U.S. PEANUT CROP UPDATE – From National Agricultural Statistics Service as of May 19, 2019. USA Peanut Crop is
estimated planted at 63% this week, 40% last week, 60% last year and 55% 5-Year average.

GEORGIA Conditions this week turned hot and dry. Peanuts are up with good looking stands. Dry-land
peanuts not planted may be in trouble because no rain is in the forecast and we are due to hit
hotter temperatures this week, which will wipe out moisture in the germination zone.

Cotton and peanut planters running wide open in the Wiregrass area. Air and soil temperatures
were inching up and causing farmers to irrigate corn. All crops will need rain before long.

Peanut planting continued this week under dry conditions. Growers expressed a concern that lack
of moisture may halt planting activities soon. Snails were causing damage in Okaloosa County.

Planting season has been a challenge with excessive rainfall and cool temperatures. Finally, a
good solid week of dry weather. Dry weather is forecast this week.

CAROLINA Cool snap has nighttime temps in the mid-30’s, even some frost reports. Late in the week,
unseasonably warm with temps in the mid-80’s. Field conditions are getting dry.

CAROLINA Peanut planting continued at a rapid clip in anticipation of hot and dry conditions this coming
week. Farmers are nervous about crop emergence if hot and dry for the next 10 days.

VIRGINIA Precipitation amounts were down from the previous week; good weather conditions have allowed
farmers to catch up on planting crops.

OKLAHOMA Peanuts planted reached 18 percent, down 39 points from the previous year and down 46 points
from normal. There were no areas of the state that were experiencing any level of drought
intensity.

TEXAS
Planting of peanuts was underway in South Texas. The weather during the past week was mostly
dryer across the state than the week prior.
