INTRODUCTION

Much research in recent years hasfocused on avoiding cost increases in civil

constructions. Crabs and cracks were found in structural elements. These damages are
a type of holes that appear in a structural element due to bad constructionj process. This
problem produces an increase in costs and the reconstruction of the damaged element.

The decrease and prevention of crabs and cracks is very important in a construction
company. There remains a need for the prevention of this problem in all types of civil
constructions. SENSICO (2016) found that it is very common see cracks and crabs in
structural elements.

Engineers should use ultrasound equipment and diamond concrete to detect crabs and
cracks. This document focuses on a crack detector that reduces costs and prevents
delays in a construction.

METHODOLOGY
The impact tests used in this work are destructive and non-destructive tests for reinforced
concrete, which are used in a construction process currently. Cracks and crabs detector
was invented using ultrasound technology which is used to detect cracks in hardened
concrete. This equipment using ultrasound and x-ray technology, that is used in order to
analize the reinforced concrete. Also the detector is made of an impact resistant plastic.

To validate the test, you perform at least 3 trials. In order to determine if structural
elements present cracks or crabs. First, the detector is placed near of structural element.
You must not move the equipment in order to correctly analyze the damaged area.
Second, you select “start process”. The time of this process depending the weight of
beam of column. Finally, you should see “sucessful constructive process” message on
the detector screen. The safety factor is very important in this process. If you do not see
the message in structural element will be built with a bad construction process.

The detector was created using the method of detect cracks in hardened reinforced
concrete.

Future work will detect cracks and crabs in columns, beams, slabs, foundations and
reinforced concrete walls. (CivilGeek (2011)).
