My Five Year Plan

Where do I see myself in 5 years? That’s something I’ve thought about more than the

average kid for sure. My long term goals are getting out of Merced, becoming a united states

marine, having my own house and car and providing a stable life for my baby that is on the way.

Short term goals, getting a job, and a license, a car, and moving out.

I’ve known for a long time exactly what I’ve wanted I just didn’t know how to get there

at first, the older and older I get the more of a plan I have and the more prepared I become.

Graduating was and is one of my short term goals as well, next to getting a job, then my license.

When I turn 18 I know I am moving out. However wanting these things requires money,

transportation, many hours of practice and whether most of us like to admit it or not we need

help.

Originally I planned on depending on the Marine Corps to teach me everything, then I

found out I was having a baby and my plans changed. Catering now to my babies future I

realized I would have to grow up on my own and the Marine Corps now became a long term

goal. What I and the father of my child are going to do is live together while he works I will take

care of my baby, when I'm ready to start training I will and ship off to boot camp when I’m

ready. We will get married which also gives us a lot more benefits and higher pay and when I

find out where I’m permanently stationed I will move my family with me with BHA from the

military. It stands for Basic Housing Allowance, which will make sure my family is fed and my

rent is paid. Then the father of my child will go to an academy to become a firefighter so we will

be bringing in two incomes so hopefully, by then I will own my car and we will be able to move

into a house we own. I know this will take years and a lot of struggle in between, but I see

myself with a career, as a mother and a wife. A goal of 5 years and being this young I would

understand your doubt but my ambition and commitment tell me otherwise. Imm not afraid to

work hard. If I do go to college it would most likely be to become a personal trainer or would go

to an academy to become a firefighter or correctional officer. I want to serve my country no

matter what I'm doing and have a more active career. I definitely don’t want to do what most

people do.
