Actuator-Sensor-Interface
■ Overview
AS-Interface single connection
can be used to supply up to
28 NO contacts and 7 alarm
outputs of SIGNUM 3SB3 com-
mand devices via a modified
AS-Interface slave (4I/4O with
Uaux).
The NO contacts or lamps are
located in modules that are
snapped onto the back of the
corresponding command de-
vices in place of conventional
contact blocks or lamp holders.
■ Operation
The system is controlled by a
function block in the PLC pro-
gramme.
A bit pattern with addresses
from 1 to 7 is output on the
10-core ribbon cable via three
outputs of the AS-i slave.
■ Configuration
For optimum utilization of the
existing inputs and outputs of
the AS-i slave, the AS-i single
modules are grouped into dif-
ferent types that contain one or
two NO contacts and/or lamps.
The first column of the selection
table contains the type number.
The second column contains a
picture that indicates whether
the module contains a lamp
and whether one or two NO
contacts are available.
The third column indicates
which slave input is used for
feedback of the NO contact(s)
of the respective type.

A 10-core ribbon cable is used
to loop between them and con-
nect them to the above-
mentioned AS-i slave.
The modules are supplied with-
out the SIGNUM 3SB3 actuator.
These can be selected in the
Section Pushbuttons and indi-
cator lights / SIGNUM 3SB3.
There is an encoding switch on
each AS-Interface single mod-
ule that can be used to set a
subaddress from 1 to 7 for di-
rectly addressing the module.
Selection criteria
The single modules must be se-
lected taking into account the
fact that each AS-i slave input
(E1 to E4) is only permitted to
be used up to a maximum of
seven times due to the address-
ing.
To complete the system, a rib-
bon cable is required and one
AS-i slave for connecting the
ribbon cable. One ribbon cable
connector is supplied with each
single module. The permissible
length of the ribbon cable is ap-
proximately 10 m.

These seven settable subad-
dresses allow up to 28 NO con-
tacts to be processed on the
four input leads of the AS-i
slave. The lamps are activated
via the address that is output
(A1 to A3) and Output 4 of the
AS-i slave.

AS-Interface front panel module

■ Overview
The front panel module contains
the AS-Interface module 4I/4O,
four command points and a con-
nection for making contact with
the bus cable.
One command point comprises
an actuator/detector with con-
tact block(s) or a lamp holder
and labelling by means of an in-
sertable label, laser inscription
or nameplate1).
The front panel module for
4 command points corresponds
to one station address of AS-In-
terface. Addressing is per-
