Objects
Who doesn’t lose some stuff from time to time and who wouldn’t love to just do some magick
to make it appear again! It’s important to know that there are two different approaches to
finding lost objects with magick. You can do work to reveal where the object is or you can do
magick to attract it back to you. I mention this for one huge reason; CLEAR INTENTIONS!
Not everyone is clear on what they want or how they want to reconnect with their lost
objects. They know that something is lost and they want to find it. Knowing how you want to
find your lost objects can help create a more clear path for it to return to you.
I like candle magick for lost objects because candles lit with intention are like giant beacons
into the Universe. For this spell, we’re going to focus on attracting the object back directly.
When I want to find where the object is I’ll do divination for that, but if I just want the object
to come back, I work with that specific intention. So we’ll use this magick to attract the item
back.
Place your candle in the holder and place the holder on top of the representation of the lost
item. Light your candle.
Use the magnetic sand to draw a complete circle with no gaps so that it encompasses
everything. Once you’ve gone all the way around come back to the point on the circle where
the lodestone is and use the magnetic sand to draw a line from the circle to you on the altar or
work surface.
{NOTE: Consider the “at all costs” wording…if that doesn’t feel right to you, by all means, play
around with this and create something that does.}
Let the candle burn down completely. It’s really best to let this one burn completely, so plan to
do this when you can leave it to do its thing.
While it burns, visualize this enclosed circle like an energy trap to draw the object back to you.
Visualize a silver thread between you and the object out there in the world and see yourself
reeling it in, gathering the thread and pulling the object closer. Visualize the object appearing
in your circle trap and feel it back in your possession.
Obviously, the thing isn’t going to appear in your circle, but this is all about the energy. You’re
attracting it back and creating a space of magnetic attraction to its vibration.
If after a week you haven’t had any movement, do some divination on the object and try again.
If you don’t have the object appear after a week, but you get a feeling like it’s getting closer,
just give it a little more time. Magick isn’t instantaneous. If after three weeks you have
nothing, you can try some divination and do your spell again.
Full Moon Spell To Revive Your Practice
This full moon spell can be done at any moon and is designed to be somewhat like a
rededication. It's perfect if you’ve been out of your practice for a while and want to have a
fresh start.
Hold your candle while visualizing yourself being at the height of your magickal energy. Think
of a time when you were feeling particularly strong magickally. Now imagine being even
stronger than that. Push that energy through your arms, out of your palms and into the candle.
Take a few drops of your oil and anoint the candle from the wick to the base in long strokes.
This is the anointing motion for attracting something to you.
Put the candle in a holder and take a few deep breaths. If you’re outside, clear a spot on the
earth and put the candle IN the earth and light it. Let the earth be your candle holder!
Again see yourself radiating magick. Reach your arms out to the moon, reaching out to draw
down and receive the light and energy of the moon and say:
God/Goddess/Universe
{use whatever name resonates with you}
I ask for you to be with me.
Riding down on moonbeams
Through the darkness of night,
Come to bless me to
Relight my magickal fire.
See beams of sliver light from the moon and from any spiritual entity you’re working with,
flowing into your hands. You may feel your palms tingle or begin to feel warm.
When you start to feel a buzzing in your hands and arms bring your hands to your the area of
your Root Chakra, seeing and feeling this energy flow into you and say:
May I be rooted in the earth and my magick for protection.
Bring your hands just below your navel to your Sacral Chakra and say :
May I know the power of creating the life I deserve by my own magick.
Bring your hands just above your naval to your Solar Plexus and say:
May I cast my magick with confidence and strength, always standing in my power.
Take a few deep breaths feeling the power of the moon and your chakras spinning, recharging
your magickal batteries.
Sit with your candle and continue to draw on this moon energy seeing it come into all of your
chakras filling you with energy. Stay here as long as you can, meditating and feeling yourself
reawakening. You can gaze on the flame of the candle with soft eyes looking for messages and
signs in the dancing flame.
Let the candle burn down completely and then head to bed. You will likely have vivid dreams
filled with magickal messages and insights.
Psychic Herb Jar
This is a simple magickal device designed to draw on the spirits and energies of specific plants
that have psychic properties. It may seem almost too easy, but this is one of the things that
makes it so powerful.
Place everything in the jar and give it a good shake. You can add psychic crystals to the jar as
well. Stones like amethyst, lapis lazuli, phantom quartz, and moonstone are good choices. Just
be careful that you aren’t choosing any stones that are very delicate otherwise they may break
in the jar.
Every time you’re preparing for doing any kind of psychic work, give the jar a shake and then
open it up and inhale the scent. Allow the scent and the energy of the herbs to awaken your
psychic senses.
Incense, Oil, and Powder Recipes
Here are a few of my all time favorite recipes for oils, incenses, and powders that I use. Some
of these are recipes for popular items from my Etsy shop I ran around 2011.
Use for spells to remove hexes and feelings Shut Your Mouth Powder
of being cursed or jinxed. Blend together
• 1 cup corn starch
• 1 Tbsp Ground Red Pepper
Witches Sight Oil • 1 Tbsp Clove
Blend the following oils and herbs in a base • 1 Tbsp Rue
of sweet almond oil
6 drops Juniper Dust areas that would be touched by
6 drops Patchouli someone that is running their mouth and
6 drops Sandalwood needs to be stopped.
