Guidelines for Uploading Cheques online
General Guidelines
• Coloured photographs or scanned images of cheques for old and new banks are
only allowed. No other documents are needed for online COBM update.
• Use a high resolution mobile camera for taking photo of your cheques
• The size of photo/scanned image should be less than 5 MB
• The entire image/photo of the cheque should be uploaded with a dark
background.
• The cheque should have pre-printed Account Number, Name and Account type.
Cheques with etched, stamped or handwritten Account Numbers are not
allowed.
• The uploaded cheque should not have cancelled marks, or anything written over
the account number, Name and the MICR band.
• The cheque image should be taken by keeping the cheque on a flat surface and
not held in hand.
• The cheque image should clearly show all the edges of the cheque
• It is better to tear the cheque leaf and take a picture of it rather than taking it
from the cheque-book. This ensures that the side edges of the cheque is clear.

The cheques should be uploaded in a horizontal manner , with MICR band at the bottom of the image

The cheque image should be rectangular without any skew and with all the edges of the cheque clearly
visible and intact. Also, image should be clear and not hazy.
