PAPER NO. 1
( Unit 1 – Lessons 1,2,3,4 )

I. INTRODUCTION:

Some people may think that teaching is just a job but they never know the responsibility

and the reality behind being a teacher. It is a calling – a noble calling.

Teaching is a challenging but very rewarding profession. They are the one who have an

essential part in helping children and young people to acquire and develop the knowledge and

skills they will need in life. Teaching life also comes with even more emotions. Teachers become

very emotionally invested in student and in their well-being.

II. LEARNING AND INSIGHTS

Being a teacher is the hardest, but the most enjoyable and best job you can imagine. A

teacher or an educator is a person who helps others to acquire knowledge, competences or

values. A teacher’s professional duties may extend beyond formal teaching. Teachers also

employ practices that develop positive self-concept in students. Though the work of teachers

typically takes place in a classroom setting, but the direct interaction between teacher and student

is the most important element in teaching.

There are some noble ideas of teaching that includes: Teaching as a profession, as a

Science, as a ministry and as a vocation. First, Teaching as a profession means that a teacher has

professional knowledge and skills gained through formal preparation and experience. Teachers

provide personal, caring services to students and using methods of learning in for the better

understanding of the students. Next, Teaching as a Science means that there are strategies and
practices that the teacher uses in enhancing learning. Teachers’ also collecting data by observing

their students in order to see if learning is taking place and how they learn. Then, Teaching as a

ministry is that every day of our lives, the teachers have the opportunity to minister to the

children by what and how they teach and who they are as representatives of Jesus. That’s why,

here in CPU, we have a RE subject that reminds us that God is the reason and center of

everything. And lastly, Teaching as a vocation means a mission. Mission because the task is

entrusted to you in this world. There are teachers that opted to stay single for the rest of their life

because they love teaching. They love their work more than anything else. They focus their lives

in teaching students. Also, Teaching is a profession that calls to the heart of an individual.

In this unit, we also learned about the attributes of effective teachers. Students are most

affected by the quality of their teachers. Teachers need to be able to build trusting relationships

with students for a productive learning environment. Teachers must be patient, caring and kind

personality in every student differences. I learned also in this lesson that dedication to teaching

and passion for the work is very important in student’s success. Teacher always willing to help

and give time. Personal attributes of effective teachers help develop strong bonds with students,

and use them to help students learn.

III. CONCLUDING STATEMENTS

Teaching is the one profession that creates all other professions. It has many challenges

but also provides many rewards. Teachers are the one who guides child’s journey to developing

essentials skills and knowledge to become a better individual of a society and in the worlds

someday. Teachers deserve the love and respect from their pupils or students or even in other

people. Teaching is more than talking, and learning is more than listening.
Teachers are the one who guide us, to use our precious resources in thoughtful, intelligent

ways in order for us to become a better individual in the future. They change the world because

they change lives. Sometimes one life at a time, one day at a time. Teachers are sacrifice may

things for the benefits of their students. When their students failed, they invest their time to help

them succeed because they are able to take hopeless situations and turn them into amazing

opportunities. To be a great teacher, you have too many superpowers. The best teachers are

counselors, advocates, cheerleaders, and sometimes a second mother to their students. Indeed,

Teachers are heroes.
