1) COMMON PROBLEMS USING ONLINE REGISTRATION

Information technology system also sometime brings the difficulties and problem to the users
(Aziz, 2006). Aziz also stated that the reason of failure is because unrealistic schedules,
insufficient or poorly managed funding, poor design, unskilled staff, or poor management.
There are many reasons for students are unableto be unable to enrol in a class. Some of the
most common reasons are the enrolment maximum has been met, the course requires special
permission from the instructor, the course requires prerequisites or minimum test scores
(Minnesota State University, 2018). For an example, Minnesota State University students are
facing other common problem such as trying to register that conflicts with another course on
schedule and students cannot enrol in more credits. The other common problem is students
are under academic probation or suspension. This is due to poor grades and poor academic
progress (Anonymous, 2012).
2) EFFECTS OF ONLINE COURSE REGISTRATION SYSTEM

Based on the common problems that faced by students who registering their course by the
online course registration system that had been mentioned above, there are several effects that
can affect the student’s emotions. When the students need to face some issue during
registering their course through this system, this will lead them to be stressed out. This may
affect the students’ studies. The students may not attend their first, two weeks’ class as they
busy to settle their problem registering the course by using this the system. It will make them
to leave be left behind, as the other classmates had started to learn and study their course.
Students will be more stressstressful when they need to catch up to learn the course by
himselfthemselves. According to Pasquarello (2019), a manageable schedule would allow
students to apply further dedication to the classes they are enrolled in. Mmost importantly, it
can hold positive implications for improved mental health and overall student satisfaction.
The issue regarding the online registration system may effect affect trouble to many parties.
When the students had faced some issues in registering their course through this the system,
as there are some problems occurred regarding the online registration, they need to meet their
academic advisor to seek for an advice on how to solve their problems. This will burden the
academic advisor and disrupting their time especially when most of his mentees faced some
problem in registering their course through the online registration system. Commented [NBS1]: Can you find support to this claim
too? I know this is an issue in uitm but find previous
research which mention the same issue to support yours.
3) WAYS TO IMPROVE ONLINE COURSE REGISTRATION SYSTEM

An essential part for all students who have enrolled in programs offered by the university is
the completion of registration leading to the semester. New students, transfers and continuing
students leverage online registration system in different ways. The institution should be more
concern about course selection (Murthy, 2017). Students are unsure of what courses to select
to satisfy degree requirements prior to registering online. Murthy also stated that course
section need to be divided into different sections due to classroom capacity constraint and
number of students registered for the courses. All the courses are assigned credits which
carries a load spread over the term. According to Murphy about credit load, online course
registration enables students to select a minimum of 12 credit hours that is required for
achieving academic success and keeping good health and balance in your life. There are
many other ways to improve online registration system such as put proper pre-requisites,
meeting pattern for class scheduled, self scheduling, advisor review on course selection and
get automatic notification for students. Breaking up the application process into different
stages is the first step towards creating a great registration process (Darash, 2015). It feels
much better to start an application seeing that there are only two or three forms or sections to
complete rather than ten. Other than that, hHe also stated that the best ways to improve online
system is best to have each stage automatically open up to applicants as they move through
the process. According to Darash, once having everything online, forms created and prices
set, you students can begin the process of individualizing the application for every applicant.
He asserted to make sure that ask question only once in online system. Asking the same
question several times throughout an application is annoying and quite frankly,
unprofessional.
