Week 1 Feb. 4th to Feb.

8th
Describe a way you were able to participate in the classroom this week. This could be lessons
taught, working with individual students or small groups.

 This week I helped out by staying in the classroom during recess to help make dog toys.
Geist Elementary holds a market for the parents to come to and each class makes
something different for the market to sell.
One idea you want to take to your own classroom someday

 I would like to reward students with good behavior by throwing parties so that the class
can work together.
Tell me about a way you made a positive impact this week!

 One of the students in my class struggles more than the others. When the kids were
taking a timed math test, I could tell the student was struggling. I helped him remember
how to do the math problems and he soon got the hang of it. He gave me a big thank
you when he was done.
What type of learning took place in your classroom this week---give specific examples—this can
include different types of activities—cooperative learning etc

 Some of the room moms came because Geist did a day on learning about the visually
impaired. We did many activities such as looking at brail, listening to sounds, and the
students also guided each other around the classroom while being blind folded.
Week 2 Feb. 11th to Feb. 15th
Describe a way you were able to participate in the classroom this week. This could be lessons
taught, working with individual students or small groups.

 I read a lot with the students in groups and individuals. They also took a timed math test
and they all get so excited to try and beat their scores from last time. It feels good
watching them get excited to learn more and achieve more.
Describe a situation that was difficult to deal with and how you or your teacher handled it

 When we were in the library, the students kept interrupting me from helping other
students. I wasn’t sure what to do because I told them so many times to wait for when
I’m done, but they wouldn’t listen. Mrs. Cameron came over to help me so that we
could get everyone the help they needed.
Tell me about a disruption in schedule/routine and how that affected the students and their
learning.
 Sometimes recess affects the students learning because we will be in the middle of a
lesson then have to go outside. Then when we come back inside the students are crazy
and energized and it is hard to get them calmed down to finish.
Tell me about a way you made a positive impact this week!

 One of the days at recess, a girl student in my cadet class was playing alone. I found
some of the other girls who were playing together and politely asked them if they would
ask the girl who was alone to play with them. The group of girls were all for it and the
girl was really happy too.
Week 3 Feb. 18th to Feb. 22nd
Describe a way you were able to participate in the classroom this week. This could be lessons
taught, working with individual students or small groups

 I was able to work with the students and walk around the class to help them with
assignments. I usually take a group of students in the hall to read with them.
Describe a situation that was difficult to deal with and how you or your teacher handled it

 One day I saw a girl throwing up in the hallway who was alone. I told her to stay right
there where she was while I go and get her teacher to help. I gave her a wet paper towel
and told her to clean up in the bathroom while her teacher called the nurse.
Describe your favorite part of the week with your students

 My favorite part is getting to go to the library and listening to them all read to me. They
make so many connections and it is adorable listening to what all they have to say.
Describe a routine established in your classroom and how it helps the classroom function

 After the class comes back from specials, they have snack time. They know to come into
the class quietly and sit at their desks with their heads down, or else the teacher will not
give them their snack until they do.
Week 4 Feb. 25th to Feb. 28th
Describe a way you were able to participate in the classroom this week. This could be lessons
taught, working with individual students or small groups

 We have a very basic routine when I am at the school, so it is very repetitive. I am

always walking around helping out when they need it. They always raise their hands for
me to come assist them while Mrs. Cameron is teaching.
What type of learning took place in your classroom this week---give specific examples—this can
include different types of activities—cooperative learning etc.
 The students did an adjective fasion show this week. The all dressed and wrote
paragraphs about their outfits. Mrs. Cameron read aloud their paragraphs as they
walked down a red carpet. Everyone cheered for each other and it was a fun time.
Tell me about a student that surprised you this week

 One of the students has very aggressive behavioral issues. This week I saw them getting
in another students face and he acted like he was going to hit him. As soon as I saw it, I
told Mrs. Cameron and she had a long talk with him and he also got his recess taken
away.
Tell me about behavior issues occurring in you classroom

 This goes along with my last question, but this is the class as a whole. When the class is
quiet, they receive music notes, but when they’re loud, they get a music note taken
away. This week they lost so many music notes that Mrs. Cameron couldn’t take
anymore away because they had lost them all.