6 drops Cinnamon
4 drops Musk
4 drops Ambergris
3 Frankincense Tears
In a nutshell, crystals work because their energy fields entrain our energy fields to vibrate at a
specific rate. They cause the lower vibration we carry to rise up to meet their higher vibration. This
causes changes in our bodies and minds and helps us to manifest what we desire. Because of this,
the best way to cleanse a crystal is work on its energy field so that you can bring it back to its most
high and ideal vibratory rate.
To clear your stones with vibrational energy ring a bell or singing bowl for a minute or two over
your crystals before you’re going to use them. You can even place them on top or in front of a
speaker playing loud music to them {one song is all you need}. This basically shocks the vibration
of the stone so when the sound ends the stone’s vibration settles back to its dominate oscillatory
rate, and it’s ready to rock. {pun intended!}
Using a crystal prescription is easy. This is a grouping of stones chosen because of their ability to
work together to achieve a specific energy vibration. They can be carried in a bag, used to create a
crystal grid, or placed together somewhere in your home or office. You can use the individual
stones too, but to really get the full impact of the crystal prescription, you should use them stones
together.
Since the stones work off vibration this is one of those cases where size actually does matter! The
bigger the stone, the larger the energy field and the more influence it will have. If you’re carrying
the crystals on you, small tumbled stones work fine, but if you want them to have an effect on a
room in your home, you’ll want to use larger stones. When using a crystal to change the energy of a
room aim to use the largest stone you can afford of the type you need.
The number of stones you use in your crystal prescription is up to you. I like to use between 5 and
7 but 3 work as well. I have a few complicated ways of working with these prescriptions, but I'm
going to give you some easy three stone options here. Expand these as you feel called.
Witch Tip: If you're going to carry these in a bag, use a bag made of cloth that has a corresponding
color or pattern that matches your intention.

22 Simple Tarot Spells
Simple tarot spells using the 22 major arcana cards can be a great way to cast a little beacon of
light and energy into the Universe to attract whatever it is you need into your life. The process
here is the simple one I use for creating simple tarot spells using three things: a tarot card, a
candle, and crystals {4 of the same stone}.
Once you have your items cleared, take a moment to hold each one to your heart for a moment
visualizing your goals and intention. Project that energy out into each of your tools, sending that
energy from your hands and your heart center. You can do this by visualizing a colored light you
see in your mind's eye or as a vibration you feel in your body. Feel this energy filling up your card,
candle, or crystal with your desires.
Set up.
For this spell, you want to start by putting the card in the center of your workspace. Place the
candle in a holder and put it on top of the card. Then place the crystals around the candle on top of
the card, one at each of the four corners.
Start your work.
To start your work, create an affirmation or statement of intent. You’ll use this when you light your
candle, as well as any other time you need to relight the candle is you have to snuff it out, as well as
when you want to draw on the energy of your spell. You can work on this beforehand or let
whatever comes to you at the moment flow freely.
State your affirmation or intention, light your candle, and away you go! Spend time there gazing at
the candle flame and visualizing the outcome you desire. You can chant your affirmation or work
with meditation. Do something that has you focusing on the feeling of having manifested your goal
and feeling what it would be like to have this thing in your life.
What to do next.
Let your candle burn down and keep your thoughts positive. When the idea of your goal comes
back to your mind remember that every thought is energy that you are sending to your magick.
When the candle burns down, keep the card and crystals on your altar but clear away the candle.
Leave the rest on your altar until you manifest your goal.
When you are ready to clear things away, you can put the card back into your deck, and the
crystals can be carried, placed somewhere appropriate, or cleared and reused for something else.
{Personally I like to hang on to it as a reminder of my work until it has fully manifested.}
A few tips...
Because working magic with your cards is a little different from doing readings with them, I like to
have a separate deck just for doing magical work. For me, the traditional Rider-Waite deck is my
go-to for spellwork. I like to draw on the traditional magickal symbolism of the tarot.
I think it’s a good idea to spend some time with your spell set up to do visualization after you've
done the initial spellwork. This is what drives your magick because you're sending more energy
and intention to your desire. Your magick is a combination of your energy, the archetypal energy
of the card, and the energies of the color vibration of the candle and crystal. You have to put in
your time and energy as well; it's a group effort.
You can add other items like oils and incense to your spells as well, but they are optional. You can
use a corresponding oil to anoint the candle and burn some similar incense alongside your other
items. The oil just enhances the candle work and the incense helps to carry your prayers, chants,
and affirmations to the heavens. Anytime you need to revive your work you can burn the incense
over the card and crystals while meditating on your intention.

About Me
Hi! I’m Jess…
I’m a Witch, intuitive tarot and oracle reader, and magickal teacher. I hate seeing people
struggle to make their life fit into a spiritual practice when what they really need is a spiritual
practice that fits their life as it is.
Magick, meditation, journaling, ritual, spells, reflection…it is all possible no matter what your
job is like, whether you have kids or not or even if you love going to the club three nights a
week. Your practice is your practice. Make it your own because the magick is all around you!
Through blogging, social media, and private intuitive sessions I help women figure out what
they need spiritually, discover how to activate their inner Witch, and help them learn to set
their intentions and cast real magick in the world.
