Key task performed:

 Concept generation and approval of BLDC motor, Spur gear planetary gear train and simple gear train.
 3D modeling, assembly, drafting of the design using Unigraphics .
 Selection of fits & GD&T based on the assembly and functional requirement for both parts and sub –
Assemblies.
 Linear stack up analysis of motor components and radial stack up analysis of gear pairs.
 Sizing of shaft for required strength and life using ANSI standard and selection of material and heat
Condition.
 Structural Analysis of the Output shaft for 400Kgf bending load and 100mm from the Top cover.
 Gear fit calculations as per DIN-58405 for the backlash requirement.
 Bending tooth load carrying capability calculations as per ISO-6336 Method B and verifying with kissoft
 results.
 Selection of bearing based on the static, dynamic load carrying capacity and life.
 Selection of suitable finishes and coatings as per the storage and operational life specifications & conditions.
 Monitoring Proto manufacturing and assembly, involved in the testing of actuator.

 Design of Actuator & Gear box from concept to proto realization stage.
 Planetary and spur gear layout finalization for optimum backlash, Strength and torsional stiffness.
 Selection of minimum no of teeth s for Pinion and sun as per AGMA-901 algorithm for optimal bending
and pitting resistance.
 Gear macro geometry and tolerance calculations as per DIN 58405.
 Gears fit Selections for the specified backlash at the output.
 Gear mesh temperature, contact ratio and efficiency calculations.
 Selection of materials fits & tolerances and application of GD&T and tolerance stack up analysis to parts
and subassemblies.
 Bearing selection for Static, Dynamic load capabilities and life.

Design of gear box stiffness and backlash measuring fixture.

Monitored proto manufacturing and testing and did modification for assembling and manufacturing
easiness.
