Sustainable Resources

Gomez, Evelyn Jones, Emerson Staley

We are a group of students from Austin High School who are raising
awareness on the importance of implementing sustainable,
alternative energy sources in our community.

Alternative energy is the use of sustainable sources that are not dependent on
fossil fuels, such as wind, hydro, nuclear (fusion), and solar power. Alternate
energy is important because while fossil fuels are cheap and easy to make
energy out of, they are detrimental to the environment. The process of turning
fossil fuels (oil, coal and natural gas) from substance to usable energy releases
hundred of tons of carbon dioxide and other gases into our atmosphere, causing
our planet to slowly become warmer and more dangerous due to rising sea
levels and destruction of sensitive ecosystems.
