CHAPTER V

CONCLUSIONS AND SUGGESTIONS

In this chapter, the researcher discusses the conclusion of the research and the

suggestion.

A. Conclusions
After analyzing the result of pretest and posttest scores from experimental and

control classes, and testing the hypotheses of this research, the writer concluded

that:
1. The main gain score of pretest in the experimental class is higher than the

main gain score of pretest in control class. It shows that reciprocal teaching

strategy improve students’ reading comprehension. It could be seen from the data

of nonparametric test that indicate there were significant differences in the

students’ score in pretest and posttest in experimental class. In can be concluded

that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, so reciprocal teaching improve students’

reading comprehension.
2. From the result of the data analysis, it can be concluded that reciprocal

teaching strategy could be used as an alternative strategy in teaching reading

comprehension.

B. Suggestions
Based on the conclusion above and observation while research , the researcher

would like to give some suggestions, as follows:

1. To English Teacher:
The teacher should give appropriate strategy in their teaching, suitable with the

goal of the study and class condition. If the teacher will use reciprocal teaching

strategy, make sure to understand how to apply the reciprocal strategy in the

classroom. And choose interesting material to make students have fun in the

learning process.
2. To the Student
The student should begin to get used to reading every day, especially English texts

so that their reading comprehension is trained and can also enrich their

vocabulary. In the class, notice what the teacher is saying carefully, follow every

instruction and be passionate about learning. More confident to learn, and never

give up.
3. To the Researcher
To another researcher should follow the step to make a research. If possible, make

an instrument that suitable for the students’ condition. Enrich your literature

before you started to do a research. If you will use reciprocal teaching strategy as

a variable in your research, make sure to understand what reciprocal teaching is,

and how to use reciprocal strategy.
